Hi pantoni,

sehr gut gemacht, Jedi! :) Allow me to congratulate you on a job well done!

There are some issues I noticed (and wishlist) when playing around with the latest relaese of Looca (v1.55 (?) - file looca170.rar): (btw: sorry if these have been discussed already, I just joined the show...)

- Move up / down when right-clicking on the navpanel icons moves functionality properly, but not the icons

- IMHO the free space separator in the status line at the bottom ("X,XX GB available") should be a dot (not a comma) in English OS versions.

- When right-clicking on a file in Looca, the (English) context menu shows up allowing e.g. to copy files. However, if I navigate to the target folder I have to use the shortcut Ctrl-V as the right-click context menu popping up there won't show the Paste command.

- IMHO it would be nice to add a multiple number of HDDs and CD/DVD drives to the navpanel (3 major HDD partitions and 2 DVD drives here... it's a pain to navigate via the Desktop/My Computer item each time - just my two cents...)

- When disabling display of standard items (e.g. Music) the next one in the list is not moving up one position - there rather is a gap showing up in the navpanel item list

However, I am really impressed by your work and I will follow future improvements. I hope Looca will one day be so advanced and developed that it will convince me to an extend that I can replace the Windows Explorer with it.

Regards,

Cortilein

Forgot to mention: it would also be nice to have a "search all local drives" option in the search tab... ;)

#159039

how do i add more main drives to the top... seems there is only network, mac osx, storage and superdrive.. no room to add others to the top. I've tried editing the ini file but it doesn't seem to work.

Also is there a way to change the main folder icon for the whole program.. i tried changing the one in the icon folder in the looca directory but that didn't fix it.

hi guys

where can I download the 1.99 release???, the links are bad

#181236

I think the dev has stopped for Looca...don't jump on me if I'm wrong here...I'm still loving it!

First of all THANK YOU pantoni for such a nice Finder Clone. I'm sorry you had to stop development for it. After trying out all the other finder clones, I find yours the fastest and the most usable.

Unfortunately, I can currently still using version 1.7 and have been looking for 1.99 for several days now. I was wondering if you could have it uploaded to a site like

http://www.osx-e.com/index.php

I hope you continue to visit this thread even though development has been discontinued.

I can't find version 1.99 too. (even 1.7 or 1.55) . I got only version 1.05 (so poor).

May someone please send me the higher version? or post them on the internet somewhere?

Ps: my email is : ------------.

Thank you.

#186967

As it seems like some people still want Looca, I've uploaded 1.7 and 1.99 again.

And if you don't know yet, Looca 1.7 starts/runs much faster because it doesn't have Column Browsing.

Thank you very much.

I have another question. Can i make it default in my computer. I meant whenever i open a folder in my computer , can I make Looca open but not Win's Explorer?

#187004

Yes, it's possible. You could send BZeitler a PM. He knows how to do it with Nexplorer and it works the same way with Looca.

#187005

Excuse me. I can't find "BZeitler" in the forum.

#187037

It's very hard to do? (set to default)

Is not it possible to put here?

#187899

here it the process...

I have not personall tried it for looca so if it doesnt work dont blame me...

You should always back up your registry first.

First you have to go to "folder options" from a regular explorer window.

then click on file types

and select "File Folder"

Then click "advanced"

A box should pop up saying "edit file type" In this box click "new"

when you click new you should get a box saying "new action'

Give your action a name like show in finder or something and then under application used to perform this action you need to type something like this:

"C:\Program Files\looca\looca.exe" %1

Repeat this process for "drive" and for "folder"

If you do not like the way it works or want to remove it as default you have to open

up your registry by selecting run and then typing regedit and search for:

"hkey_classes_root" drive -> shell --> "whatever you named your action" and then deleting that action

then "directory" shell --> "whatever you named your action" and then deleting that action

then "folder" shell --> "whatever you named your action" and then deleting that action

If this is confusing then you probably shouldnt be messing around in your registry.

I hope this helps and DONT BLAME ME IF YOU MESS UP YOUR COMPUTER ;)

#212900

man it's just lovely. you rock!

#212954

I like it too, the applefileview is sometimes buggy (index out of bounds and drawingerrors).

I like that you dont skin everything yourself and let the windowmanager/windowblinds decide which borders to draw.

Critics:

- The starttime is MUCH to long, there you have to do something

- When i want a second finder-window i have to start a second instance and wait instead loca opens up a second window and shares it ressources.

- you scale the images on the fly which results in slow drawing

- save the last view-type on close and restore it on next start

But so far really good app, looks nice.
