I like this dock a lot ... only problem is I'm limited to 12 images.
If I add more than 12, it will not load next startup ... program error.

Nice work Moby. Finally someone has enabled closing a program from the dock.
Suggestions:
1. Please allow the use of folders for separating icons/backgrounds. I can copy my 30 folders of icons back and forth between installations of Objectdock and y's dock with no problems. With Mobydock I have to copy all those Icons into the dock config folder.
2. Background selection from the control panel. I spent a while actually looking for this, trying to right click the dock and locate some manner of option.
3. Clicking on a "System Item" like My Computer after the application is open doesn't switch focus.

its better than anything i could ever make. nice dock moby.
dude - you've posted a great detailed bug report - pay no attention to contrasutra. Since when he decideds whats good and bad when every post of his is based on sarcasm and irony. Keep posting in the site exactly the way you did, cause it looks like you know what you're doing !
Take it easy mayn, and dont worry - i appologize on behalf of the site.

what drivers do you have?
i have 64mb and it runs not less than 90fps. Its depressing to see its not working out for many people. Those who throw the dock away over something so negligible like slightly blurred icons (which is actually identical to the osx) are mistaken IMO (big deal, the usablity of dx9 is not a comparison to the other docks), and those who give up on it cause they see its 2fps (due to certain drivers issues) even if they have a directX9 competible graphics card, youre totaly ungrateful its a shame. Try a lil harder.
Bsiple - you got ATI and mobydx9 runs like charm for you, why dont you help those who do have ATI and run into problems and help me out with the posts around here.. (!!)
damnit where are you?
Before I start I warn you this not all praises and oooh's and ahhh's just my honest opinion. Not out of disrespect or anything negative. I apologize beforehand if you take offense to me comparing it to other docks.
I tried out the new mobydock and these are the pluses and minuses that I think it has:
Pluses:
good scaling, nice speed, e-mail checking, Trash can on the other side of task area.
Minuses:
No position settings for left and right and top docking.
Tasks are not OSX style as I hoped but rather objectdock style (which I'm sorry to say I don't like and I have talked about my idea before). *crosses fingers about when Yamaguchi implements a task function*
No background skinning options like objectdock and Y'z Dock.
It's system icon support isn't as good as Y'z Docks (neither is objectdocks though). With Y'z Dock you can have a 128 icon in a .exe and when you drag and drop it to the dock it uses it so you don't have to change it if you don't want to.

I also feel sorry for those who experience problem with this dock.
you missed the sweetness of this dock.
first time I used this dock, I had too many to complaint, maybe bcos I am too used to yz, but after switching back to yz, I missed the fluid smoothness of MD. now, this has become my default dock again. I can get used to minor weakness thing. Just hoping that moby will make a progressive update like MrAqua did with his savanna ![]()
I'm using both nvidia and ati card, and I have no problem at all, it runs silky smooth in both machine. my desktop is using geforce4mx440 and my laptop is using ati radeon 340m with 64mb shared memory, I think it is not too great compared to others. hope moby will provide a test for the dock to be as benchmark. what I did is install directx9.0a and then install the ati driver. now I am using omega driver modded from catalyst. but there is no performance increase from the default driver provided by laptop manufacturer. every settings are left as default.
I think my ati machine is better, I went to sleep, woke up after 6 hrs, go to my desktop, move the mouse pointer to the dock, and it takes a few seconds to respond( but no freezing). with my laptop, I woke it up from standby, move the mouse to the dock, walla! respond quickly as like it never been idle. thanks moby!! ![]()
Same here, with my laptop and ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 32 mg card it works fantastic. No problems so far. Laptop is a SonyVaio GRX-570 1.6ghz P4 512mb ram 60 gig drive cd-rw/dvd Yamaha sound system. Mobydock works great with it.
i think the dock is great...but lucks certain things that we are used to use by now.
I, for one, NEED the align to the screen (right, left, top, bottom).
The magnification looks a bit odd compared to the yz and od...but dont know. Some of you claims is exacly as the osx one...so i dont know.
A little but useful add would be the actual (number) of the icons (like od displays).
The dock is great because its engine is great - its super duper fast | never saw nothing like that.
I feel, then, the docks need just some tweaks here and there. Thats all.
respect.
aniba!

sorry, i havent checked this forum recently. But yeah, modydock runs great, i dont know why people are running into problems. All i have done is installed the 3.2 catalyst drivers, reboot and mobydock runs great. Only thing i would recommend is uninstalling your older drivers first. Sorry i cant offer much help cause i havent run into any problems
I'll be glad to help everyone with their problems from here on out ![]()
Love the dock going to play with it a little bit and get a feel for it first thing is is there a way to move the controal panel recycle bin and clock the the other side of the divide on the dock other then that the icons in folders would be nice thank you.
just installed dx9 and installed new moby (i've never used, always used yz) and almost immediately i have problems - freezing , lagging and crashing. i'm sure its a great app but perhaps its my slow system here at my office. not worth it for me to play with if theres problems immediately. hope it works great for you guys and also y's has some new features in next release ![]()
peace
Smoke:
What do you mean no OS X style taskbar? Isnt the OS X style, where an icon pops up only if its not in the dock. Its somewhat there. You can choose to have an icon only pop up if its not on the dock, its just not on by default.
It would be nice though to have an option to make all icons only pop up if its not on the dock, by default.
I gues you'd have to see the real dock to know what I mean.
The tasks are not split up. The area where the tasks are now in moby\objectdock is the genie effect minimize area in OSX.
The icon should appear among the shortcut icons with an arrow. The arrows tell you whether they are a task or a shorcut. A shortcut would temporarily act as a task when you have a program open. Double clickingon these icons would bring up another instance or a single click would bring the app to focus if only one program or a menu with instances if more than one.
Like I said in the Y'z Dock 0.7 thread. I know about the ignore tasks thing. But, I just think it'd look\function better this way.
I once wanted a minimize area but I think this feature actually is more important.
Ive used the real dock plenty of times, but usually, I spent the time playing w/ The Genie Effect (droool..)
Yeah, that would be better, I agree, an option would be cool.
Though the single/double click feature on running tasks (w/ the triangle) is already implemented. ![]()
I'm all for options. Because I know some people might prefer the objectdock style.

is that true? single/double clicking feature already implemented? double clicking on IE icon won't bring up another instances.
p/s: I also like the genie effect. I think the great dx9 feature is wasted bcos implemented for only zooming effect. I like to see dx9 handle the genie effect.
cross finger that moby will do that. ![]()
No, if you click once on an icon in the dock (thats open) it will restore/minimize the program. Clicking twice will open a new instance.
Moby COULD have done the Genie effect, but I assume he didnt because of legal issues, so we shouldnt pressure him. Im sure we dont want to think of what would happen to a computer programmer in prison (thinks of OZ) ouch!

I don't understand, why my dock won't open another instance if I click twice ![]()
Because I have the Super Special Edition that only S. Members get. Maybe one day you can join our (very) exclusive club.
PS. Smoke: You know you CAN change the background, right? Goku made a great Aqua Bg.
about the genie effect, it won't have to be a genie effect exactly, other kind of transition should be ok. winfx does not handle the transition very well, maybe MD will as we know it using dx9.
or maybe implement user configurable script for the transition, so user can create genie effect from it ![]()
Are you trying to be captain obvious contrasura? I know you can change it but I don't like how you have to change it. I like how Y'z dock and objectdock do it. I like being able to pick what one I want from a drop down list instead of having to overwrite it each time I want to change it.
I explored all the options and then formed an opinion. Not the other way around.
And I wasn't asking for the genie effect though I did mention it as part of explaining what the minimizing area does. This is so people know what I am talking about.
You dont have to overwrite anything. Just edit the ini file to point to whatever bg you want. I know its not as good as OD and YD, but theres more important things to do than that. I mean, how often do you switch backgrounds?
That's another thing I kinda want to avoid. It shouldn't matter how many times I change the background. The point is it's lacking the feature. It's my personal preference to have a list in the options to choose the background.
You know you don't have to defend the features or the lack of them. You are entitled to your opinion but so am I.
Maybe moby will work on functionality more now that he has DX in. But to be truthfull I think the way it is now is lacking in areas. I do think it has pluses but I'm not going to sit here and lie just to make everyone happy.
I mean how is one to improve something without constructive critisism.
Your right, we each have our own opinions.
I have the right one, and you have, well, that other option...
I wasnt mad. I dont care that much, im just saying, its not that important. But its fine if you want to mention it, because it is something that the other docks have that moby doesnt.
