i don't know if anyone said this, but i would be sweet is you could make upgrade packs, so all you would have to do was download the upgrade and run it.
RK Launcher 0.4 - FEATURE REQUESTS
I would definatly appreciate the earlyer request of having apps minimize to the taskbar aswell as the dock so I can still use expose clones such as TopDesk.
I'm not sure weather it's possible to improve the genie effect but on my ATi graffics card the program crashes to the error reporting dialouge. looking through the forums it seems as if the effect is unusable on the majority of peoples PCs. I already know that it is a 'feature' but it's a pity that it doesn't work on my PC. Is it possible to re-write it so that it is more ompatible or is that just out of the question?
Peter
Here my 3 requests I'm wanting to see:
1: Drag & Drop - One thing I'm sorta annoyed by is the fact that I can't just drag an application to the dock and have it stay there. It just don't work. It would be nice to be able to drag any shortcut and put it in the dock.
2: Moveable Icons: I don't know about you, but I love re-arranging my icons. In Apple Dock, it allows you to this. This would be very nice if I could move my icons around in the dock when I want.
3: Easy Shortcut Management: I don't know about you, but I like changing the icons for my shortcuts in the dock. Its sorta hard to customize icons for the shortcuts in the dock. Maybe add this feature.
Other than that, RK Launcher is awsome. Just add those 3 and I'll be a happy camper & I'll switch from RocketDock to RK Launcher.

Umm.....RK has all of those, unless I'm not understanding you correctly.
Right click on your dock and got o settings. Then under the "BEhavior" tab look for the "Locked/Add/Delete Drag" box. I think yours is checked, because you can simply drag and drop apps onto the dock if it is unchecked. Same for the moveable icons, if that box is unchecked you should be able to move your icons around just fine.
For the last thing, just click on the icon and go to "Dock Item Properties" and you can change the icon there. ![]()

Whoa, Thank you very very much. I'm ditching RocketDock. This RK Launcher is 10x better!
Hm, OK, new user here... so be warned, I've only skimmed through this thread. To make a long story short I'm attempting to use RK Launcher in conjunction with Liteshell for a minimalistic yet functional GUI. My main feature requests are:
1) A system tray. It would be absolutely fabulous if you wouldn't have to run RKL on top of a full-fledged shell.
2) A flashing state for apps minimized to the launcher, so you can tell when (for example) an IM window has been updated.
That's all I'm asking. This is the best dock app i've ever tried, it has actually lured me away from LiteStep after having been a devoted follower of that shell for more than nine (!) years.
Keep up the good work.
Here's a plugin for the system tray.
Thanks for the tip... but just like the tray.dll docklet, this one ain't working. Or am I doing something wrong? All I get is a default background image, and no icons...
edit: please keep in mind that I'm using RKL with a shell that does not supply its own tray service. Maybe these plugins need somewhere to fetch their systray icons from?
I want to have an option to make openning apps jump only once like in mac.

Agrees. I think it would be sweet to get the icon to stop jumping when the app opens (like on macs) but I dunno if it's possible.
Also, the jumping isn't that great. I mean it's fine, but it's more of an up and down rather than a jump. Could be nice if this could be tweaked.
When starting or restarting RKLaunch it would be nice to detect already minimized applications.
Thanks
Thomas
ability to have an offset.
ability to manually set width and height of dock.
ability to have item labels always showing.
Hi, there is 2 features that will make RKL perfect.
There's no reason to use a "dock" because it's not "perfect" for windows layout. Actually, this "dock" emulates the MAC-OSX dock... and I don't think that is good at the end... Instead, I propose some changes to make this Launcher (not dock) perfect.
1) Double Clicking (or single clicking*) middle mouse button, will make RK Launcher appear in the middle center of the screen (fast fading effect), always on top (offcourse), then, you select an application, then RK fades out! It is perfect!. It will be something as pressing ALT-TAB on windows vista.
* Single clicking actually is used ONLY by closing a TAB on Internet Explorer... and I really think that nobody use it..
2) An option, when you install a new program, RK launcher ask to add the shortcut to the dock...
I hope you release this features... It will be perfect and I will agree to use a "true application launcher", and not an emulator...
Thank you!

u r thinking about something in the line of Mac Sapiens??? do a search on MagicFormation and see if it fits ur wanting

more resources, more issues. But it would be nice

nobody is twisting ur arms to use and appreciate a FREE and GOOD working app. But i guess developers would appreciate ur paying attention to their dedication when u "will agree" to use their (free/good) products
cheers ...
Hi qhn... It's Ok.
That formum is for features request, so, i've just put the features that i want..
I agree to RK Launcher, I know it's a good software, but, if you look around, you will see there's such 10 apps that do almost the same, an all of it, emulating MacOSX... I think there's is another way. I'm not a developer, unfortunally. I'm a designer. But it's easy to see that the most of developers have the Mac Dock in mind... And I just have proposed some changes that that fit better with Windows OS, nothing more.
But RK it's ok. But is not better than similar others: RocketDock, YZ, ObjectDock... etrc... etc...
So, I've proposed a real change.
Cheers.
i am using samurize, and to launch a client i can make a shortcut like this: "C:Archivos de programaSamurizeClient.exe" i="client name"
buti can't place a shortcut like that in my rklauncher dock, so i have to launch it from the desktop
what i want is the posibility to make shortcuts like that in the dock
thanx
It would be nice, when I can choose the location where I minimize the applications.

You can. If you close RK Launcher, then go to wherever RK launcher is on your system, and open up:
RKLauncher.conf
In notepad.
Then edit this variable:
minimizePosition = -2
To whatever you like. 0 is the furthest point to the left. Hence -2 is always one left of the far right hand side.
Not sure if this has been requested or if this is already implimented, but I would like to shut down my computer from the dock, rather than having that hit Alt+F4 every time.

already in the leopard inspired release

You already can. Go to behavior and put "Number of animations" at 1.
Indeed, RK Launcher seems to be using a linear interpolation, instead of the absolute value of a sinus, for icon animation (a sinus gives an animation much more similar to a jump, and I think is what guys at Apple are using to get those smooth animations).
Hey, just downloaded the latest Leopard version and I'm chuffed to bits
It's sleeker, slicker and cleverer than before. I'm especially taken with the fact apps minimized to the dock are still available via Alt+Tab, and the kkMenu's pretty handy too.
Since this thread is here, though, I may as well be picky and ask for perfection...
Would it be possible, in a future release of RKLauncher, for the dock itself to be reflective? I love my reflective-looking icons, but one, they're a pain to create, and two, the bounce effect just makes them look a bit daft. If the dock surface could be reflective, it would automatically reflect an normal icon, and hopefully create a realistic looking effect when the icons bounced or were magnified.
It would be nice......
Thanks a lot, hope I'm not making too wildly unreasonable a request. Desktop pimps everywhere are forever in your debt ![]()
I use Linux almost as much as I use windows. and in linux I use Cairo-Dock. This app automatically makes the reflections of each icon/docklet. This feature shouldn't be to hard to implement.
The stacks docklet recently released is beautiful. I would like to see more development and customization options.
One feature I would like to see is an option to further edit a plugin / docklet. like an option to import .py animation script or a script converter / importer.
the ability to import Web Widgets through copy paste or drag and drop would be nice as well.
