[preview] Rk Dock

I leave for a while and come back to this! *smacks lips like an Italian who's just made the best pizza ever* Simply perfect Raduking! I simply can't wait for this release, it will be sooo cool!

On a slightly more serious and calmer note, I would like to make a formal request if I may, Please please please have the relevant application icon of minimized documents in the taskbar section.

Chow for now, lookin forward to this. ;)

Simply put again all it really needs now is to be able to add new icons if they are not in there already as shortcuts and remove unless you click on "stay in dock". That and badges on the minimized windows.

It's almost perfect in layout.

Hmm... I really like this raduking. Great job. Its only Alpha and its pretty stable from what I can see. Great work indeed.

well, just to let you know, that the genie effect is not the only transistion there. the scaling effect seems to be easier to produce, and i suggest to look in that effect as well.there's no distortion in the window, only resizing into the dock.

also, putting the link in raduking's signature would be helpful

you shuld use the scaling effect as defult (even tough it's realy "ugly"), maby make it so you can make effects for it, and you could release the genie effect by itselfe, seperate, so apple wont kick your a**.

RK - downloaded your dock and have been playing around with it all evening. Suprisingly very stable! Looks and feels better than anything Stardock has put out! Cannot wait until it's finished! Keep up the great work!

If you look int the options you can see that he has entries for both "Jenie" and "Scale" already so they are coming down the pike.

I really have to hand it to RK, this dock is gorgeous, and takes up the lowest amount of resources I've seen of any dock to date.

I am (quite literally) waiting on the edge of my seat for him to get this one to a fully releasable state.

One thing I noticed from one of the other threads, it seems Apple Legal is happy as long as it's fully skinnable and the default skin is not an exact replica of theirs.

Its looking really good so far

been messing with the ini files and changed it around and kinda turned it into this.

as for minimizing it doesn't work constantly as some mentioned

there are certain programs that wont even minimize to the dock FlashFXP is one of them(at least for me).

if anyone wants a similar theme that is used in my ss just grab

and use the theme.txt file below and change the files accordingly

(i just copied the default folder and replaced the bg.png and sep.png)

if you put that in a separate folder (in the themes folder) your theme will be selectable from the settings menu o change it on the fly...

You can't save the options yet (i think all of you noticed that)...

Great Job raduking my minimize bug seems to be fixed and I'm suprised to see the badges! Now all it needs is to be able to add new items if they aren't there already with the option for either keep in dock or not. So if you take the option off on for example the second one it'll always popup as the second since it would keep it's settings just with stayindock off. Totally new auto placed programs always go at the end of the shortcuts. Then it will be absolutely perfect!

Hello, all this is probably my 2 post in aquasoft, however i love this community by REQUEST of Raduking whom i have been keeping in touch with, he allowed us to add suggestions to the dock, again, and requests for it also, mine goes like this,

Wouldnt it be cool if you could turn on the poof efect and turn it off, also when you have a word document like .doc, in the dock as you release it to the desktop i really wish it should't GO POOF, so yeah, i wish it was like this for any file like .psd

.doc ect..

SO come on and add requests but plese, hes a human like all of us, so lets not post impossible things, or too picky stuff

A few quick things

1) Can't change any font stuff- it just doesn't work.

2) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this option. The dock does not always have to be on top, but when you minimize all (Windows + d), have it stay up. Try it and see what I mean. Uncheck always on top, and then press windows + D. This is the one thing I dislike about Yz dock that still hasn't been added to this one. I would seriously love you if you did that. Well, no, but you get the idea...

P.S: I'm using the pre-alpha as my primary dock now! That should tell you something about the quality of your work.

Well I don't think the 2 things I requested are unreasonable or impossible. In fact they are very possible and would help make this dock perfect. 2 things have been scratched off my list as they have been done in the last update (bug fix and badges) so then there really is just the last 2 which I don't think I have to repeat yet again, ;) ;)

If you think about how I mentioned the tasks it is entirely possible and possibly easy to do and the tasks would then take care of themselves and if the layout is preserved in the ini file when removing "stay in dock" then it'll do the exact behavior of OS X. For the new items (that go at the end) you can put it so it doesn't write those to the ini file until you pick stay in dock which then it does the above behavior for preserving their location if you would not like to write them all in. Then of course if you wanted you could also put an option for a person to change the location of where a new item will appear if they want it on the other side of the seperator. Pretty please with sugar on top! :D

Another thing I have mentioned which I think should be taken into consideration is that some of our programs are starting to include 128x128 sized icons in their .exe and it would be nice if the dock when taking an icon from the .exe would always get that big size so we can take advantage of that.
