[preview] Nexplorer (color Label, Multi Panel )

OK here are a few I've found...

1. When I first opened Nexplorer for the very first time the window was minimised to about 100 x 25 which was tricky to get out of.

2. when you open Nexplorer and click the up arrow it does some very strange window cycling...

My computer : Nexplorer folder : Program files : C Drive : My computer : Windows top directory or Home (what ever its called)

3. Clicking for properties on My Documents; Recycle Bin and Network places will instantly crash Nexplorer.

I'm also getting the strange bars issue (mine are black) but from what I can read this issue has already been addressed.

I have numerous suggestions but I will keep them for when my opinions are requested. Lets get this amazing app stable before adding new features etc.

[edit] I've found another one....

When you drag a folder/file to the left bar - if you press cancel it still places it in the bar!

[edit] AND another one....

If you have the control panel open in Nexplorer none of the links work!

thanks very much best compliment I've received all day

I'm a CS major at UConn so I know what this guy is going through. I've also been around here for awhile...which helps sometimes

In all honesty, last thing we need is a bunch of nubies saying "0h n0! my xp has been fried, HELP"...it makes us programmers want to stop programming...or at the very least, it certantly doesn't help!

you have to drag the exe to the dock... then it works. It does not like the "stay in dock" function

Nope!

I dragged the .exe to the dock / made sure the link in Avedesk was exact - and it still doesnt work ?! Just a big grey window with no content.

Really DO think this is down to the author at the end of the day. All this speculation on what we should do with the project and not do is really down to a few people all wanting influance the author to think on one thing or another. This would be the same regardless of weather the program was a public beta or a private one.

I am not happy with the idea of a private beta's club. I see it just like that too a 'Club' where of course a select few people are asked to join. This creates further hierarchys which kind of makes some people feel important about them selfs !

Why am I saying this ? well I do not want to offend anyone with my thoughts on this and they are only observations here, flame away if you like, if that helps you make your voice a little louder and clearer to see and read or hear !

No SERIOUSLY. No offence indended here, I think this is going to be a great program and it might of been infact even better if the author had not mentioned it at all yet until he was sure it were ready for a public beta.

If you want private beta's don't go announcing it in a public forum ! - contact the people you think will make good beta testers from the guys you have seen on the forums for a while and ask them 'privately' - it keeps things descrete. No need for endless pages of debate on some one elses program - that he himself is trying to work out the direction of the thing too

Anyway just my thoughts. If you wanted a private beta then keep it private... and unknown. Until it is really ready :naughty:

Its up to vneuman to release it or keep it in beta testing, he picked some, we tested, we reported bugs, I bet there are still some bugs that need to be discovered, and I believe that its better too keep into beta testing before there is a Open Beta test, there are some bugs in NeXplorer and believe me, you would prefer the Finder with those bugs solved out.

Thats my opinion, its up to vneuman if he wants to release now...

Small Suggestion: Add selected state in the Search bar when we click on it, and typing into it

I have a skinner's request. Could we please be able to selected the explorer window background color? I am porting my skins from looca to test the skinning engine and they do not look right without being able to change these values.

Hey guys,

Sorry if I have caused all this turmoil by "public beta" comment.

Upon thinking more about it and listening to all your opinions,

it seems I'd better be more careful about public release.

One reason why I thought about public beta is I kept getting beta testing requests

and I couldn't turn down those people.

I was stupid not to declare that all the beta testing slots are filled.

(I think it's about 10 people right now.)

Anyway, with your help, the bug catching is going really well and I think

most of the major problems are now fixed ( flicker, crash and scroll bar in the

column browsing ....)

The next beta version will be sent to those who left bug report on this

thread or PM'ed me with one. ( Alilm and AV , you will receive it too :bye: )

By the way, can anybody make a list of all the bugs reported so far?

It would be really helpful.

I didn't have time to include color options for the last beta version.

Can you list all the parts of the window that should have color options?

I find that many bugs are already fixed or in the middle of being fixed.
