No, not by one question, but it is disrespectful. You need to understand that a developer needs a break once in a while from a prog. To ask if a person is working on a program is disrespectful, you just have to be one to understand.
Looks great so far, is there a bug thread for this? anywhere that I am blind to?
how could it possibly be disrespectful to show interest in someones work and why do you feel the need to be the one to act on the behalf of another and post something like that i do believe from looking through the threads you have been warned for flaming and seem to think your some sort of authority on other peoples opinions why not just let people get on with it and give there own view :moon:

Funny.. "any news on the development?" doesn't seem like an opinion or a view to me.. it seems like a pretty bland question that pretty much everyone wants to know.
How about this for a concept: trust the developers. When there's news, they'll let you know. Most apps are being developed FOR this community, so it's not likely they're just going to FORGET to post news on their work.
This form of question can annoy or pester developers because it puts off the impression of "Are you hiding news from us?" or "We deserve to know what's happening here." which can be pretty offending.
How about we just sit back and wait for TiG? Ok? Thanks.

no your right any news wasnt an opinion or a view it was wizard who had an opinion of what someone else was thinking.I dont see how asking such a simple and basic question could possibly seen as offensive if someone came upto you in the street and new you were doing something they were interested in would you give them a spank because your offended or go on about how bloody marvellous you are because you have the abbility to do something they cant the latter i am presuming :banging:

It is offensive because you don't have trust in their work and loyalty to the community. Asking them if there is any news is like asking your parents "are we there yet." Until you are a developer creating a program that alot of people want, then you won't understand it entirely. Just let it be and don't push the developer.
asking any news doesnt show distrust in any way what so ever and as for a lack of loyalty to the community what a ridiculous comment this is a forum on a computer not a family member or freind that youve just stabbed in the back yes there are rules and general politeness is a must but you may be taking things a bit far with the loyalty comment he was only asking if someone knew something he didnt

In regards to Merlin, or whatever it will be called, I have been working hard on it. The translation channel might take a bit to get right just because of the whole unicode stuff. But I have the movie times channel worked out well. I am not going to release a beta for probably 3 or 4 days just b/c there are alot of kinks that need to be worked out, and I want you all to get a good app.
Again, no worries about asking me on the progress. And I hope to see your continued interest in my app. Thnx so much guys for all your support.

P.S. For those wondering when the expected completion date is. I am hoping to have the "main" channels completed by 2 weeks. I have finals in 1 week so developement will slow down a bit. But it will continue. I am having to do alot of communication and searching of HTML in this app so there is alot of "whiddling" down of the code I have to do to find the certain block I need.
Example: You type in for a zip code, "90210", Merlin has to go to moviefone.com, download the HTML, find out where the block of code is that contains the movie times, and locate the movie theaters, and times, and previews, and info, etc. You get the picture, so it is not a matter of it being difficult, just veeeeeerrryyy time consuming. And ya I do take breaks every once ina while.

Hi TiG4, it's really appreciated that you've stepped in to end the flame war. I'm sure a word from the man himself is worth much more than what others, and whoever has to say. Good that you've stated your stand.
And it's definitely wonderful news to know that there's now a stipulated date which we can all look forward to together and expect something good at the end of it. 
But TiG4, I believe that everyone will agree with me that even if you place your commitments first, it's perfectly understandable. So... perhaps I shall say, don't rush the development of this wonderful application? Take your time to make it all kink-free! Will definitely be appreciated much more.

dude, AWESOMELY great work so far. the program is even helpful now with the translation thing going on (Y) . i wish you very good luck in getting the the majority of Sherlock funtionality incorporated into this thing.

Thnx for the comments guys. Yep im truckin away. And juno, I should have the translator issues fixed soon, I finally got the code for the unicode textfield so that the characters will come out correctly and not all messed up looking.
Ok I need to know what the memory usage is at right now on this release. Well, It's not even a release I just want to get the memory usage and CPU usage so that I can optimize before I start the other channels. Again the current channels are not completed yet but are pretty far along, please dont bother to report bugs because it is incomplete. Thnx here it is.
