But i have also found some bugs?:
1: There is a bug, when selecting "Read Cover from: Alternative Cover"
I have specified an alternative Cover to display, if the Album Cover is not found on Amazon. Then the alternative Cover should be displayed. But instead, Winamp CD Case crashes at startup!
2: There is another problem when starting winamp. After starting Winamp, the winamp cd case gets also started and therefore it has the focus! So, on my taskbar the winamp task blinks until i click into the winamp window to bring it to the focus. The blinking of the winamp task in the taskbar is very annoying. If you could just implement it to your winamp cd case to NOT get the Focus after winamp has started, it would be just fine i think.
And at last, an option would be very cool and important to not download the covers and instead just to display them!
Because i have many music singles (not albums) with correct Artist and Album tags in ID3 ! So, winamp cd case searches for an cover everytime i switch to a new song (in the SAME directory!). And when i switch to the next song, winamp cd case does not search anymore, because it has already downloaded the cover (folder.jpg). But i want just to display the cover in the cd case and dont save a file called folder.jpg everytime!
Is it possible to implement such a function, just to display all covers for every played file instead of downloading them for a complete Album? It would be very nice, if you could implement such a feature in the settings screen.
And of course if its possible to write the album cover of every file directly to ID3v2. That would be the ultimate CD case tool for winamp!

1. WCC will search for an alternative cover then it will do a web search... What alternative cover string or text did you write?
2. The blink taskbar is a system feature as you know but there are some tweaks programs that can disable this feature I think. Anyway, I'll take a look if I can do something about it...
3. You can control the way WCC reads and saves the covers. If you have a single folder with lots of songs from different albums and authors then the "folder.jpg" is not a good method for you. Try to use a combination of other methods. You can freely select how WCC will search for a local cover even the search order. Go to "Options>Read Cover>Read Cover from" and make the best combination for your collection. In your case (folder with lots of songs) you have to set "Artist - Album.jpg" to avoid WCC to save a "folder.jpg" in such folder. "folder.jpg" works if you have a folder for each album which is not your case.
In "Options>Read Cover>Read Cover from" set this way:
Artist - Album.jpg
folder.jpg
Alternative cover
Just let "Artist - Album.jpg" before "folder.jpg" and add other methods that you need.
This way WCC will save each cover with "Artist - Album.jpg" pattern, not folder.jpg anymore. So in that single folder with lots of songs you will have cover for all of them. If in this folder you have 2 songs from the same album then WCC will not download twice, it will read the existing cover instead.
Try it.

1. Function Alternative Cover: I thought this was an option, if no cover was found by wcc then an alternative cover would be displayed.
Example:
I have my cover folder in C:program fileswcccovers
My Alternative Cover is C:program fileswcccoversdefault.jpg
Now i listen to my music, and wcc searches for Artist/Album Tags on Amazon. But in some rare cases WCC does not find any Coer on Amazon (because that specific cover does not exist, or in case of no tags ins Artist/Album ID3!).
Then i would like to display my Alternative Cover "C:program fileswcccoversdefault.jpg" in WCC. Because the empty CD Case looks not so good empty. So, in case WCC does not find any Cover for the currently playing song/album, i would like to display my "default.jpg" cover with a custom Logo for example (could be a WCC Logo! or Winamp Logo, or whatever).

I would like a feature in Settings-Download Covers for example call it "Just display the covers without saving them".

Hope you understand me now .. Because it works really good, how WCC detecs the covers from Amazon.

1. This default image is part of the skin set. You can change it freely. It's just a png named "nocover".

Start "regedit.exe" (got o Windows "Start>Run") and then go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareWinamp CD CaseOptions" and delete "Volume" value.
Start Winamp and WCC again.
If it does not fix it, I'll have to make volume control an option, not a default feature.
Problem solved by erasing value of "volume" in registry.
The value was "CDcase" before I got it erased.

Just a reminder that all winamp programs work with MediaMonkey.
Anyone know why this isnt?

Reagrding MediaMonkey: it does not pass current song's path like Winamp. That's why it does not work.
Am I crazy, or is amazon not functioning AGAIN? (since beta 10 upgrade). Don't they realize there are legions of us whoring off their graphics?
It's very frustrating, mostly for Carlos I'm sure...
when is somebody (hello, cddb?) going to start a real CD cover free database already? wouldn't that be great? Start by site-stripping all of amazon's cover graphics... then programs like these would run so much better.
I've spent the last 6 months in a major re-rip (hey, I'm on J!!) and with the countless thousands of CD's involved, this program has not only made mp3's more fun, but made the chore of obtaining graphics much easier...
that is... when amazon works!

For the developers: rateyourmusic.com is an excellent resource for CD covers. I think it's more comprehensive than Amazon.com If CD Case could automatically download from there, that would be pretty righteous. That's where I go every time an album cover can't be found.
