Windows XP Pro with Service Pack 2

GFX Driver Version : Nvidia 81.84

PC Specs : Check Sig

1) When I minimise with the aladdin effect, like others very slow despite my hardware. Uses around 68-70 CPU, but doesn't take as long as other people have said to minimise. For me it probably takes around 2-3 secs.

2) Only can minimise, when i try to maximise the window it has no effect just redisplays the window as normal.

3) Does not work with Firefox 1.0.7

4) When you right click on a minimised program e.g control panel, none of the menu items work, such as Restore, maximise, minimise, move, size.

Nice work on the dock.

I also got the slow alladin effect as well.

AMD64 3200+

BFG nVidia Geforce 6800 AGP

2048mb DDR-400

Windows XP Pro SP2

Tested effect with Firefox 1.06, IE 6, Explorer, MSN Messenger, AIM, Task Manager

I was running at 1280x1024 resolution and found that it took 3-5 secs for the effect to take place, also creating a blackspots on the right of my desktop when using windows bigger than 800x600, though I'm not sure if that's the smallest it goes before working properly. When I lowered the resolution to 1152x864 and 1024x768, I received the same performance as I had on my higher resolution. However, I changed my resolution to 1600x1200 and found the effect to take 2-3 secs, but I still received the black spots on the desktop from the bigger windows.

Another thing that I found, which as already been mentioned, is that the further the window is away from the dock, the faster the effect seems to work. I'm not sure if that is just with my configuration, so let's see if other people can get something similar what I got with that whole resolution thing. Also, if the window is wide, the black things will appear to the right as the effect takes place. I didn't see any problems with the effect when the window was longer (say 200x1000)

Here's a little of what I tried at 1600x1200. (Test) Sorry the quality is horrible, I don't know what you guys use to record desktop clips, so that was recorded with my digital camera, but hopefully you guys get the idea.

After reading the other posts, it seems like nvidia cards seem to be ones with the worst problems. Most midrange to higher ATi users say that the plugin is performs decent. I'm wondering though, for those who say the plugin in running great and fast, what configuration do they have. It may having something to do with the drivers? Not sure about that one, I'll see about trying older drivers to see if that does any good.

Is your video supposed to be long and move, all i see is a 2 second clip of a still image.

Edit: Yeh ur right it works after you let it load for a while.

#323755

that's what i got at first too, but after it loads the entire way, just click play again. Either that or right click and save the video to desktop.

Short: Launcher crashes when activating items with erraneous links.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enter an erraneous link for a dock item (and click ok).

2. Click on the dock item.

Problem:

Launcher will report link not found and one of two things will happen

1. The dock item icon will become semi-transparent and follow the mouse pointer as long as the launcher is in focus. Sometimes if closing focus of launcher you will not be able to get the launcher back into view. I have also at one occasion been able to put the dock item back into the launcher by clicking and then next time the same dock item was clicked launcher crashed.

2. The launcher will crash.

System used for test:

Intel Centrino

ATi Radeon Mobility 9200

Win XP Pro, SP2

the overall app is great... my only bug that i can see other than the alladin effect is that the "hide taskbar" feature never keeps the taksbar hidden.... eventually rears it's ugly head.

I noticed one bug, and that is with iTunes. When I minimize, it does the genie effect and goes to the dock but iTunes still stays open.

If you look at the dock, you'll see that I minimized iTunes 4 times in total and yet it still stays maximized. Maybe it's the multiplugin by Local Host.

Anyways, Superb job m8.

you probably kept the old RKLauncher.conf and that's why your settings won't change...

Ah, of course. I've gotten into that habit, so I wouldn't have to rebuild the dock settings, etc.. I'll try that now =)

Oh, and yes, I meant to congratulate you on an incredible website as well. =)

I don't think its is multiplugin cause i am using it and my iTunes is working fine do you have the lastest version, version 2.2?

RK Launcher .4

Simply activate the options "Use margin hotstpot". If problems still occour, active "Never take focus".

#323828

Problem when minimizing "program internal" windows (example Xnews -> xnewsmin4rs.th.jpg)

When you minimize the "internal" window it gets "ripped" from the application, minimized to rklauncher and causes problems when you maximize it again.

Overall a very nice effect though a problem maker :)

Yep, iTunes 6.0 with multiplugin 2.2. And I'm not saying that the Plugin is the cause of this, I'm just giving out the info that I am using the plugin in case that affects anything.

Aladdin effect workin fine here, should be just a little bit faster though.

I keep having 15% cpu usage if I don't disable the Anti-tampering feature of Symantec Corporate Antivirus 10.0.1.

Anti-tampering ?!? what is that ?

Another stupid Heuristics by Symantec ?

#323874

When you lock the dock it doesn't allow drop of items into the bin.. or left clicking on it either... maybe this is a docklet issue instead though?
