RK Launcher 0.4 - FEATURE REQUESTS

The scale effect is jumpy here, running on an Athlon Thunderbird 1GHz, GeForce FX5500.

I didn't know there was a keep in dock function, because those new icons reappear right after I delete them. Is there a way to quickly blacklist them? I must be blind. :)

RK Launcher became the most amazingly efficient and beautiful time saver for my work on the system! Thank you RaduKing!

___________________

My feature request would be the ablility to change icons simply by holding a special combination of keys and dragging of an image(.png) from the explorer to an item on the launcher. DonE!

Im actually using multiple launchers at the same time. Yeah thats right, Im crazy! It would be extremely cool to be able to drag items from one to the other!

Glow animation would ba a nice addition. Still waiting fot it :)....

AND AGAIN, THAAANK YOU FOR THIS AMAZING APP!!!

Here's the problem.

I was using Yz Dock, and it work ok, though it lacked some of the docklets. Since RK Launchers supported the ObjectDock docklets, I decided to give it a try. But here is the thing.

If you put anything with a name besides English, for example, Chinese, the itemlist would be corrupted upon next entry.

For example, since my laptop is installed with the Chinese version of windows. The Desktop folder is named 桌面 by default. So if I want to put a shortcut for my desktop on the RK Launcher, i lose all of the itemlist.conf when I reload RK Launcher (for example when I restart my computer).

Can someone help? Thanks

Hi,

I hate to sound like a total noob, but with RKL, I am. I would like to have RKL always up and not hide below the desktop, but when I have windows maximized, they overlap RKL, and this creates huge problems because I can't click things that are beneath it.

Could you make a feature so that when you maximize a window, it only stretches the bottom of the window to the top of the dock?

Sorry if this has already been requested, and if RKL already has this feature, can somebody tell me how to implicate it :)?

Thanks in advance.

go to the setting & uncheck always on top - fox

"maximizing the window stretches the bottom of it to the top of the dock) would be really cool."

just resize your page if you want to do that!!

Thanks :).....that fixes the problem I had and works for now, but also the feature I named (maximizing the window stretches the bottom of it to the top of the dock) would be really cool.

First things first ; thanks for the great app! I find RK much more suited to my needs than any of the other dock programs out there (and I think I've tried them all now...).

I do have a couple of requests, at least one has already been requested but I figure the more people say they want it, the better chance it has of being implemented! :)

1 - Multiple monitor support, ie: the option to choose which display the dock should appear on. Ideally I'd like to be able to have a different dock on both of my 2 displays, which leads me to my 2nd feature request...

2 - Multiple dock support : already feasible by duplicating the program directory but it would be nice to be able to only have one instance running.

3 - Fly-out menus! :D

Keep up the great work, I'll be looking out for future releases!

HEY RK,

i have a small request,

i like the dock taking focus in all other apps, but it disturbs a full screen app i use.

while i enable never take focus when i use that app,

is it possible to have a list of apps that rk launcher will not take focus over?

so that i can just tell it to not take focus when a particular app is in focus.

that will help a lot i guess.

First post:-D. First off...great app RK. I've searched the forum and cant find what i'm looking for, so here goes...I'd like to see the menu feature (click+hold) to work with not only folders, but with the shortcut to "My Computer" as well if possible. Kinda like how the desktop toolbar in Win XP works...when you use the desktop toolbar it launches a popup menu where you can browse drives and folders. I saw the thread about menuapp, but it would be sweet if it could be done from RK Launcher directly.

Thx and keep up the excellent work:-).

Regard Dodgers.

I'd like to see an option to have a dock item inherit the title of it's window as it's name. So for instance, if I have firefox open on gmail firefox's dock-item name will be Gmail - Inbox. But say I got an email, it'll say Gmail - Inbox (1). This will be super useful for IM chats, webpages with titles that change etc etc

I would like to see if the launcher bar could me positioned over the taskbar, not behind it. Objectdock has implemented this now, but RK Launcher is alot better. This feature would be great if implemented.

u can set RKLauncher to be always on top (behaviour tab), & un.check "always on top" in taskbar manager

hello this is a great piece of software, i relly like it, all i want to have is support for 256 pixel icons, cause all my 256 px icons looks blurred as if they are being resized

best regards

#419337

hello again, i mean if i put the magnification to 256, he icons are chown blurred, as if it were down sized and resized to 256 again

#419340

thing just popped into my mind: it'd be really cool to have rklauncher not just magnify, but also change transparency.

like by default it sits small and not too visibly on the bottom, and when i pull the pointer over it, it gets opaque

and as always: thanks for this great app!

#421744

^ This would be something tedious to do I think, and few people would find it functional plus those unfortunate with inadequate graphic cards wouldn't be able to experience it.

maybe add it as a side effect or something

#421771

just resize your page if you want to do that!!

You can do this using Landvermessers finderbar 1.3. Get it here: http://landvermesser.tripod.com/

Just follow the instructions..Besides, I think his finderbar is the best so I suggest you try it anyway.

For the RK Launcher Request, I think what i'd really want would be the nVidia support for Genie effect. Really, really, REALLY want that xD

Anyway, raduking, thanks so much for this program. You are a great programmer! :D Big thanks on behalf of everyone in the aqua community. ^^

Nice app, but there is a few things that I find annoying...

As a taskbar replacement, it's not so hot - windows that jump down to the dock when minimised quickly push the dock out off the edges of the screen, and the icons that have been shoved off cannot be accessed unless you restore some of the minimised icons.

And unfortunately, you can't see the contents of the system tray :( I use a few apps (daemon tools, network monitor etc) which either have no way of activating unless their systray icon is clicked, or display useful information. Are there any docklets that will provide this functionality? I tried "show new applications" which shows absolutely everything there is running, but again most of my other icons were pushed off the screen, and there was no right-click functionality.

I know it's only a dockbar, but it would be a very nice taskbar replacement - would it be possible to "stretch" from one edge to the opposite edge? Rather than just sitting in the middle of the edge you're set to.

Secondly, I have a clock and weather docklet at the far right of the launcher, but any newly minimised windows that are sent to the launcher appear between the clock/weather rather than at the end of the launcher.

Thirdly, the taskbar doesn't always stay hidden - sometimes it just reappears and I have to go back to the settings and re-hide it.

I really quite like this, it's quite a lot better than others I've tried (y'zDock was s good, but lacked the minimise system).

Thanks,

D.

#423508

Nice work!

Would it be possible to add an option to keep the icons for minimized windows visible - even after they are maximized (like the XP taskbar)? That way I could always see what programs are running. I know that running programs can be shown, but that doesn't work very well for multiple instances of the same program (like multiple copies of Word or IE).

#425184

Did the sms.exe bug and or fix get posted already?

Edit: Ooops. Wrong thread. Apologies.

#425594

I find it annoying that when you open up a new program like Mozilla for instance, it does not show up in RK Launcher. Moreover, when i simply take focus off a program by clicking on either the desktop or I open up another window, the first program does not minimize to RK Launcher, but it rather stays in the background. Since I now hide my taskbar it is difficult to keep track of windows that aren't "minimized".

if the programme in question is not already a dock item in RKL, it will be ignored

if yes, then u would see a mark

Moreover, when i simply take focus off a program by clicking on either the desktop or I open up another window, the first program does not minimize to RK Launcher, but it rather stays in the background.

this is a window thing, what would u expect?

u can try to submit an app request to "automatically minimize programme when not in focus" dingy (in the app request area of the forum)

Since I now hide my taskbar it is difficult to keep track of windows that aren't "minimized".

like above, just make sure that u define each programme as a dock item then u will see what is being accessed

cheers ...

#427078

i tried another RockDock couple days ago.

it has a special feature beyond RK,Yz and OD. that is it never make CPU 100% while mouse is sliding over it.

it seems to make respoundence more rapidly.

and maybe RKLauncher can learn something from it.

to just make RK a better Launcher

#428537

First of all, thx for your hard work, your app is very impressive :).

The alt+tab support for the minimise to dock function is great but i think you should also implement a similar check for the dock too. For example , when an app only runs in one instance or the same instance option is checked and you click its icon while it's already running , the app is restored but the minimised icon on the dock doesn't go away. That makes task switching a little confusing when you are working with alot of apps and eats valuable dock space too. If you could just expand the "same instance" check to remove any minimised icons of the app when you click its icon to restore it, you would make me and other users that don't use a taskbar very happy :).
