For the themes, would it be possible to show a preview of what the theme might look like on the desktop? As in give a rough estimate of desklet layout and positioning? I.E. have a preview window and when the theme is selected from the list, a preview of the layout is shown giving the user some idea before making the final choice.

Oh, I forgot to metion my wish to you to reorganise the AveDesk API. For example I heard you are planning to change the logic to check for 'not false' from desklet events instead of checking for 'true' (delphian an c++ish true's are not quite the same, so delphi desklets produce errors).
Why not remember M$' and other giants' experience. Their API functions return 0 when all is OK and nonzero if something wrong. But changing this will break the capability between new AD and old desklets... and backward capability too! Hmm...
1. I see no benefit of a script engine "inside" AD. SysStats gets a script engine inside AD, MultiMeter does this and hopefully Rimmers' K loader will do this too.

IMHO, the best solution is to have the threadsafe AveDesk object model at the root (as a broker) and to implement cross desklet / effect(let) messaging or sharing APIs on top of it, like outlined by Konfab.
This way, AveDesk can hand over the object model of a desklet in another thread and allow the calling desklet to intergrate it into its own namespace.
Whaddya think? Heavy Industries?

OK, I agree. Anyway AD has its COM intf, so I can wrap it into K-let engine (that's what I worry about)
Forgive me if I double post, but I would love Avedesk to have a smoother integration with removeable drives. Currently windows refuses to dismount USB dives until after they are manually removed from Avedesk's control panel. (or is there a workaround?)
I know, Andre, that you've been approached on this issue previously, but I though of adding my voice to the clammor.

It would be nice if in My Computer shortcut the Sublabel will show the summary of all Hard Disk's and partitions, for example i got 2 HDDs 40 and 20 Gb, it will show 60Gb and free space on all partitions.

My Thoughts [seconding earlier posts]
1 - Password/Showcase. This would enable me to lock my computer with a custom background while others can still use/see things like avetunes and notes and weather and calendar etc. Therefore i think this is a good idea.
2 - Faster Showcase loading. it takes far too long. even after i tweak the settings here and there.
and yes a more logical control panel would be really nice.

Somehow the intergration between docks and drives....eg- so you can drag a USB thumbdrive/external hard drive down to the trash on the DOCK (not a trash desklet) to disconnect it.
Also, make it so that drive labels can change depending whats in them. eg- when you insert a DVD called 'Van Helsing', the label changes to 'Van Helsing' (as it would in My Computer) and perhaps the icon could even change to have the initials 'DVD'...
Have on the menu a colour label button...going through the settings takes too long.

The drive labels can change, tick the box that says "Automatically set the label.....":

Also It would cool if avedesk could expand past the desktop (which would defeat its purpose and would be hard to do...but still extremely cool..) into all folders etc...you would be the first to introduce colour labels to the context menu to all of Windows!

How do you get avedesk to auto-refresh/auto- update?...everytime I connect my external HD i have to go into the settings to make it appear...
when there are icons on the desktop can the align to grid be by the labels as they are only for the icons now so labels get cut off at the edge of the screen

Wow, I had no idea you could do that. 
I just tried it for the first time with my iPod's desklet. It removed the desklet, but my iPod is still connected to my PC. Any chance in having it eject the drive and not just remove the desklet?

It would nice if there would be option so that the Desklet properties don;t show um in the menu when u right click on them and just the default OS menu shows. This would prevent other users from changing the configurations of the desklets

Appliance of the drop shadow only handles the background image.
If the background image consists of blank pixels, the overlays won't drop a shadow.

most likely its a problem with geoshell's desktop,
Try starting up explorer, then killing explorer and running geoshell and avedesk.
I have to use a few of the "F" keys for a work application "F8" being one of them. The "screensaver" feature I guess you could call it in 1.2 uses this key to activate it along with "F9". I was hoping you caould NOT use the "F8" key for this function or have a way to turn it off because everytime I have to use this particular work app. I have to turn off Avedesk. When I'm done I have to restart Avedesk and this is a giant pain in my buttocks. I would greatly appreciate this.

Check global settings in the avedesk control panel.
