RK Launcher 0.4 - FEATURE REQUESTS

i tried another RockDock couple days ago.

it has a special feature beyond RK,Yz and OD. that is it never make CPU 100% while mouse is sliding over it.

it seems to make respoundence more rapidly.

and maybe RKLauncher can learn something from it.

to just make RK a better Launcher

Maybe you could link it here so we can take a look? =)

surely,

u can get it here http://www.rocketdock.com/.

How about the ability to put the dock anywhere you want on the screen ;)

#428638

Maybe a new feature to limit the size of maximized windows, like mac

a maximized windows will not occupy whole screen. it wil stop at the edge of RkLauncher

I use FinderBar to do this, but it also adds a Mac-style finderbar on your screen at the same time which I really don't need.

It would be great if RK Launcher could do it all by itself. The method that FinderBar uses is pretty clever, but should be easy to implement into RK Launcher. Basically, the user makes a second toolbar (FinderBar names it "BottomBar") and puts it on the bottom of their screen. Then they set it top be "Always On Top". FinderBar simply makes the tool bar labeled "BottomBar" transparent.

End result is that windows will only maximize down to the BottomBar toolbar leaving a nice unobstructed Dock.

can you tell where i can get it? how to configure it?

I would like to see an option to stop maximised windows overlapping the dock. That way, options in the window dont get hidden.

I would also like to see it handle the "always on top" feature better. For instance if you have the start-taskbar hidden it is difficult to focus on it. Also, if you right click in a window and the list overlaps the dock, the dock comes into focus if you try to click on an option at the bottom of the right click menu.

The recycle bin also cannot be moved.

There is also no way to access settings without having a separator.

Not all programs minimize, eg Firefox

When you select 'show new apps' it starts showing all the startup apps instead of proper ones you have just opening. You have to chose RKL to stop this

Hope this helps.

I have looked at other docks these last few days and none have beaten this software.

Forgive me if these have already been suggested:

- An option to show all open windows in the dock, not just those minimised. Sometimes I open windows on top of one another and don't see them flashing.

- Another option to make an item appear always opened; the Finder not always appearing open is the one thing keeping my computer from being a pixel-for-pixel OSX lookalike.

Thanks. :)

#431709

for your finder to "appear always open" right click it>click on the "same instance" button

#431798

What about make it open source, so we could see some progress. ;)

Would be great to see a x64(Vista) version of it. The current one works fine, but does only display 32bit processes.

I think Ive tried all the dock applications out there and I still believe that this is THE best!

Thank you!

I'd like to see the running windows in RK launcher, instead of the taskbar in someways, although I don't like the way ObjectDock does it, I often have tons of windows open, and it takes up quite some space.

There's an app. that works with RK Launcher that allows you to have a dock item that brings up a menu when you click on it. So let's say if you press a MS Office icon it brings up a menu that allows you to choose Excel, Word or Powerpoint etc.

Would be great if that could be implemented into RK Launcher itself, particularly as I can't remember the name of the app. in question!

Here's a screenie of me using it in the past.

Multi-Monitor support would be freakin' amazing!

#433990

How about Dragging icons into it to automatically add Docklets

#434434

I like to have my dock take up the whole bottom of my screen to see the icons better because i have bad eyesight, i was wondering if you could incorporate auto resizing of the dock so that it doesn't disappear off the screen when you minimize a window.

Also i was wondering if there are any plans for maximize/restore effects for the genie and scale effects.

THanks RaduKing. I love this dock!

For those who have problems with the minimizing of windows, you can download the latest version here: http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=24982

In this version, programs does now minimize to the dock, even Firefox;)

Not sure if any of these have been mentioned;

Sub Menus:

Mouse over and icon that says say "Art" and a horizontal (or vertical depending on where youve placed PKL) expands with icons for that sub menu, i think if this is implemented thered be no need at all for desktop icons etc

Set Length:

Abillity to set the length (height if placed vertically) rather than it being dynamic

(ok found post on that, so thats ok)

Launch On Start Up:

(any news on implementing this?)

Icon Mask:

Say you want colourized icons, like grey ones to go with you desktop look, it would be cool to set a color in options that applies a mask over existing icons to sort of make them that color, rather than having to make ones

What you guys think about these?

Amazing program for a freebe, thanks dude!

#445126

erm...how bout a part of the Dock showing our computer stats? such as the temperature and Ram usage....

"Launch On Start Up:

(any news on implementing this?)"

create a shortcut of the RK launcher.exe and place it in the Startup option from the All Programs thing for XP...

#445769

actually, launch on startup is in the RKL settings already...

#445770

1) When the dock fills up it overflows past the left and right edges of the screen... maybe a feature which automatically scales it down when you add/minimise things to the dock?

2) Exiting a program by right-clicking and choosing exit in the dock makes the dock quit as well..

#446712

lol that's cuz you're clicking the wrong button! the one you want is "Quit Application"

#446723

a way to do options such as : log off and shut down! (would be soooo helpful)
