What taskbar thingy? Tasks hasn't been implemented yet except for showing arrows under the open programs. The minimizing area is just that, not a "task thingy".
I have seen an option on where to place the new task in addition to the option where to place minimized programs so it looks like it's being worked on. And I saw an option to hide an item so it looks like the foundations are being laid for the OS X behavior. Is this right Raduking?

I just don't want any confusion as to what that area is supposed to be. The way it's been done in the other (windows) docks is WRONG! I can explain and explain until I'm blue in the face but I won't . Everyone should check out how it works on Apple's site.

I'm not arguing, I'm leaving it at what I said above. There's no need. I'm just concerned about how the features are going to turn out. Not anything stupid or mundane like social status or lack thereof.

we all want the same, sort off, we are here to emulate the mac, and not to make a new perfect os, so I agree with smoke, rk shuld just add the features that are on the mac dock, nothing more, nothing less... then it will be perfect..
Well, "nothing more"... I disagree with that. RKL has the potential to do WAY more than Apple Dock. I suggest that RK incorporates all the features of Apple Dock, and more, but that there is an option to disable teh non-Apple Dock features.

1) Avoid Apple Legal (look into illegal Mexican immigration options).
2) When you minimize all windows(Windows + d), have the dock stay up even if “Always On Top” is unchecked
3) Stop conflicting with kkmenu—if Always-on-top is enabled, they “fight” for ordering. I’m placing 10 bucks on RK, any other bets?
4) Dock appears with mouse-over when Auto-hide and Always-on-top are disabled.
5) Disable text shadow, or make it more realistic
6) ActiveTitle with ObjectBar
7) Foreign Language Support
8) Winamp/PS/Nexplorer minimizing
9) FXP/NAV crashing on minimize (also, write program for “Save Windows”

First of all i would like to congradulate for your colosal effort to provide this community with the best dock ever. my graditude is infinate. thanx mate and keep up the good work. 
secondly i would like to underline the fact that many of us are using Nexplorer as their default browser, thus i would appriciate if you could fix this little annoying bug when nexplorer its being minimized.

the dock doesn't crash when flashfxp is minimized..
but now the dock can't be set to the other postions left right and top
the only one that works is on the bottom
great~ RK launcher can read asian characters now , thx raduking:D
but there's a small bug, there are always some "extra" characters after title text when it contains asian charactor.. It seems copied from some other apps' title..

3. no problem with English, works fine...
EDIT: After hours, RK Launcher still takes only 12M memory:D
Simple, because the others aren't as close to OS X as RK Dock is. Even if it doesn't have more extra features other than what OS X has I'd pick it simply for that fact. But I don't begrudge anyone any extra features I just think all the OS X features should be done first before those are considered.

wow, just wow. this thing is starting to look great.
im not into the whole dock thing, but your dock (altho in alpha) has got me wanting it. only thing i dont like about this (probly more of a winamp thing more than anything is) when i minamize winamp to the dock it only minamizes the main window of winamp while the playlist or other parts still stay on the desktop.

I've found a bug - sorry if its been mentioned - but this thread is kinda busy!
When I run Thunderbird - it opens, I minimise it - all fine. If I click on the Thunderbird icon to maximise the window again it maximises fine, but the preview window remains in the taskbar (minimizing area).
I still can't believe how good this magnifacation is.....
not sure if this has been mentioned, but -- i have foobar2000 set to minimize to tray, but rk dock still minimizes it to the dock. i use a minimize to tray extension for thunderbird, and rk dock rightfully excludes the window from the dock. (as a comparison)
also, is there a way to set margins for the indicator? as far as i can tell it is painted right onto the background in a static place. when i change around the margins for a background i made, the seperators are stuck in a certain place, and that makes me have to set the bottom margin a lot larger than i would like. i dont know how 1:1 it is to osx, but i like how my objectdock has the indicator placed slightly over the bottom of the icons. i like smaller margins, and would like to be able to move it around
this is great, even in alpha stages it is an amazing piece of software kudos to you man
I would realy like a diffrent skin engin for this dock hehe.. maby like this, the whole bg is one png, including the seperator. so the png would look like this: [ I ], and you could give it margins and stuff to tell where the seperator is, and the edge of the dock, and stuff like that, I dont think thats to hard to do, and it would be so much better, then you would realy get the mac dock feel...
If the ObjectBar problem isn't solved yet, consider defining WS_EX_TOOLWINDOW in your CFrameWnd :: Create() call. (Or whatever MFC class you use ) ObjectBar seems to ignore floating palettes this way.
I find it irritating that Apps minimized to the dock aren't available to Alt-Tab switching.
I hear that alt-tab would get the app back into foreground on the mac too.
Is it OK if they vanish from the original windows task bar? - Consider playing with WS_EX_APPWINDOW or do allow a real minimize by sending WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_RESTORE on click...
