That doesn't stop him being the most talented singer/songwriter over the last 10 years.

Do you really think that? What happens with people like Shannon Hoon, Jeff Buckley or Chris Cornell? For me, Thom Yorke has nothing to do compared with them, it's like a joke for me!!

I asked this before the topic went crazy...

#33825

Perhaps you're right,

but for me, Thom Yorke has written more good albums even if he wasn't the most talented out of those 4.

sad how life goes really

How about Simarik by the famous Turkish singer Tarkan? ;)

Anyone heard it? Anyone other than Three_Drives?

Yeah i know him, who doesnt, they even used a sample on the winning song from Eurovision songfestival wich Turkey won! (I btw disgust the Eurovision songfestival

it's all about crap not even one good song was played, UK zero points...)

I do love world music though, last year they had a top 100 of all time with not the usual suspects like Queen and such in the top 10, but this was a real reflection of the world on 1, 2 and 4 there were songs from India and on three if i remember correct was a song from Ireland.

#33900

i thought the Uk entry was great!

i can't understand why it got "nul points"

That contest should really be scrapped... its costs a huge amount of money and generally seems to make a mockery of each country in it. Uniting everyone is a good thing, but couldn't it be done under something except crap music :)

And what about the cuban Buena Vista Social Club? I love them!! :own:

OK I felt like posting this... I love Adam's Song by Blink-182, It's my Favorite

I never thought,

I'd die alone

I laughed the loudest, who'd have known?

I traced the cord back to the wall

No wonder it was never plugged in at all

I took my time,

I hurried up

The choice was mine, I didn't think enough

I'm too depressed,

To go on

You'll be sorry when I'm gone

I never conquered, rarely came

16 just held such better days

Days when I still felt alive

We couldn't wait to get outside

The world was wide, too late to try

The tour was over, we'd survived

I couldn't wait till I got home

To pass the time in my room alone

I never thought I'd die alone

Another six months I'll be unknown

Give all my things to all my friends

You'll never step foot in my room again

You'll close it off,You'll board it up

Remember the time that I spilled the cup

Of apple juice in the hall

Please tell mom this is not her fault

I never conquered, rarely came

16 just held such better days

Days when I still felt alive

We couldn't wait to get outside

The world was wide, too late to try

The tour was over, we'd survived

I couldn't wait till I got home

To pass the time in my room alone

I never conquered, rarely came

Tomorrow holds such better days

Days when I can still feel alive

When I cant wait to get outside

The world is wide, the time goes by

The tour is over, I survived

I can't wait till I get home

To pass the time in my room alone

God thats a great song!

@Taha

Silamrik (spelling?) by Tarkan was heard over and over again a few years ago in Germany... hard to escape.. i really was on the edge to become paranoid to hear that song once AGAIN. Even worse, a friend of mine does belly dancing, and guess what their favourite song was when doing a performance... Geeze.

@deadzombie

Danny Elfman was in Oingo Boingo? i never thought one of the members of the groups with a high rating on the "most stupid name" would ever get ANYwhere... Did like their song for "Lifeforce", though. Didn't they add a song for that Kelly LeBrook movie where two young computer dudes summon up a hot chick? Sorry forgot the name of the movie.

Have fun,

McTrinsic

#34259

1. Simarik.

2. Weird Science

#34280

Weird Science isn't really typical of Oingo Boingo. Songs along the lines of "No one lives Forever", "Gratitude" and "Insanity" represent them much better...

Matchbox 20, Tom Petty, and Aerosmith ROCK!

Saint Anger (metallica) is one of the most interesting songs by metallica today.

I thought its a very ugly song in the begining (i still think so) but now i just realized it got caught up in my head and I just cant let it go.

Really COOL song. Thats when you're on a greenday-lead-singer-nervesbreakdown. Reminds me of all those creatures of the night squacks music (pantera in particular) but this time its cadilac. Fine product and well made.

-------

I know (FEW) people dont like metallica so much, :Dz: , but its ok, i dont care about metallica. I guess its because their music people dont get attached to which is unfortunate cause many of their well-known hits are apart of person whos a cool dude like myself and around my age. :harp:

Or is it because they were the ones who lead the fight against all the copyrights cases

Powerman 5000, Transform, is really good. So far 3 songs have been picked up for movie soundtracks, and all of the songs from the album are stuck in my head. Song about Nothing is funny as hell...

For the PM5K fans: Bombshell, from the unreleased album "Anyone for Doomsday" (Ive got it if you want it - it was supposed to be released last year, then Spider pulled the plug...which is sad because the album is great), was picked up for Freddy vs. Jason. I haven't seen the movie, but it's supposed to be the title track.

If you care, the scoop on what happened with "Anyone for Doomsday":

Spider: Well, it was…one of those things where you put all off this effort and time into something and you’re really happy with it, or you think you’re really happy with it, and it seems fine…then reality sort of set in.  I realized it was wrong record at the time, and by stepping back and looking at it differently, I realized that we didn’t take any chances, we didn’t push the envelope, and that’s not the kind of band we can be or the kind of band I want to be in.  I want to push things, push ourselves, throw our fans a curveball here and there…

The original thought was to go in and rework the record, but with the lineup changes it became apparent that we needed to go back and totally start over.  So, basically, we’ve done two complete records. It’s cool – I know our hardcore fans have Doomsday [the unreleased record], which is fine.  I know it’s out there on-line if people want it.

-Spyder One, lead singer of Powerman 5000, VOXonline Interview

So if you want it, I've got it. :D

well, I loved metallica, but now I don't like them because they left their old trash metal style (you know, their five firsts albums).

Anyway, I still listen to those old pieces of art.

Master!! Master!!

@okraits - I saw K's Choice at Pointfest 9 about 5 years ago in St. Louis ('98 I think it was). I watched their set from up above, looking down through a chain link fence, 'cause they were on a side stage and I didn't want to walk all the way around the concourse area to get over there - but their set was a beautiful thing, 'cause the sun was setting right behind them and they were playin' well...it was a good time!

Yeah, they're a great live band! (Y) I didn't have the luck to see them live yet as they haven't played concerts in Germany besides Rock am Ring/Rock im Park since quite a while, but i watch every concert they show on TV. Fortunately, in september a DVD with videos, live appearances and some more stuff will be released! :own:
