Finderbar Add-on For Windows Taskbar

One request that I have is first make Titler show only the application name. For example instead of it saying Untitled-Notepad, it should only say Notepad.

Another request would be to use .Mac's TopMenu. Make your menu the default if no application is running and use the Topmenu when a program is running. that would be awesome.

Now to contribute to the community a little. Here's how you can make your finderbar work with any Msstyle.

. . . . .

Now enjoy your Mac like FinderBar in any style that you like.

L8tr, HaMMeR=GoM=

GREAT, HaMMeR=GoM=, THANK YOU!

I'll add this to help file.

Your request is added to my ToDo list.

For All:

Please download the update to version 1.0 Beta 3 ("recent files call" on ejected CD fixed. May be...)

#280222

Nice tut HaMMeR=GoM=., though i'd rather edit with StyleBuilder. But opening up the stylefiles could be rather cumbersome.

On a sidenote, Landvermesser, is there any way to place the Titler text nearer to the Apple menu? I guess the little space in between is for the disabled Title of the taskbar... Anyway, just a thought.

(Back to testing Finderbar beta 3...)

#280232

Can't seem to start Finderbar_Engine.exe beta 3. Keeps on giving me a" Line Not Existing" or something like that error regarding line 200-something (mute)... Any ideas?

#280407

Yes, it is a unsuccessful file, erase it and return to an old variant.

This file wants the language module. The separate language file is already made and now tested. I have forgotten about it and have compilled the update without a language file. I'll upload the update tonight.

#281143

OK, now the mistake is corrected. Please, download the update to version Beta 3. Unpack the folder Languages in basic folder of Finderbar, replace a file Languages English menu.ini with the old file menu.ini, add in file Finderbar_Engine.ini in section General line Language=English, stop Finderbar, replace an old file of the program on new, start Finderbar. I hope, that it works.

:P

So, work with Recent Files/Folders on CD is corrected, support of other languages is added, Task Manager is advanced. If you will translate Finderbar on your language or will correct mistakes in my English language file - please, send me your folder Languages (landvermesser(at)felsenstein.org)

No, as between the button the Apple and Titler is an invisible icon 16х16 pixels. If you will find a way to insert there icon of the smaller size - write to me as to make it, as I have no ideas.

#281470

That's a cool idea, thanks!

#281475

Anybody with any ideas how to eliminate that icon? Reshacker maybe?

#281485

the minimize all is weird when working with RK.

it'll minimze everything to my dock, but then when i click on something to maximize, it doesn't show up

edit: how do you uninstall this thing?????

#281686

You just delete the "shortcut to finderbar_engine" in your startup folder in the start menu... Then delete the Finderbar SE directory in program files (defult path)... It doesn't add any entries into your registry, so i guess that would be enough to uninstall it...

BTW, i could see that when i click titler, "transparent_menus.exe" would minimize to RKLauncher. It couldn't restore after that because (i think) there's nothing to restore... Can't wait to have the minimize exclusions list working in RKLauncher...

Landvermasser, can't you do anything to have the Finderbar build in task manager working with RK Launcher's task bar? Just wondering... That and decreasing the amount of ram Finderbar_Engine is eating up (im at 9 MB rite now.... heheheheh)... ;)

Other then that, clearing the recent documents menu under windows does seem to end the NOCD problem... At least in beta2...

As usual, keep up the good work... :)

I regret, but Finderbar yet does not work together with RKLauncher. When RKLauncher places a window of other program in the Taskbar, it does not minimize the program, but only hides a window. If I "nonhide" (show again) this window, the window appears again on the screen but as remains in Taskbar of RKLauncher. And RKLauncher does not see this window, I can close this window, but it remains in Taskbar of RKLauncher. It is a problem of RKLauncher, it incorrectly works with windows. It is pleasant to me (RKLauncher), I use this program too, but I do not minimize windows in Taskbar of RKLauncher.

I'll try to write to author RKLauncher and we shall discuss this problem.

I have 3 Mb now, I think, it is not too big, but I'll try decrease it.

#281855

Hmm... That's really interesting... I was wondering why windows minimised to RKLauncher cannot be accessed through ALT-TAB... Maybe that's the reason...

Landvermesser: check out this thread. http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=24721 .max has managed to remove the menu bar from some applications and display it on the start bar. Maybe you two could work together to develop a greater finderbar. :D

I suggest this because with yours i can have my black startbar, however with the .max's it fills white :/

i tryed this program. it is great, too but it looks terrible with my current theme.

#283073

Hmmm... Working together with .max sounds like a great idea... Why not give it a shot? If it works out, FinderBar

could even be a viable rival to ObjectBar (which i dont use anyway because of the high mem usage...)... On a sidenote, a quick way to solve the recent files/searching for an non-existing disk problem: clear your recent files cache from within "startmenu and taskbar properties"...

but i guess u guys know that already

#283923

Welcome to download version 1.0 with multi-language support!

#283960

I was waiting for this man! thnx a lot ;)

#283982

Woah... i guess the changelog's in the readme... gonna check it out now... Any success in merging with .Max's app?

Any bugs would be promply reported as usual, mate... Keep up the good work...

#284029

and again: thx for your great work!

#284387

can't get those fonts to work for some reason.

#284427

can't get those fonts to work for some reason.

First install both fonts Finderbar.ttf and Finderbar bold.ttf (and REinstall not modded (original) fonts Lucida Grande)

2. Select font Finderbar as system menu font.

3. Be sure that in "Regional and Language Options" in tab "Advenced" is ENGLISH for "Select a language to match the language version of the non-unicode program you want to use"

#284477

I keep getting a really wierd error:

taken from AutoIt3 Window Info Spy.

Any help would be appreciated.

#284487

Ooooh... you can use AutoIt3 Window Info Spy for stuff like that... Shoulda gotten it for myself earlier... Certainly would help the debugging process...

As for bugs in the program itself, there is none that i could find, except the problems that come with trying to migrate to Finderbar 1.0 from 1.0 beta 2.

Because the 1.0 version and the beta 3 are installed into different directories (FinderbarSE - Beta3; Finderbar 1.0 - latest version), i found that i had to do something to keep my old settings for Finderbar. Rather absentmindedly, i just copied the config files (menu.ini and finderbar_engine.ini, i think) from the older Finderbar program.

THAT royally mucked up Finderbar 1.0, to the point of it being unusable. So, i uninstalled Finderbar 1.0, reinstalled and copied over only the relevent settings to both .ini files, and got rid of Finderbar beta 2 for good.

Been working fine for me since then. Maybe you could create a installer program that would help the changeover process for newcomers, by automatically taking the values from both .ini files of the beta 2; maybe.

;) Just a suggestion, herr Landvermesser.

Anyway, great job, as always. Keep up the good work!

To Silver9990: - Maybe you could try clearing the cache for the recent files folder. I personally haven't stumbled upon that error before, so i really can't say much.

I don't have anything in the recent files list linked to my floppy, or my D: drive for that matter, which is now showing up while running Verknüpfung mit Finderbar_Engine.exe:

Excuse, but you should not start "Verknpfung mit Finderbar_Engine.exe"!

This file has got wrongly, please remove it.

The program is started by double click onto file "Finderbar_Engine.exe" or onto shortcut " Start Finderbar " in yours StartUp folder.

I hope, that after pure installation Finderbar 1.0 mistake with disks will not appear any more.
