XWindows Dock v5.2.3

Well, but a long time has passed since Y'z Dock, which was one of the first docks for Win ever, we have many new docks now, many of them closer to OSX than Y'z Dock. I think apple is a little less sensible now.

And I think it makes a big difference to deny the obvious! Imho it's a big difference to just have a good OSX-Replica or to have one an claim to have it. Because I don't think the App itself could be a problem for apple, but publicity of an App claiming to be copy of Apple, that could concern apple more, than the app itself.

But we never now, so it certainly is a unknown risk.

I couldn't agree more with your point of view too, atreiu. Deavy, you're doing a hell of a good job with the site - it's getting really pleasant to the eyes, but one thing is the knowledge that it clones M*c's Dock, the other is marketing it. We should instead focus in it's features and functionality by themselves, and let others say it's a clone, not us. Just my 2 cents...

I'm just curious, why do we have to update the skin file when switching the xwindows to a higher version? cant you just update the program while keeping the same skin file?

Hello

I have been having problems with Object Dock lately since I installed and started using XWindows Dock -is there a memory confict or just not getting along -I am disabling OD until Stardock comes up with a newer version I have 2.0 and it crashes at least once a day now

And I love almost everything about XWindows Dock esp the genie animation -its a keeper -Good work guys

OD 2.0? Where did you get it? There's no such version for downloading via Impulse... Unless you're a beta tester of an unreleased version... :?

I run XWWD alongside 5 OD+ v1.91k[a].025 docks (2 tabbed, latest public beta version) without OD+ having one single problem... it's XWD that hangs (wobbles and 100% cpu consunption) from time to time, but this is an unrelated problem, one that's already know by us.

I think it would be a good idea, to first upload all the Themes to DA, because it's more likely that they will create a category, if we can show them links to 30-40 deviations, which could be put into this category right now. At the moment, there are 0 search results for XWindowsDock, i doubt they will make a category in advance, we have to contribute first, gather the links, then they will certainly set up a category.

I guess you're right about that, but then there's something that worries me a lot: not all skins specify whether they are original creations, ports/mods with original creator's permission, or or simply a ripoff of someone else's work...

Moving to dA without this kind of care would expose not only this community but even XWindows Dock to serious risks and publicity of the worst kind; so, I think we should try elaborating some sort of strategy before doing that. What do you guys think of it?

the default skin has a solid straight line above the dock between 100-200 pixels. it's pretty annoying..

also, i was hoping this dock had the functionality to have docklets with a working indicator to indicate the program it launches...?

finally, does anyone know why exactly special folders cannot be used for stacks? "my documents" only shows the last file in the folder, nothing else.

An idea would be, to use a different Icon set and a different background, for the screenshots/previews on the homepage. (Doesn't apple has an absolutely clear copyright on these Icons?). You should think about not shipping this background and icons with XWinDock-Download, too, I guess. Then you could link to the deviant search for XWindows Dock (Yay! there ARE some deviations! :)) in the "Additional links" - Section. Then the visitors can see, that it does not look like Mac OS X on the first sight, but it can be made to look like Mac OS X dock easily, but that wouldn't be "your fault" as a developer, i hope so. But you shouldn't show that on your Homepage, just in the Links...

PS: Your Homepage is great, even better than the last one. (You know, that the design breaks, if you have 1024px - resolution? This might be considered.)

I thinking not speaking the truth here, might be the difference between getting punished or not :P Of course you can try it with the truth, but you might get into trouble with this. But you also might not, who knows?
