duckie all your posts for the past 10 pages at least have been constant rants about what we should be saying.... just chill

#251702

nevermind...

#251706

Yep - nothing but trolling and flamebait.

That's true man ,but it is true that we have to let him finish for us to have a good beta ;) , let's wait a little bit I'm sure we won't regret it so stop asking for features , bugs , etc , as he said already , post to congratulate him , etc , no tu bother him .Thanks that's all I got to say .Thanks Raduking for your hard work ;)

duckie is completely right here. he has been a memeber here longer then most of the ****s posting here, including me. and i have also seen way too many good developers leaving cuase of a thread getting out of hand from too many request.

so im going to request to the staff that this be closed. raduking can open a new one for the beta release. i sugest that a bug thread and a request thread be made for the beta release.

#251764

I think thats a good suggestion... or if that doesnt happen at least just start banning people that dont fallow the "no more requests" guideline. I want to see this progress and it cant happen if he keeps getting hassled all the time.

The point I was making was that I was being attacked for asking simple questions, NOT making requests or whinging.

Just because Duckie has been here a long time doesn't give him the right to attack other members and impose his opinions.

Myself and other members were also making the point that it is up to the developer to let people know that they feel they are being harrassed, not for senior members who feel they are above everyone else to make decisions for the developer.

This is a public forum and we are all entitled to post here. Duckie also has every right to make his posts but there is a difference between saying "come on, calm down guys" and his constant nasty attacks on people, which I have seen from him and several other senior members in too many threads now and all it does is gets everyones back up and turns it into a thread like this is now turning into.

So we have some choices, we can have threads where the developer states how he wants things to be and leave it to them to decide when they are being harrassed.

Or we can have threads that go on for page after page and are full of comments like "OMFG, THIS IS SO GREAT, I'M GONNA SPILL MY LOAD!!!!" or "OH YOU ARE A COMPLETE GOD", which may make the developer feel good but don't really aid development.

Or we can have threads where no-one says anything, the developer thinks everyones lost interest and gives up.

Everyone is excited by this project and we all have ideas about what we would like to see but just saying "I would like to see this..." is hardly badgering the developer.

Anyway, I have no doubt that this thread will be closed before long and Raduking has said that he intends to split the thread so why don't people just let him decide which way the thread is going to go instead of telling him how THEY think it should go. Isn't that just as bad as telling him how his project should go?

On a lighter note. Raduking, any word on which icon set you are thinking of going with?

[EDIT] Dictionary definition for forum -

"A public meeting place for open discussion or voicing of ideas"

Being told what you can and can't say is hardly open discussion.

For crying out loud - everybody's a thread cop wannabe...let the mods do their jobs....they're capable. Leave the thread alone and let Raduking post stuff in here if he wants. Since he requested no more posts asking for new features people seem to be respecting his wishes, so I see no need to close the thread.

Maybe developers have gotten soft over the last 20 years...I haven't written code since Fortran days, but if people bugged me to add features I couldn't get to for a while, I told them to write 'em down and when I get to it I'll prioritize them according to usefullness and amount of time to code and based on that, maybe I'd get to them and maybe I wouldn't - I didn't need a bodyguard telling folks to "move along - the genius is at work and doesn't want to be disturbed." I could speak for myself just fine.

I think what drove some of the developers away from here was that folks didn't appreciate the "free" apps enough, then got too personal in attacking each other after a short while and the developers got more fed up with that abuse more than with folks simply asking them for more features. Just my 2 cents...I've been around here a while, so I've seen some of the comings and goings...and it was remarkable some of the stuff folks had to put up with here who were just trying to make our computing experiences a little more enjoyable.

Maybe Rad could give us a rundown on what features we can expect to see or what he considers the most important things to be in it right now ? (A thought, not a request ;))

Or is it a secret?

I have to say, the thing I'm most impressed with is the smoothness, it doesn't judder or slow down

at all, even when there are loads of other things happening in the background. And in such an early stage of development too.

38 Pages long, a good number of which are negative and have no place here at AS. Now this project is something we've all been waiting along time for, but like many other good applications AS has seen, a few people always find a way to scare developers away ruining it for the majority of others. So with all that said im closing this thread until Raduking contacts either myself or another staff member to talk about how to arrange Request, Bug Reports, and the other useless rubbish people feel like throwing in. Hopefully within 24 hours a suitable solution will be found, and everyting will be neat, tidy and friendly again.

[Topic Closed]

Edit - Ive spoken to Raduking and when he has the beta release ready a new set of threads will be made to continue the development and discussion in an organised and civilized manner.
