RK Launcher 0.3 - FEATURE REQUESTS

A feature that would be very usefull for chatting :

- For now, chatting is quite hard, because you can't switch easiely between your windows, and you can't know when a new message comes. My suggets : add an option by application : "List all Windows". When this is activated, all windows of this app appear in the Dock's Taskbar, weather they're minimized or not ; and these times bumps on receiving a message. A bit like ObjectDock feel...

- And of course (but less important), if the dock could remember settings for apps that doesn't stay in Dock...

I think this is the only lacks in RKLauncher that prevents me for using it all the time ; but your beta just rock, best dock ever, keep it up !

I have a request. I noticed earlier in this thread that others were having trouble when minimizing Explorer windows, such that the taskbar, etc. disappeared along with it. I am having similar problems when using Blackbox for Windows as my shell. If the Explorer problem was ever fixed, could you use the same method for Blackbox? I'd be willing to help in any way I could.

Thank You Raduking for all your efforts in this, just a fabulous outcome in store as if what we already seen is not been enough of things to come. Great to have OD compatibility and licking the chops to see how genie turns out.

I only echo the same that's been brought up in this wishlist topic that RK L also possess the capability for user to pre-select a position inside the screen area away from current "locked" boundaries of the stationary 4 sides. That is a HUGE plus some of us already enjoy with MD. It's great to have a pair of Docks where on start-up one floats beyond the usual constraints and sets up shop on the screen at a point of your own choosing.

Keep up the wonderful work on this, you're doing great and in record time IMO.

I'm guessing the answer will be "no", but any chance a later iteration of RK will include tabs a la ObjectDocl Plus? I assume no b/c I suppose it would run afoul of Stardock.....

First of all, Great job - although there still is a lot of work, this is by far the best dock or the most promissing dock I've seen so far.

Second, I'm sorry if I'm repeating any of the requests etc., I gave up reading after the 5th page.

Third, Things I would change / add:

1. changes to new programs that are not kept in the dock are not saved (in 0.4 152 as well)

2. set the dock to set 'same instance' by default as on

3. When: clicking an application with many instances opens brings all to front; Double clicking opens a new instance (or at least attempts to); holding without draging loads a menu that allows to chose the instance I want sent to front.

4. I think it would be best if you ignored the extension when getting the name of an app added to the dock (caption should be WINWORD instead of WINWORD.EXE, for example)

I love this Dock..... the only thing I'd like to see is the ability to drag a file over the icon for that file's aplication and it open the file.

I Know this is only beata 0.3 but wow I use it as my only dock I've ditched Object dock plus even though I had paid for it. I think this is the best dock for PC ever. thanks RK.

I agree 110%. This is the only feature that is keeping me from switching from YzDock.

Whenever i launch an application from the dock the dock stays in focus, it'd be nice if the launched application would steal the focus instead ...

Possibility to adjust how fast the dock "appears/disappears" to be honest i dont like the "scrolling" at all, i'd just like it to become visible (without moving/scrolling) at all on mouseover.

Hi, I've been using RK for a few hours now and I really like it! Though, I think there are some feature's that should'nt be to hard to implement, as I've seen them work on other "docking programs". Before I got RK I was using Aqua Dock (Y'z Dock)... but I switched to RK because I find it much more stable.

So here are my feature request's:

-: Folder browsing, preferably something like "Aqua Dock" had, I found that particular feature VERY useful, timesaving and easy to use, (maybe some research into aqua dock or even the original OSx will reveal efficent way's to add this feature)

-:Dock dragging; drag the dock around your screen for faster switching and setup of your dock, although I realise that it is already possible to position the dock almost anywhere you want on your screen, it would be nice to be able to drag and drop it around, (later addition probably is best)

-:TABS, oh yes, this is where you surpass the osx dock! A program, "Drag Thing"(mac) has been doing this for a while, and Stardock's ObjectDock even implemented it. It' would layer your dock/launcher and make it easier to organize for the more advanced user, and I think it would clear some clutter.

But, you are also having the option to minimize programs and windows into the dock, how can you implement tab's?

I've thought of a few you can do this.

A tab for minimized windows. - Okay, maybe this is'nt so usefull, could couse confusion to the user and probably only power user's would have use of this feature.

Divide the dock. - Well, that's what OSx has been doing all along, alas the seperator's. So it would be possible to assign the space between to specfic seperators/ end of dock to be the minimizing "pool".

Well, I think it just depends on what the user is going to use the dock for, as a usefull launcher or a complete replacement for the task bar!?

-:Start Menu! - this is probably going to be very hard code, but if you figure out how you implement the navigation of folder's through a drop-menu system.

-:More Small Feature's including:

Ability to rename item's on the dock by clicking on the tab; much better than having to open a dialog box just to change a name isn't it?

Shading when clicked. - (just eyecandy )

I' will dwelve deep in my mind for more suggestions, oh and bugz

If I want to change an icon, it opens at the root rk launcher icon folder. I want it to open up at the folder where the current icon is located. This would be useful because often I have a bunch of similar icons in one folder, and if I am debating between a couple, every time I go the change the icon I have to navigate all the way to the folder every stinkin time. It gets old.

Multi monitor support (option is still disabled on my computer, and I want my dock in secondary monitor. Here are the coordinates of my desktop, because my primary monitor is ont the right, left monitor has negative values :

First of all... this is the best dock ...

I just wish to see in this dock:

1 .When you have two tasks (opened windows) and one is maximized and other is in window mode below maximized... you mast use windows native function to select them (Alt ~ Tab)... because you can not see them on dock…

Way on RKLauncher we don't have option for viewing all time opened tasks like in OD (task bar) that is great.

2. some solution for system tray... docklets that exist for OD dont work ...

(for temporary solution right now i use program named SysTrayX with hot key function)

erm… I want somehow to lose task bar from my desktop ‘8)

Hi all.

I haven't read all this 3d anyway here is a couple of features that I think could be useful.

Adding an "hide windows taskbar" option, RK launcher can become a valid sostitute.

A tray icons pool on the right (similar to the winmenu on the left) should also be nice.

What do you think about?
