Hey Clockwise, I haven't heard it yet but I heard it is supposed to be pretty good. Im talking about "The White Stripes" "Elephant" album. As far as the Hives go, I didnt even HEAR about them until vini vini vicious or whatever. Didnt really like that one though 
. O well though, they are not bad though over-all. NOFX's new Album (See in my sig (Y)) "The War on Errorism" is completly awesome. The musical talent of NOFX is rather supprising, considering all of the "new" punk bands appearing on the block that have none... lol. I did buy Staind's new 14 Shades of Gray, thats not all that bad, although the Die Hard "Staind should forever be HARD!" wont like it at all, for most of the CD is kinda soft. Unwritten Law has good stuff with Elva, then made it even better with Music In High Places. Yep, That about sums it up fer me
BTW: O yeah, almost forgot. Die hard AFI people complain about the new "Sing The Sarrow" but it really isnt that bad when you listen to the whole thing, trust me, I was in the same boat of "hating the new sound" at first to. But it end up growing on ya.

So many people only know Janes by "Been caught stealing" when their landmark, revolutionize years ahead of its time that everyone tried to copy in the 90's album was "Nothings Shocking". I think if I'd never discovered TOOL I'd still be listening to Nothings Shocking several times a day.
frenzyfloyd: I've got an unmastered release of 10 songs that are brand new under the title of "Strays" (including what is supposed be be the title track, Song 8, Strays). I'm not saying your name is wrong...I'm just telling you what I've got and what it says. I found it through my brother who is pretty involved in a Perry fan club type thing...actually he met Perry, Perry gave him a URL of a BBS he hangs out at and thats where its from.
The Real Duckie: (heh) I actually had a decent, civilized and somewhat intelligent conversation with one of our more talented members, Aqua-girl. I say "somewhat" intelligent because I was involved in the conversation, so it couldn't be all that brilliant. Yet I digress; she made some extremely valid points as to why we should allow a music thread for members to get to know one another better in. I think she mentioned things like "getting to know people", "strengthening the community" & "I'll pay you money."
So after we discussed the finer points of why politics, sex and religion aren't allowed at the site, I decided to see where a music thread would take us. Seems to be popular.

Hmm...it's so hard to list all the groups I like, so I won't.
The bands/ artists that have been seeing steady rotation in iTunes are RATM, Coldplay, Radiohead, Gorillaz, Blur, Elliot Smith, The White Stripes, and Jurassic 5.
Coldplay is pure genius; I have yet to hear a song of theirs that I don't like. Radiohead's genius goes without saying (BTW, how's everyone like the new Thom avatar? :own:)
Gorillaz/Blur are kinda in the same boat, as both are fronted by Damon Albarn, whose musical genius is just now getting recognized. However, Blur has suffered a HUGE setback with the departure of Graham...I hope he comes back.
Elliot Smith is a recent addition to my music collection...he did many of the songs in the "Good Will Hunting" soundtrack...very eclectic blend of guitars and pianos.
The White Stripes are just amazing, no other way to put it. They are a refreshing throwback to rock's roots, and I am still amazed at how full of a sound they accomplish with just a guitar and drums. Amazing.

100%, in my opinion Jane's opened the doors for all the alternatives bands of the 90's (Chili Peppers, Faith No More, Fishbone, Mother Love Bone and all the alternative bands that came later), they were the link between the 80's and the 90's.
OMG, I knew that I was going to forget someone: Tool and Kyuss, I can't live without them :rock:
I will post some Charley Patton MP3s. I think they are all public domain - everything was recorded between 1929 and 1934, and Patton died seventy years ago.
When starting your collection of pop (recorded) music, you have to start with Patton!
