Still the exe can never pass the system restore point. The confirmation screen that says the restore point was created, but it freezes after that.
I'm going to try to install it without the restore point.
I'll keep you posted on me situtation.

More than likely its due to comctl32.dll. This file can't be replaced on the system like all the other files, it requires me to rename it and copy in the new file. This causes WFP to popup. FlyakiteOSX should disable WFP and close any windows that come up automatically, but obviously it isn't. Why it keeps coming up on every restart, I'm not sure.
If you want, try uninstalling only comctl32.dll and see what happens.
EDIT: Actually... I "might" know why this is happening. And it shouldn't have anything to do with comctl32.dll actually, as the version the installer replaces isn't protected by WFP.
For any of you that have the Windos File Protection dialog issues, can you all do me a favor:
1) Open regedit (Start -> Run -> regedit),
2) Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindows NTWindows File Protection".
3) Tell me if the following entries exist, and what their values are: SFCDisable and SFCScan.
4) If those entries don't exist there, check "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon" and do the same thing.
I think it is because of SFCScan. I have a feeling some users machines have a different value than the default, that is causing the system to scan all system files on startup. I am not sure though, so please anyone with the above problem follow my instructions and let me know what you find.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftWindows NTWindows File Protection key, they will take precedence over the same values under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon key.

THANKYOU, THAT HAS DONE THE TRICK, COMCTL32.DLL WAS THE RAT IN PACK:D
Wow......Love it!

Interesting. Can you do me a favor and check the registry values I listed in my post above yours just to be sure? I didn't think the comctl32 I was replacing was protected by WFP (the one in system32 is I know). Anyway, I'd appreciate if you could check those registry values for me, as we are getting closer to solving this.
Chris... just wanted to say nice job. ![]()
Been a while since we last chated, but things are crazy lately.
Donwloaded and installed perfectly for me. Great work as usual and I haven't run into anything I haven't been able to take care of myself.
Let me know if you need any help with researching bugs... I'll do what i can.
THX AGAIN!!!
This is my first post, although I have been using Flyakite OSX from it's first release. I was waiting for v3.0 and was quite happy with it, but I have some small problems.
1. On my Windows 2003 Server Professional Edition, I don't have the boot screen as expected. Instead there is this Windows 2003 Server logo and the Flyakite OSX 3 progress bar. With v2.0 on the same machine I had the grey apple boot screen and it worked ok.
EDIT: I see that other people with Windows 2003 have the same thing going on.
2. Also, SearchSpy is causing some problems like: when I try to search something it beeps, and doesn't do anything. Then if I go into TaskManager I find some 40 error boxes telling me messages like "System Error. Code 5. Access is denied" and "A call to an OS function failed". I event tried to get the Locate program, but it keeps crashing. I guess something is related to Win 2003.
3. If I want to disable the System Files Updater from Current User Settings, after reboot, it keeps updating the files and is enabled again, replacing back the files, and re-applying the visual style and the background.
Also, I installed v3.0 on my laptop running Win XP SP2, and all works fine (except for no.3). I disabled the autostart for the System Files Updater from msconfig and I guess is the only way.
Anyway, I love FlyakiteOSX, and thanks for such a great transformation pack.

1) Fixing in the update coming in the next week. Until then, can you zip up osxboot.exe in windowssystem32 and e-mail it to me at flyakite19 @ hotmail.com.
2) Yeah, there are some bugs in SearchSpy. In fact it kind of aggravates me, because at one point SearchSpy worked perfect. Then Filipe, the author decided to update it with more features and so it could work without Google Desktop Search. However he sent me the new version like a couple days before v3 went live, and he went on vacation, so no testing could be done. Hopefully he'll be back soon and can fix it before my update.
3) I'm fixing that. I forgot that if the visual style option was checked, it also reapplied the wallpaper. I'm updating the tool so that the wallpaper will be a seperate option.
Some offtopic posts removed.
Mind what Chris said earlier - please post bugs via email or PM, not here in release thread.
BTW will there be a mac version?
Can I install it over flyakite v2? Or do I have to uninstall it first.
I haven't had time to read all the post, so...a quick reply is more than appreciated.

Well I've sorted out the issue with the installer freezing on some machines during installation. Why it's happening I honestly don't know, but I came up with a fix.

Really? Odd. The site works just fine in Firefox, IE, Opera, Safari, etc. In fact I do most of the testing for my site in Firefox.

yes, it works. i only use firefox and don't have any problems...
but it's a bit weird that a new windows opening and not just a new tab... ![]()
