RK Launcher v0.4 - BUG REPORTS

still, i think this belongs to the bug report thread.

An excellent point haibane, one I overlooked. Thanks for the note.

@pierluc--

1) Don't double post. This is against the forum rules, which you can read here.

2) This did belong in the Bug Reports thread, though 12 MB is actually rather remarkably small to be considered "a leak." On the scale of things, this isn't too large...

First, thank you for this great program.

I noticed a small problem with the latest night build (0.41 b 111) : if I change the dock size in "appearance" tab to a small value (ie : the smallest possible size), it seems that the magnification takes much more time compared to 0.4b (at least twice as long).

(WinXp sp2, Athlon 3800x2, Geforce 6800gs/drivers 81.98 )

Edit : Oops, sorry, forget this post, i didn't see "performance" settings had changed.

Hi, couldn't find the following bug being mentioned previously so here goes:

Open "Dock Item Porperties" for any item, leave the window open while deleting (dragdrop) that Item, now click 'close' and there ya go!

Not that important but it's a detail ^_^

Greets.

Well, I LOVE the program, but one thing that is a major hassle is Ad-Watch (by Lavasoft). Whenever I try to close it, it minimizes to the RKLauncher and it freaks out and minimizes again and again. It won't stop until I close RKLauncher.

XP Pro

ATI Radeon X600 XT 256Mb

Pentium 4 @ 3.4Ghz HT

1.0 GB RAM

Flyakite OSX v3.0

Crazy little problem that cropped up on my machine:

RK Launcher starts up with windows, and immediately spits out "Error creating hooks." I click okay, and RK gives me no further trouble. If you're wondering what build, the culprit is 168, and the problem didn't exhibit itself in the nightly build, until I installed the Flyakite beta 4. I replaced the nightly files, and the the problem persists, off and on. I just installed Flyakite 3 on 2 machines I have, and the older, slower one, doesn't spit this error out, but my main machine does, irregularly. Any idea what the heck it's talking about?

I unistalled the beta of flyakite, and replaced it with the RC1 of Flyakite 3 (the release version). So it's not the beta....

I have been a proud RK Launcher user for over a year now and have not encountered any real issues with it. But now, since upgrading to XP, RK seems to be doing weird things. Everytime I try to close RK, it displays an error message that says "rklauncher.config could not be accessed". I have to manually go through the task manager to close it which is a real hassle every time. It just started happening. Anybody know what I can do? I've tried re-downloading RK, and doing all sorts of things. I have no docklets running.

Thanks!

//Technically, this was a bug. Merged your old thread into this one... Thanks! :) -NC

I also has same situation as kjohnson.

And I ahve one more question.

I am using Aladdin's Lamp Effect, but it works pretty slow. Is it because of my pc?

Windows XP SP2

Pentium M 1.6GHz

512 MB RAM

xixi, when I open some Docklet Settings, the docklet icon is locked. - wo, while opening the properties of smth, than the current icon wont move. =)

so I could not try your bug - and therefore it is not a bug 4 me.

have a nice day with RKL

#350788

On latest nightly (I didn't test on 0.4b) , when I use the shortcut "Windows"+"D" to reduce every window on screen, RkLauncher is also reduced (it disappears from screen).

#350893

TSK, if you install the latest version of directx, it will speed it up a lot. (or at least a bit...)

Does anyone notice that sometimes you have to restart RKL to have it be able to show the new prgorams?

Thanks, I've installed the latest version, and it became faster but not a lot. Anyway, it worked.

However, I realized another and a fatal problem. While launching the RK launcher, the memory consumption are increasing gradually. Then, Windows terminate the RK. What's wrong with it?

Does anyone have the same problem? I f so, how to solve it?

Hi!

(heh :D, My english is poor but I try).

At first - I don't know is that bug at all.

When i turn autohide on, and set delay to (for example) 5 seconds (5000 msesc) I expect hiding delay. When I get mouse pointer out from dock area, dock should disappear after five seconds - right?.

But this seams to work in other way: with this settings dock is appear on screen with five seconds delay :/ When i drag cursor to the border of screen i must wait 5 second untill dock will show on screen. Weird cause i thought this function is called "hide delay", not "show delay" :)

when Removing docklets Rk freeze and crashes after the poof, and destory the itemlist.conf, on next restart dock shows nuffing on the dock,

or maybe it's just my computer

when drag the separator which suppose to resize the dock , which dosen't work with locked on and off

very bad ico. graphics, compared to yz dock there lot's of squares, and very nice .png graphics, very smooth

i don't use laddin effect, cause it lags my computer so much, maybe you can make it faster?

#352526

Well i just noticed this after updating RKL to build 111 but it seems with the bug fixes with the od docklet the older version kkmenu 0.3 doesn't seem to save the menu settings anymore...

all the kkmenu shortcuts gets defaulted to the first menu on the list of menus within the kkmenu ini.

this works fine in the older builds.

#352861

Some applications, most notably Mozilla Firefox and Windows Media Player, do not support minimization to the RK Launcher toolbar. If someone finds a solution to this problem, please e-mail me at yurimxpxman@rock.com Any help would be appreciated :-)

#353861

yumxpxman, download the latest beta. This fixes the minimize problems with Firefox. Next time try searching the forums first ;).

NC, pardon my question in a Bug Thread, but what version of WMP are you using? I've been minimizing to the RK Dock for while at least. Now I could be crazy, too.

Still got that wierd maximizing issue though. RK always maximizes the window, but it restores, rather than maximizes. Anybody else have that issue?

#354005

I don't have a problem with WMPlayer not minimizing to the dock. That is, I didn't have the problem--I don't use RK Launcher anymore. All I know is that the latest beta fixes any problems minimizing Mozilla apps...

hi everyone, this is my first post here. I just want to say that I really love RK Launcher and hope the creator will continue to support it! It's an amazing project!

...and now let's get to the bug :)

On latest nightly (I didn't test on 0.4b) , when I use the shortcut "Windows"+"D" to reduce every window on screen, RkLauncher is also reduced (it disappears from screen).

that happens here too, I don't know if that is considered a bug, but it would be nice that RK Launcher doesn't minimize since it is part of the UI and because you need to click another application to see RK Launcher re-appear which is somewhat annoying sometimes.

*EDIT* Maybe a way to fix that would be to add an option called pinned to the desktop like in AveDesk. I never tried this software but someone talked about this option in another post

also... I've tested the 0.41 nightly build... i've discovered that raduking forgot to mention something :P yes yes! The - drag files onto icons to open applications which is on the todo list for v0.5 beta IS WORKING! sometime that is... hehe... the "trigger" area on the dock icon is very picky... I've dragged some image files (i.e. .jpg files) on my photoshop dock icon and it actually ran the application and opened my image :) but sometimes I have to retry 2-3 times before it work even if i'm directly on the icon (it makes the dock icon become darker)... maybe the trigger region is too small... not really sure.

btw... I've tried an objectdock search docklets in 0.41 and it works like a charm!

I hope this will help you raduking! thanks for this great apps! :)

for example, I don't have internet Explorer standard on the dock.

I start Internet Explorer, now I will see an icon IEXPLORE.EXE on the dock, if I minimize the window, I will see ANOTHER icon for IE, this is the minimized version.

So now I have 2 icons for 1 program!

This happens for all programs (at least that have not been set on the dock) when "Show new apps" is checked.

it is not really a bug, but I don't think this is the preferred behaviour (2 icons for the same window).

#354866

MIRROR here again:

Just adding my compliments too and I just want to say that I also completely love RK Launcher Project and watching closely these Developments hope it will continue!

Like is already mentioned, It is an amazing project! :)

My main compliment is in the Genie Effect for minimizing windows. In early stages of Beta it was trying but at best it would diplay the domino effect when minimizing. Seems that concern is been very much given attention and so far works reasonable well on mine, you see i was one of those (and still am) with the Nvida Video Card inside.

I was wondering how difficult it would be to step up the velocity of that minimizing with the genie effect and what presents any difficulty in speeding it up. I understand DirectX only goes so far so was wondering if that is the limitation to it.

Don't think this is a bug but when minimizing the genie effect the window begins drawing down to stretch but howbeit somewhat slowly BUT Completely!!! without any apparent issues that hampered it before.

Thanks and continued success with this. Microsoft wishes they had the imagination and wherewithall to develop like you guys do. Even if they did it would likely take them a lifetime to impliment anything as ingenious as this.

EDIT NOTE:

Found this after posting: No need to reply

Same thing with me, exactly, but does anyone have to fix?

that is the whole "problem creating direct3D effect"

Windows XP Home SP2

RKLauncher 0.4 beta

HP Pavilion dv4000 laptop (Celeron 1.6ghz, 512mb RAM, 60gb HD)

RKLauncher seems to allow more than one instance of itself. I found this out accidently when I had manually put a shortcut to RKLauncher in my Startup folder, then enabled the option in RKLauncher to put a shortcut in the startup folder. There were then 2 shortcuts in my startup folder for RKLauncher, and there were 2 RKLauncher bars on my screen.

nightfox, this isn't a bug--it's quite intentional for people who want multiple docks.

I fully agree with the moderator...

I dont consider it as a bug, but as a feature. =)
