RK Launcher 0.4 - FEATURE REQUESTS

I'll repeat it from 0.3 requests

1. "A time delay before reappearing when set to auto hide".

Also:

2. Time delay before appearing when taking focus, with settings.

3. Smooth appearing in both (1,2) situations, not instantly.

ive found that for small windows, the genie effect can be sped up by putting rklaunchers priority to abovenormal, but if the window is too large you end up with drawing problems.

a feature so that opened programs in the dock have custom icons (eg explorer). its a bit of a givaway if i open a window and the finder logo isnt on it

Is it possible to show every Task that is open, if it is opened or not, is shown in the RKLauncher ? (just like the normal Startmenu)

And is it possible to show them with the text, without the hover info.

And is it possible to show the Systray ?

Anyways, I have two requests: One is a menu-docklet thingy that allows the user to create a menu, and when clicked, a sub-menu would pop out. The user could also drag-'n'-drop shortcuts (or docklets) into this. My second request is simply, adding tabbed docks to RK Launcher. I doubt that the tabbed idea would really get off the ground, but...who knows?

I do not know about RKlauncher but KKmenu does for Object Dock. Maybe think about to talking to the developer for a RKLauncher version. As far as a tabbed dock goes, Object Dock Plus already does this. I believe RKLauncher's developer's focus is to keep it lean and simple.

my wishlist rk...

Quit application should well...."quit application"

there should be a "ctrl+click" to quit a running process....some processes keep runnin and i cant quit them from the dock...thats why i dont like "show new apps" option....cuz now i either end task them from taskmgr....or a enable "never show in dock"....but i want it to be there in dock....the next time i open it....i hope the point is understood....

2.have an option(right click menu) to "create new dock"

(yes im aware that we can run 2 seperate instances at the same time for 2 different docks)

3.as someone here pointed out....auto resizing.(to fit all icons on the screen)

4.Some kinda tab implementation....yes i know u dont like tabbed docks...that said it could be implemented in a different way....a new approach....its very useful to have a different set of icons at a button click...it could be like a docklet....u click it a popup "set1,set2,set3"...select it and u have a new dock there...or just key shortcuts...of course its just a suggestion...no offence...

just love launcher man....ure app is awesome...."thumbsup"

I just changed the PNGs on my dock to the neon icons by JyriK (nice btw), thought I would since I changed to a darker wall.

I was mesmerizing myself with the magnification (like always ) and got a rather unrealistic thought. I think it would be really neat if there was a plugin that could replace the active indicator triangle with this -

All programs that are not running or running in back are grayed out, or grayscaled, or something. When you run the app, the full color PNG goes on.

I think the easiest solution would be to make a plugin or docklet that had A) an inactive icon that the user could personally set, and an active icon that the user personally sets.

Just an idea, whether it be made by Raduking or someone else, just getting it out there.

I really liked how rklauncher would minimize all my AIM windows as one, if you can put that feature back in your nightly build, or make an option to minimize windows of the same process, that'd be perfect.

2. My request, and hopefully no one asked for it already. Would it be possible to do "tabs" as well like the Stardock version does? Id like to be able to organize like that.

With or with out though I must say again this is an incredible app. Thank you so much for the work you have put into it so far.

The orgianl buttons are very clear when u put the crusor on it...is there a way I can get one like that for Winamp....etc....

I believe you can change the icons back to the ones that came with the dock. Also if you want to use your own icons for any of the items you generally can right click on the item select dock item properties, check on use custom icon, and then find one. They need to be PNG I believe and Im not sure on max or min resolutions. I usually make mine 128x128. You can find all kinds of icons at wincustomize and kdelook.

First, the good:

1. great performance compared with objectdock. somehow it seems to have a better framerate.

2. better context menu than objectdock

3. lovely design, parallels mac os x great

4. i like how the dock shows up when you put the mouse on any part of the edge of the screen its on. that's way better than the way objectdock does it which requires some blind aiming!

Now, here's what I think could be improved:

1. Am I the only one who noticed that the magnification is not very smooth around the edges? things at the edge of the magnification area kind of "jerk" into it. looks very awkward...

2. you need an "open tasks" equivalent. maybe a menu that opens for each open application that has a triangle under it, showing the child windows. and for those not on the dock, automatically create new icons and remove them when the app closes. the "add new applications" feature is not useful because you have to manually remove lots of icons that are supposed to be "tray" icons and don't really belong on the dock...

3. allow dragging files onto the recycle bin when the dock is locked.

4. improve the bounce effect (mac os x bounces the icons beautifully ... i hope it's not a technical limitation to keep cpu down, or to avoid copyright infringement or something?) - or is there a plugin that fixes this?

5. the recycle bin stays looking full even when empty... probably been pointed out in other posts ...

and finally ... does anyone have a great-looking large-size firefox icon for the dock? i have never been able to find one that looks as good as say the IE icon ...

I think the ability to choose "where" it minimizes things to, where it puts new programs, etc. So that, say, I can have my Start docklet on the left, then a seperator, then my programs, then a seperator, then my recycle bin and other docklets, then a seperator, then my minimzed programs. So like an "always minimize to this section" feature.

You can already do that, Alister . It's one of the values in the .conf file/Options dialog.
