Finderbar Add-on For Windows Taskbar

FORGET IT, problem resolved thanks anyway for the community and it's work

hi guys...

first i'd like to say that this app is great but..there is always a BUT...

since i installed it, and updated it, i can't switch apps from my taskbar anymore cause they don't show up, i tried locking, unlocking, resize and so on but no success, the apps runnning only show when i alt-tab them :P

does anybody know how to "reset" taskbar setting or something? cause alt-tab is quite boring...

thanks for your help guys

Cos you have no DOCK program I think, so

U got change the "View Options" from View and uncheck "Hide task toolbar" and you will see your task toolbar again.

Wish you make it ;)

@ landvermesser:

--a seperade ini-language-file sounds good. i can translate it into swedish, 'couse i live in sweden ;-)

you should collect those lang-files and put them on your website *g*

i've seen that you released Version 1.0 Beta 2. i 'll test it in the tomorrow.

and again: BIG thanks to you and keep up the very good work!!

i love it. specially the 'titler'.

well... i' ve still V0.98 (yes i' ll update it) and i like your taskmanager (window -> taskmanager).

NOW i' ve 2 taskmanagers. yours of course and the programms in the windows taskbar.

i've tryed some programms which can hide the programs/windows from the taskbar but your TITLER wouldn't work than.

any ideas?

can i force windowsXP to not to show the tasks/windows in the taskbar? well, i guess that the titler wouln't work either...

#274716

Hi landvermesser,

what does 'force quit..' under the apple menu means?

does it means that i can force to quit some programs or that i can force to quit the OS ?

if i click on 'force quit..' windows xp (SP2) will log out and i can choose a user or shut down the pc.

'force quit..' makes the same as 'log out..'

Thanks for your offer, separate language file it will be included in final version 1.0 :)

Try to use in Finderbars menu View/ShowViewOptions and select the checkbox "Hide Task Toolbar". This hides buttons of runned applications onto Taskbar, but Titler and my TaskManager will work normally.

My TaskManager will a bit better (without limitations) in final version 1.0.

Thanks for your good words! :D

It should kill all programs without the offer to save files and to finish Windows. But it works variously on various PCs. Try to use DOS commands for exit.

maybe it works variously on various PCs, too :-p

Sorry, CyberTaddy, one question: is your Windows english? If not, you must change the name of your task toolbar in file finderbar_Engine.ini in string TaskPanelLocalName=

Example:

for English Windows it is "Runned Applications"

for German Windows it is "Ausgeführte Anwendungen" with "u Umlaut"

See in Help file in section F.A.Q.:

Q: I have check "Hide Task Toolbar" but it not work -- I see task buttons in Taskbar anyway.

A: Probably you use non-english version of Windows XP. Start "AU3_Spy.exe" from Finderbars main folder, click onto Taskbar in the right top corner of the screen and note the name of your "Task Buttons Toolbar" in the section "Visible Window Text". It must be translated onto your language as "Runned Applications". Add this in the key TaskPanelLocalName= in the section "General" in the file "Finderbar_Engine.ini".

Try this please.

:)

>Sorry, CyberTaddy, one question: is your Windows english?

-- no, it's a swedish version ;-) and "TaskPanelLocalName=Program som körs".

now i am happy!

thanks a lot (and yes i should learn to read the f* manuals) ;-p

#275335

thank you for a great add-on. my only question is how do you get rid of the xp start and replace it with the apple logo? thanks for any help.

hi,

you have to use a (MS) theme. on landvermesser's homepage you 'll find a .msstyle -file. download it and extract it into

c:windowsresourcesthemesMYTHEME

and just dubbelclick the msstyle file.

now you 'll ve have a mac style theme :-)

if it doesn't work you 've to have a patched uxtheme.dll

check out my website and look at "XP Theme" for this

http://www.holtstraeter.com/cybercheffe/do...php?action=show

.) Extract "ThemeXP-Patch2.zip"

(NO StyleXP necessary)

2.) install "ThemeXP-Patch2.exe"

(for xp with SP1) * O R *

1.)Extract "nw_uxtheme.zip"

(NO StyleXP necessary)

2.) install "UXTheme Multi-Patcher (Neowin Edition) 2.5.1.exe"

(for xp with SP2)

3.) Extract the theme-mac-osx.zip ((OR LANDVERMESSERS MSSTYLE FILE )) to:

e.g. c:WindowsResourcesThemes(your theme)

4.) right-click on your desktop -> properties -> themes

O R

dubble-click on the .msstyles-file

(e.g. c:WindowsResourcesThemes(your theme) theme.msstyles )

The bug is fixed, please download the update to version 1.0 Beta 2

Simply replase the file Finderbar_Engine.exe in Finderbars main folder.

Thanks.

:D

Thanks alot!! It's great! There's a bug that when I play HL2 (Half-Life 2), I need to completely exit your program before I play it. Or else keyboard + mouse click and move together will lag up.

I tried to exclude it, but it's doesn't work. So what I did now it's turn off the universal hotkeys in the *.ini file.

#275942

Yes, fullscreen games cannot be added into the list of exceptions.

During game is better to switch off other applications, all the same Microsoft Word or Finderbar.

:)

#276691

:) The FinderBar is the best finder clone I have yet seen. Really completes the aquafying experience. Thanxs for a great product!

#278766

Forgive me if this is a double post but, it appears that this is basically redundant. Sure, it places the menu in the taskbar but, the menu still remains in the same place in a given window. Don't get me wrong, I downloaded and am using it and appreciate your hard work. Just giving feedback. Keep up the good work...

#278784

Yes, in following versions I plan to add capture of the menu from an active window. But it will occur not at once, ideas already are, but I yet do not know as to realize these ideas.

For now I should let out stable version 1.0

#278821

Landvermesser: check out this thread. http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=24721 .max has managed to remove the menu bar from some applications and display it on the start bar. Maybe you two could work together to develop a greater finderbar. :D

I suggest this because with yours i can have my black startbar, however with the .max's it fills white :/

#278845

It is possible to use the font i want (bold size) and bigger font too in the taskbar...but just with Finderbar and my taskbar... not change all font i have on my pc, cause i use for the moment HandelGotD, and want to keep for the rest. Finderbar Add-on is good, but i dont want use only Lucida Grande Mod

From Finderbars Help file:

------

Q: I can use only Lucida Grande as menu file?!! And that's ALL???!!!! 8-(

A: Not all. You can use any other font, but you must change "Mac symbols" in menu items names to Shift+Ctrl+R or omit it full. Or you cau install "Font Creator Program" from High Logic (30 days trial) and mode any font. Use symbols substitutions table abowe.

------

or you can send this font to me and I'll try mod it for you (optional)

Hey there people... First timer here, so bear with me :)

My problem starts when i insert a CD into my drive (D:) - to copy files mostly (still can't afford a portable hard disk... :( ).

Anyway, when im over and done with it and ejected the disk, after a while (give or take 3 minutes) finderbar_engine.exe AND Windows would start looking for the now non-existant disk and give me an "CD-ROM not inserted into drive D: - Cancel Retry Ignore" dialog box. Even after calcelling the dialog box, it would appear again in a few minutes. Not only that, when i restarted windows, as soon as Finderbar_Engine starts, the dialog boxes (both the Windows one and the Finderbar_Engine.exe one) would appear again.

I think Landvermesser is familiar with the problem already, as I have mailed him and he suggested that it might be the "recent files" and "recent folders" menus that are causing the problem. Taking that, i removed both functions from my Finderbar, and Finderbar immediately started to work well again. No more looking for ghost CDs.

Then, i finally got Titler to work, and I started using Avedesk's updated Automounter desklet. Guess what? Finderbar_Engine.exe started looking for non-existing disks again.

At least Windows isn't giving me that dialog box any more. Its just Finderbar_Engine.exe that's causing the problem (i think... not sure...).

And the dialog boxes no longer come right after restarting Windows (like before...), its just after i ejected CDs

I've been fiddling with the menu editor for a while, trying to trace the root of the problem. But, without really knowing which process in Finderbar_Engine.exe is actually looking for the non-existing CD, I haven't really managed to do anything.

I've disabled the "Eject" menuitem in Finderbar (amongst other menuitems) AND changed the drive that the Eject command refers to (D: to E:). I'm quickly running out of ideas here.

Is there any way for me to pin point which process in Finderbar_Engine.exe is actually causing the error? Or is it actually Avedesk and Finderbar conflicting somewhere?

Anyone with any ideas?

#279892

Yes, such problem exists. I have added check on wrong addressing in Recent Files and it works as it seems to me. Now I test it. I hope to send update in the following some days.

I install Avedesk's updated Automounter desklet and I'll test its teamwork with Finderbar. Thanks for the report about this bug.

Hi Landvermesser,

Thanks for the great program.

One request that I have is first make Titler show only the application name. For example instead of it saying Untitled-Notepad, it should only say Notepad.

Another request would be to use .Mac's TopMenu. Make your menu the default if no application is running and use the Topmenu when a program is running. that would be awesome.

Now to contribute to the community a little. Here's how you can make your finderbar work with any Msstyle.

First get a copy of Reshacker. There are only 3 places we need to edit.

Open what ever Msstyle you would like to edit in Reshacker. Go to Textfile and usually NormalWHATEVER_ini. Highligt the 1033 flower I'll call it. Go to the tool menu and select Action, now select save resource as binary file. Save it where you can find it and name it Whateveryou like.ini.

Leave Reshacker open and open the ini file in notepad. Somewhere in the first section find Menufont and change it to Lucida Grande.

Now do a search for taskbar. When you find taskbar-rebar change the font color to whatever you like. with a light colored Msstyle change it to 0 0 0 which is black for a dark colored Msstyle change it to 255 255 255 which is white any variation of these numbers as long as they are the same , 125 125 125 for example will give you some variation of White, black or grey. If you have a color picker program ypu can change it to any color you like..

Now find taskbar- toobar and repeat the process.

A little note: you can also change the font to whatever you have on your system in these two sections also. I like to use HandelGotDBol myself.

Now save the file and close Notepad. Go back to Reshacker. Highlight the 1033 flower again. In the Toolbar select Action. Now select Replace other Resources. Select the ini file you just edited. Under Resource type put in TEXTFILE. Under Resource name type in whatever the Textfile is called exactly. For example in the Omen Msstyle it's called NORMALOMEN_INI. Under Language select whatever number is used. For example English is 1033. Now hit Replace. Mow go to the toolmenu hit File and then save it. If you happen to mess up don't worry Reshacker always makes a back up.

Now enjoy your Mac like FinderBar in any style that you like.
