[preview] Rk Dock

I hope it wasn't mentioned before, I just have one request:

When "Always on top" is Uncheck and "Auto-hide" is Uncheck,

And if window maximized, dock will appear by mouse.

But should alway stay up on desktop as nightcrawler1089 said.

Thanks for your great work!

Heres my clarifiation of the poof effect, what i meant to request wa:

dragging to the desktop without magically disappering the document or file = POOF OFF

and for dragging to the desktop and magically disappering = POOF OFF

I´ve been watching this Thread for a while and now i also tryed your Alpha Version and it´s really great.

Has anyone tryed to create a kk´menu Shortcut ?

I´ve added a kk´menu link and a "arguments" line into the "itemlist.ini" and kk´menu also launches but it won´t show up !? :(

Any Ideas ?

#247339

@dk[DAnCE]: I suspect the arguments line has yet to be incorporated... I tried creating a link to kKmenu and it did not work for me either.

#247353

Arguments is working for me now.

#247355

@smoke, Could you please share with us how you set up your arguments, perhaps an exerpt of your .ini file?

thanks in advance

#247356

If you get the latest version of the alpha arguments work..

as for kkmenu it seems if you leave your mouse on the dock while its opening it closes again..

so you kinda have to click then move the mouse off and it will stay open

this only happens when always ontop is turned on(at least for me)

I think the dock is trying to fight kkmenu to come up on top. im figuring thats the problem

bluebyt's suggestion to just bring the dock to the front if autohide and always on top is off should fix the problem with kkmenu

as for setting up arguments it looks like this

[RKDockItem]

name = Name

icon = icons/Folder.png

link = KKMENUKkMenu.exe

arguments = Menu.ini Skin.ini

type = shortcut

The latest version can be found on raduking's Site

Thats it....now it works fine 4me, thx !

#247373

updated the label settings (but still no save settings)

#247485

I dont think kkmenu is illegal, but anywayfor those that want it here is a direct link

KKMenu 2.8

:D

#247492

Labels working perfectly, and the program overlay icon is very cool!

One other problem:

You can't run the program unless you double click the icon. That is, you can't set the program to run automatically on startup, or create a registry AppPath setting and run it from the Run box (with its own custom name) instead.

That's probably a fairly big problem if you want to have it run on startup.

Very cool, though!

i don't know about anyone else, but everytime i removed an icon from the dock and goes the icon, well, so does the app... it keeps crashing on that action...

XPSP2 system... don't know what else you need from me, if anything, for a bug report.

#247496

what do you mean you can't run it from startup ?

I tried and it works fine for me...

you need to set the 'Start In' folder to the place where the .exe is though...

#247498

Great App so far. Just one suggestion for the labels:

Could you add an option to disable the text shadow? Or make the shadow more realistic, like blended instead of so harsh? :)

Again, great progress so far :D

#247500

indeed it was a bug with the poof when you put no poof file in your theme... it's fixed now...

I mean I had this value for the reg entry:

C:Program FilesOS XRK LauncherRK Launcher 03RKDock.exe

and the correct path, but when I tried running it from the Run box, this showed up.

Weird, huh?

#247503

it's not wierd... that's my application's dialog and it means that the application cannot find those files

because it doesn't know where the apps directory is...

I did a shortcut, set the working directory (Start In), and I run the shortcut at startup...

#247504

in the next ver I will autodetect the .exe path and you won't have that problem...

I'll upload it tomorrow

#247505

This is totally out off topic, but ive posted and searched for this application for a while, does anybody now where i can find,

A wallpaper changer that updates itself, like for example when you donwload a picture it adds it to its own database like PICASA 1&2, Sorry for the offtopicness............

#247515

nice spam austin

#247518

@Austin123: you've been here since Jul 2004 and spamming a thread like that is not acceptable. Post your request elsewhere dude, this thread is only for RKdock/launcher.

@Radu: nice work mate, I don't know why firefox doesn't want to be minimized on the dock :slant: :slant:

It is because I have modded my firefox? I've renamed it to Safari so on the title bar, it says safari, and the icon has been tweaked too, it's got the real safari icon now.

Objectdock cant take screenshot of my firefox either, weird weird, any help???

#247575

even unmodified firefox does that. i thought it was the dock's fault is it?

some things to keep apple off your back. the genie effect can be jenie like your current release or alladin lamp which is the same thing :),

a cool new effect for minimizing can be a scaling effect that also rotates into the dock like a shuriken that's getting smaller

just some suggestions. i'm just worried that apple's going to start getting angry. the poof effect can be this one in attachment

#247583

Including other transitions would be a plus but I would really like to see him finish the geniescale effects even if they are under a different name. Alladin's lamp sounds pretty good. Something like "squash to bar" or "warp to bar" or "warp transition" are also possiblities.

#247585

Great job on the rkdock! It seems to be following the other one closely. I love the added functionality of minimize to dock. I look forward to either 'jenie' or 'scale'.

Does this program work with ykdock docklets? I have been using yk for a while now and would like all the functionality of the readily available docklets.

Thanks,

AdverseYaw

Ps z is k where it matters

#247587

I can make the current version crash by dragging an icon out of the dock and let it go while the dock is resizing. If I wait for the dock to resize and then let go the icon (-poof-) it doesn't crash :) If I have any minimized-to-dock window when it crash, the window is gone, but the application is still in memory and need to be killed (either it was launched from the dock or from another shortcut) :(

another reeeeally small thing: when an icon switch for unmagnified state to the first step of magnification there is like a small jump forward and then the icon seems to go a bit backward... but maybe I'm just being paranoid :)
