@bobah:

Have you seen this? http://www.osx-e.com/downloads/docks/xwindows_dock.html

Did you give permission for that or... ???

It doesn't even say that he did it... WTF

Alright now....

-I created a german language file and checked it, should be quite okay.

-If somebody tells me how to decompile the helpfile I could also translate this one.

-Discovered a typing mistake in the english language file, fixed it. ("fiels --> "files")

-Bug(or feature?): Dialog for changing filetypes does not fade out after clicking "Save". You have to click "Filetypes" again.

Question: What is meant with "Trigger events when monitoring"? Does this mean what to do with files when they are changed?

So long,

BlaZeOSX

I'm sorry to say, but you used an outdated English file... :(

Make sure you pick the latest one, revise your German file guided by its contents (there are differences) then upload your file again...

I know, it's getting really messy but the only way I see for minimizing this is bobah posting them at the first post.

Please, remove your English file download link, and thanks for contributing!

Which one is the correct one? I used the one from the installer of 5.2.

Actually I did wonder why it said "1.0" in the version info but I assumed it was a mistake.

I have posted it earlier today.I thought you were following all messages here; see post# 1467 (12:55pm). :)

No credits, no reference link, ... a typical thief attitude! (unless bobah is aware of it, that is...)

Hi guys! Thanks everyone for this great little piece of software.

I have a problem though with Xmail docklet, (wich was the thing I was waiting for to definitely switch to XwindowsDock) unfortunately I can't make it work with Gmail... when I ctrl+click on it XWD simply stops working and I have to kill it through taskmanager... I downloaded v 003 just now

I'm 100% sure I'm following all the instructions properly, (I have put both dll's in the main folder of XWD and then the rest in the docklets folder, is that correct?)

I'm using XP pro SP2, is there anything else I should update or anything? I'm lost in this one--

thanks all in advance !

.

yep (unfortunately)

also: I have a problem with the dock (V 5.2.1) taking too long to reappear if I set it to autohide after x seconds.

anyone else experiencing this problem?

When will the Mirror effect for the windows be available??

1. Does the timed-check work, and only the ctrl-click doesn't?

2. What is the result, when you click "Test settings" in the XMail-Settings-Dialog?

3. Did you set your firewall to let XWindowsDock through? (I figured out, that sometimes the windows firewall does not ask for access, so it's possible that you have to add XWindowsDock.exe manually to the firewall!)

PS: Your files are all at the right place. You would get a "XY Libarys missing"-Dialog, otherwise.

#514905

Thanks for the replies, guys:

1. Does the timed-check work, and only the ctrl-click doesn't?

No: the timed check doesn't work, and the ctrl click freezes the dock, so I have to kill it.

2. What is the result, when you click "Test settings" in the XMail-Settings-Dialog?

It says: "Everything should work"

(even though sometimes, after a few failed attemps , it says: "this value can not be set while the client is connected "

restarting the dock reverts that, though.

3. Did you set your firewall to let XWindowsDock through? (I figured out, that sometimes the windows firewall does not ask for access, so it's possible that you have to add XWindowsDock.exe manually to the firewall!)

it's added, yes.

No: the timed check doesn't work, and the ctrl click freezes the dock, so I have to kill it.

But the timed check doesn't freeze the dock? That's strange, because it's doing exactly the same thing both times...

However, if the "Test Settings" said "Everything should work" this mean, that all your entered data is correct and that you have enabled IMAP on google. (So it's not your fault, that it isn't working ;))

How many Emails are in your Inbox? The only difference between the "Check mail"-function and the "Test Settings"-Function is, that "Check Email" retrieves the headers for all your Emails in your Inbox. If these are a lot or you have a low-speed connection, it could freeze the dock. I guess something is going wrong with the retrieve-headers part....

Are you willing to do some testing? Then move all your emails from the inbox to another folder, write yourself one new testing message (dont read it) and try again to check for mails with the docklet.

#514909

How many Emails are in your Inbox? ....

now that made sense: I have almost 12.000 emails in my inbox..!!

I tried with a secondary gmail account, (with only 50 emails in its inbox) and it worked perfectly.

So I guess I will have to let it do its job on my main accoun and wait, right? (now: will it be the same every time??)

Aha! So, as the headers are retrieved, could we have, as an option, an internal viewer for them (ctrl-click)?

Thanks for the updated docklets! Here you are a small gift (second one is for reference):

12,000??? Wow!

@atreiu: is it possible changing the docklet so that only unread messages are retrieved?

#514915

@atreiu: is it possible changing the docklet so that only unread messages are retrieved?

that would be PERFECT!

(the truth is that it seems that it's a lot of unnecessary work to go through all the entire inbox when we only want to know how many NEW emails we have.. of course that doesn't seem like a huge waste of time if you only have a few hundred emails, but in cases like mine it makes the docklet useless, unfortunately)...

do you think that could be implemented ?

#514917

12.000 lol. Now everything is clear.

Sure, the reason why I receive the Headers is, that i can show a preview (Sender, Subject) later...

And yes, I certainly have to figure out a way to receive only unread headers. The problem right now is, that due to idiotic-Gmail-Developers, which do not use standard-email-flags for unseen messages, I have to download the headers to know, if they are seen or not. :P But I think I can figure out a workaround...

Big update is in the pipe, but it could need some more days...

(XMail is my most complex Docklet so far, and i have no practise in coding web-apps, so please be patient with me ;))

ha! yeah, even I was amazed at how many emails I had in my inbox. (first time I bother to check)

Thanks a lot for your work, man. I'll keep checking for new updates and any improvements will be really appreciated, (I wish I knew a little coding myself to contribute) .

Saludos!

Sorry BlaZeOSX, somehow i missed answering these:

... -Bug(or feature?): Dialog for changing filetypes does not fade out after clicking "Save". You have to click "Filetypes" again.
- it's meant to be that way; ;) Save is for saving just the settings you've modified in the main dialog's tabs.
