The JIT enhanced version is noted as being about 40:1.
[link] PearPC - Os X On X86?
Well this looks promising after all, if they can get the processor speed up!
Using the example of say, Basilisk II, that seems likely, juno. Those 1999 releases were pretty basic. And slow...
I should've done this before, it slipped my mind.
This belongs in the linux and mac os subforum ![]()

I keep getting a error while trying to do this. It reads the MD image and eventually says "FAILURE: DiskArbStart() -> 1105" Any ideas?
Doug
I need to attempt again to install darwin.
I wish I had Mac OS X.
Oh well, people said we can get darwin installed I just want it to boot KDE.
If I can get that to work I think I will purchase OS X.
---------------------------------------------------
We need to make a "supercomputer" To emulate a PPC archetecture on an x86 processor.
Anyways, We should all contribute to the PearPC community espically thoes who have Programming skills. If we can get this to run faster........Well, this is the kind of thing I have wet dreams over, lets just say that.

You do realise this is only version 0.1 you cant expect anything better
the non-JITC version runs at 500:1
the JITC version is documented at 40:1 althought a member of emaculation is reporting that he got expos'e to work and smoothly and guesses its actually around 20:1 / 15:1
which for a first release is astonishing
You need to tweak the config though
use this hex for memory (0x24000000) and it will give PPC 512mb instead of 128mb but this does cause problems with some machines
also change the redraw to around 30-50 I use 35 it slows it down but only slightly but the redraw becomes much faster and makes OSX much smoother.
SF is also reporting a new version (0.1.1) already hopefully there is some determined developers behind this and updates wont be few and far between ![]()
jesus, the newoin thread is more polluted and offtopic than the most apocolyptic thread begun by TheBigB. it's horrible. 37 pages, at least 10 of which are complete pork.
A mod appeared once: "Stay on topic or else".... but the sh't flows like a Colorado mountain stream.
anyway, it seems now that a couple of people have got to the desktop, they realize there is nothing they can do. just stare agog at OSX font rendering.
not much else to say at this point it seems :-/

I don't thank *thy Seph*. Me and Raydiosis had a historic off-topic thread going, and he came in and deleted every trace of it. For that, I will never forgive him
But that would be going off-topic...
Sorry I couldnt resist.....

I posted on Spymac about this I just hate all the stupid Mac cultists on there, This will give them somthin to cry about :rule:
yeah quite a number of people are reaching the desktop now and not having Kernel Panics!
I dont see how Apple can shut this down they can force PearPC to remove all references to Mac on thier site but its a PowerPC emulator not a OSX emulator the only people violting Apple here are the people who install Mac as the agreement states that Mac can only be installed on Apple Hardware
.... Ive got an iPod does that count

It's not THAT bad for being slow, I'm using the Just in Time Compiler version which is much quicker than the generic version, Things take much longer than they should. I can launch everything on there, it hasn't really hickuped or crashed as of yet, but it does run extreamly slow. The whole installation proceedure took 4-6 hours, i fell asleep so I don't remember, and it boots up in about 6-10 minutes.
Oddly enough, the benchmark there uses OpenSSH, on my computer, it runs about 300 times faster than it does in the Emulator -- even with the JITC build.

Not a clue, I had resized it in the options while running it emulated, and artifacts showed up and I couldn't get rid of them till I started PearPC again.
