Stacks Docklet

matonga, I'm glad to hear that you are developing a new, improved version.

I do like the improved animation employed by the pre-beta, and it would appear that the memory it uses during pop-up is freed when the stack closes. Good job! ;)

I shall look forward to testing the first release when it's available.

Many thanks,

James

One of the main reasons why I use the Stack Docklet, is the increased workflow. I, for one, use an old (but stable) version (1.0.0.134) with Special Folders, especially the Control Panel included.

Will Special Folders be availabe in the version 2?

Will Special Folders be availabe in the version 2?

Short answer:

Yes.

Long answer:

Filesystem folders can be treated as special folders too (technically speaking). Stacks Docklet 2.0 will no longer differentiate between "filesystem" folders and "special" folders. You will be able to select C:\, your My documents folder, the Desktop, the Control Panel, the Recycle Bin, the My Network Places, a pendrive, or whatever you want.

Technical answer:

Stacks Docklet 2.0 doesn't use FindFirstFile / FindNextFile anymore. It uses IShellFolder for everything.

Lookin' good :) Waiting for the fan option. Still not working with Standalone Stack (disappears immediately, the same way as *.134), but I guess it's a problem with Standalone Stack?

@JarasM:

I think Standalone Stack developer is chrisnsoft. Is this correct?

I should contact him regarding the new Stack Library API. It will be more beneficial for both. Also TrayStack and TaskStack would benefit from the new API too.

Hi, I have a problem. When I put a drive(like D:) as the "root" of the stack its label doesnt appear. Can someone help me??

Thanks! :)

I have the same issue as Trypa. Is this a bug? It works fine in the preview version of 2.0

#523741

Dunno if this is the right place but i have an issue with the first version of stacks (system folders only), the dll that's 491kb... works great except that it refuses to show the icon.... it will not show for 'when stack is open', or 'always', or the 'always with the 3 icons... it will show the 3 icons, but not the main icon.... any ideas why? i really liked this version because it actually highlights the icons I hover over...

#523918

Rocketdock (which I dont use I just tested this in it) it seems to have an overflow problem with large folders such as a large picture folder

Objectdock gets an error if an icon is not applied first also it does not apply the box icon that comes with it and you have to remove all old stacks before updating or the old stacks will crash when you attempt to open them up

#523985

Fucking tits man, you just saved me twenty bucks cuz the flyouts were the only reason I was gonna upgrade to premium but yours work perfect and theyre even better than the ones developed by the pros from what I can see. A+!

Hey everyone I saw the posts about using this one avedesk which I can get to run however, I have a folder that I use to hold programs I dont normally use but when I try to set the icon instead of seeing the stack of icons that are in the folder, the icon I select is placed behind the stack of icons. Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks

Jason

#524984

Nope, mine is working just fine with ObjectDock.

#524985

Is the a plan to make this work in the portable mode?

Thanks

#525187

Hi,

I am new to this objectdock and i was happy to see your docklet.

It's very good.

I was surprised that when a grid opens and i clicked a folder, that that folder opened.

I was sure that it will open a new grid (for the sub folders).

Any chance of this kind of functionality ?

In some cases i'm not interested in the files only in the folders. (some kind of explorer replacement to get to the folder i want).

@vago:

You can try StandAloneStack (by ChrisNSoft) to do that:

First create a folder, and put as many stand alone stacks there as folders you want to show.

Then add the created folder as a stack docklet into your dock. So clicking in the dock will show the folder with all "subfolders" and when you click one of those subfolders it will open as a stack too.

ok im using the new version 2 however i have some requests.

1. The grid view in beta 2 is massive! can this be restored to the original size?

2. The fan view bending to the right is nice, but not useful, could we get a straight list instead of a bent view?

If you want to talk about Stacks Docklet 2.0 please do so at its own thread in HERE. Thanks.

Point 1. It will be added in future builds, if you take a look at the options window in the "advanced" tab there is already an option to set the maximum and minimum icon size but it is greyed out for now.

Point 2. Stacks docklet is intended to look like the stacks from Mac OS, that's why it has the bending in fan view.

Hi, I'm having this little problem with Stack Docklet & my tabbed dock on top of the screen:

92044938.jpg

As you can see, the grid stack should opens up below the dock, but instead it opens above it, so all I can see of the stack is just... that, since it's already top of my screen

thank you for your help

I would like to do this too, but I don't quite understand these steps/instructions...

Any clarification would be appreciated.

Thread moved, please try to be more careful where you create threads, this thread is full of information regarding how to use the stacks docklet.

You'll need to put the stacks.dll into RLK docklet folder, then right click the dock and choose add docklet, also make sure the dock isn't locked while trying to add stuff or it won't take

#525609

How do I add it to RK launcher because you can't use the Add Item bit.
