Breaking a EULA isn't breaking the law, but it's still a very shoddy file, which I totally don't own 1.5% of.
Stacks Docklet
Hey, this may seem dumb to be asked but...
I'm using ObjectDock with this amazing docklet, and I've set a folder shortcute, with the Fan type of setting, and when I click it and all of the things inside that folder get to shown in the Fan way, most of my icons don't look good, they don't look smooth, nor antialiased.... :s
Note: I have ObjectDock set to use most of my ram memory, and to top quality.... so I can't see why this happens. I've seen most of your screenshots (the guy who showed it workin on Windows 7 caught my attention!) and mine look a lot worse...
@F D B:
ObjectDock quality settings don't apply to the stacks.
Can you post a screenshot? Maybe it's a bug.
Added icon/text zooming on open/close, just like Leopard does (didn't notice it in videos).
Next: who knows... build the docklet icon with first three items of the stack, realtime (optional of course). Don't have a release date for this one.
Hi all,
I've a question;
I'm using 64-bit Vista, whatever the dock I use, in stack, on the fan or grid, both view much of my icons are going to blank. I increased the icon cache from registry but nothing change.
Any ideas, suggestions?
New update, now it shows first three items in dock icon ![]()
@af14: long known bug, it works as long as you click in the middle of the icon. Will fix later.
Edit:
@IAMG:
Move the mouse and "Películas" will disappear (just temporarily until you close the stack).
This is a bug of the dock, not the docklet, in the case of Rocket Dock. I have been reported this doesn't happen with Object Dock.
In case your english is too bad:
why can't I use my own icon anymore?
Desparece si tengo la opcion de "Follow the Dock" activada.. pero yo uso esta opcion desactivada
Uso Rocketdock
@Trickmyster:
Stacks Docklet is undergoing some changes, please be patient. ![]()
@IAMG:
Es un bug de Rocket Dock. Fijate con Object Dock te debería funcionar bien. Yo de hecho tengo el mismo problema y no tengo forma de solucionarlo ![]()
Short description in english: text won't hide in Rocket Dock unless you move the mouse. But it seems it won't disappear, even if you move the mouse, if you have "Follow the Dock" option unchecked.
Edit:
Smoothed out stack's items icon borders (top border and left border). They were ugly. Now they look better.
This is a fantastic docklet, however, i'm getting a crash using Object Dock Plus 1.9. I add a stack docklet, configure it to point somewhere, and it works flawlessly... until i restart the dock. At this point if i go to open the stack, it crashes.
And on another note, i don't suppose it is possible to to make the mouse cursor actually do something (like use the hand) when over a folder in the stack? Would look nicer, at the moment it looks to frozen.
*EDIT* I've done a little testing to see if i can find a pattern, and i have.
In the first image, it shows my dock and all icons to the right of this point work with the stack icon.
Move it just one to the left, and it crashes, and all icons to the left will crash it. So in other words, if i move anywhere to the right of this point, it works, and anywhere to the left, and it will always crash. This is repeatable for me 100%.
The only thing i can think of, is that when it works, it's in the last 10 icons, when it crashes, its in the first 10, and i'm just making this theory up, but perhaps object dock has a left and right part to its design, and if on the left side, it loads the dll in an order that object dock doesn't like and causes the stack to crash.
I too have the issue where (in fan mode) that it will select the wrong option to the one you've clicked on.
Tested it several times with various folders including listing all the drives. When it fans out I go and click a drive and the one below or above will open instead. Doesn't do it all the time and so far it's not happened in grid mode.
Running this in ObjectDock and on Vista x64.
Thanks
Hi Matonga you crazy coding beast ![]()
Great to know you're still working on this docklet.
Can you tell us if this docklet would work in BOBAH13's dock yet? Do you have plans to make it work? I know the dock already has built in stack functionality, but I really enjoy yours as well.
great update.
one defection. once there are too much items in the folder, of course the stackdocklet will display them in grid. but it seems to display everything even more than screen's capacity.
so, could you please let the docklet detect the resolution of the screen then decide how many items will be displayed.
or set a certain number. if it gets too many things, it will just show certain items followed by a "more than ... items"
ps: how about to add an option show as a menu
any news on the crash i experience in Object dock, can anyone repeat it?
Ok, more improvements, let's see:
- Changed grid in/out animation, it looks more Leopard now.
- Grid will limit number of icons, so it will never be bigger than screen, showing "Open folder" option instead at bottom right corner.
- Solved a bug which freezed the whole dock when opening a folder (no idea why this is happening, ShellExecuteW just freezes, if some developer knows what's going on I'd greatly appreciate his/her help).
@neologan:
It works fine here, though with Rocket Dock. Haven't tried Object Dock yet.
Yes, works in Rocketdock for me too.
It's a shame as i find ObjectDocks zoom movements just a little more smooth than rocket docks. I don't suppose you will have a test yourself to see if it can be reproduced / fixed?
every dock i've tried apart from object dock has low frame rates for some animations. In rocket dock, if i choose "auto hide" and then move the mouse over so it slides into view, it's jerky. These docks are in no way dependant on gpu are they?
More improvements!
For all those of you who either want closer Mac OS X emulation, or maybe Stacks Docklet legacy dock icon behavior, you have three options now:
- Show icon only when stack is open (else it just shows first three items). This is Leopard's default behavior.
- Show icon always (icon is shown on top of first three items) (try setting icon to DockletsStackDockletImagesBox.png)
- Show only the icon (never shows first three items, even if stack is closed - this is like Stacks Docklet in previous releases)
Ok, here's some stuff that I'm gonna do in some near or not so near future:
- Fix problem with fan stack being clipped on bigger screen resolutions.
- Fix problem with wrong item being opened when choosing among fan items.
- Implement list mode (KKMenu in short) (this is subject to future "no I won't do it" declarations from my part).
I forgot to mention... this made my day: ![]()
Hi Matonga you crazy coding beast![]()
@neologan:
RocketDock works smooth here. Even smoother than Object Dock at least to me. It's true it shows up jerky on autohide but I can live with that.
Most docks use something called GDI+ which is not hardware accelerated, i.e. it doesn't depend on GPU. Having a dual core processor (such as Intel's Core 2 Duo or AMD's Athlon X2) helps a lot.
The problem with hardware acceleration is you can't have semitransparent windows, like docks for example (another example is widgets). Mac OS X's dock probably is hardware accelerated but because the operative system visual part was thought with graphical hardware acceleration in mind. This doesn't happen with Microsoft Windows, which is a more business-oriented O.S. So, this is the reason why most Windows docks -if not all- aren't hardware accelerated. They could be, but this means doing texture memory operations and lots of complicated chinese-mambo-jumbo-like stuff, which would work even slower than software in anything but good PCI-Express 16x cards (read ATI, nVidia, and maybe some Intel video cards).
BTW give XWindows Dock a try. It has creepy animations in my opinion, but it has a stack fully integrated with the dock thus doesn't have all the problems Stack Docklet has.
Just giving you a heads up matonga, you still can not choose your own icon, it just shows up as a blank space. ![]()
Hi
The new Stacks docklet is not working with RKLauncher.
I get an error if I want to add it:
Not loaded!
Original:
EDIT: Works with RKL nightly 275 (in 282 you will have a blank icon), if you have an existing stack. I cannot add a new stack in no version of RKL.
