[release] Es.xxi's Sys File Installer
I would but can't for the following reasons;
1. I don't want another large file eating my bandwidth.
2. It's competition! ![]()

3. I can't be bothered spending another 3hrs uploading something.
@morgan; Your very welcome.
@Magnolium; Glad to hear it worked for you! ![]()

it cant be a compitition cuz many ppl were having trouble with your installer and my installer doesnt require to boot into safe mode and shutting down all your applications!!!!
and my installer fixes the memory leak in shell32.dll!!!!!

The most important word in your first (big) sentance is 'were'. The only person that seemed to have any problem (and that had nothing to do with my installer, it was because of the files) was Deleted. Since I updating it to say use it in safe-mode no-one seems to have had any problems using it.
And is this 'fixed' shell32 a modified version of Pack's? If so: don't you think you'd better get permisision from him to release it? (I know I didn't get permission, but I didn't modify any of his work)
pipe down, pipe down
Does this shell32 remove the "category view" in the control panel? I rather like this view as opposed to classic view. Can I option out of this part of the install with your installer? Thanks

does anyone have any screenshots of the windows and icons after applying the dll's? just curious to see what it looks like before i do it....thanks...
i have posted a link to my installer at AquaXP.com!
Is the board over there screwed up? I can't even reply to any threads there.
*edit - what is up with aquaxp - seems like that site gets screwed up often.
hey ... nice.. but the shell32 has the snow icons or the original aqua iconsor which of those???
::sigh:: i should read the 2nd page more often...
*post was outdated, therefore canned*
--d503--
@casper; There is a screenshot on the previous page posted by someone.
@lynchknot; Yes it does, but if someone told me what files did what I could alter the installer so you can choose what files are changed and which are not.
@croka99; Why don't you create a Release thread here..? And you don't need to end everything with tens of exclaimation marks either..
Well, I have tried both of your packs now, and neither has made significant changes, and both have been installed as per instructions, so I can't really say I'd say either warranted effort to install as it stands. I'd sure like to hear a definitive way to get these thinsg to install and do what they are supposed to. Perhaps the fact I have up to date hotfixes from microsoft causes them not to work fully?
[EDIT]
Ok, as you work through windows more, there are more icons that are replaced by osx ones, but things like the flying folders when copying have remained default yellow folders.
Cheers!
That's most probubly the reason.. My computer was using just the SP1a update (no other fixes apart from the one aimed at stopping Blaster). If you have newer versions than that it won't update the file (installer is set to only replace same or lower versions I think).
If you haven't updating alot of your files it should replace almost every dialog (including the AVIs in copying/deleting/transferring files).
No probs and can I just say;
If you are going to download this file please make sure you are ready to download it ALL. Currently the average download of it was 11mb, so most people seem to be stopping half way. This is shredding my bandwidth.. It's used 6GB already and it's only been out for under a week. Please don't sexually abuse my bandwidth, it has feelings too! ![]()
(Oh and if traffic goes this way this file won't be available from 3 days time until next month due to all the downloads. Sorry if this is inconvieniant).

thanks croka, this is really nice, worked like a charm, boot screen, log on all that good stuff
My logon didn't change, and I don't know about the system boot because I have it booting to another startup screen anyways. But I followed directions perfectly and it works great! Thanks for compiling this.
My boot nor login screen have changed either...
I'm having the following problems, and hopefully someone can shed some light on them since the aquaxp board seems to get a bit less traffic...
(1) What exactly are the fonts supposed to look like? Mine are really big and thin, and honestly, it doesn't look so great with some of the provided themes. I am thinking that something went wrong with the install at the part where the fonts are installed or set, b/c I would figure someone woul dhave said something by now b/c of it...(2) I know this sounds stupid, but the IE progress indicator on the upper-right-hand corner of the IE browser is gone. I'm 99.999% sure that it was done this way on purpose, but that kinda bothers me b/c I generally tend to look at that to know if something is working or not. Any way to reactivate that?
(3) When I'm browsing through the "Finder" (I.e., explorer, whatnot), the normal XP bar that's on the left, which provides details, quick links, etc., is gone...and I use that quite a bit when I'm surfing through my mp3 library or other huge folders... Does anybody know how to reactivate that?
(4)Windows Media Player won't open at all...it gives me an error stating: "an internal application error has occured."
(5) I get a WFP (Windows File Protection) error or comment every time I boot...does everybody else get this?
I don't know if you mean mine or croka99's, but my installer does not include a Boot/Login screen. And to answer those points;
1) You need to have the Apple fonts (Lucida Grande) installed. (Search the forum)
2) It's done on purpose, you can see if a page is loading by the progress bar at the bottom of IE. (I don't think you can reactive this?)
3) I don't know how to reactive this, even when I try turning it on, nothing happens. You should reinstall the SP1 browselec.dll if you want it back.
4) No-one else seems to have this problem.. Are you opening WMP from a dock program?
5) You shouldn't get that, be sure to click 'Cancel' then 'Ok' to tell Windows you wish to keep these files.
Hope those help a little.

Thank you for your response...
1) I have the Apple fonts installed...I still think it just looks kinda cruddy...but I changed that myself by just forcing the font I wanted.
2) Yeah...I figured that would probably be like that... I honestly have to say I really liked the IE icon b/c it was an easy way for me to see if IE was still "working" or not (unfortunately, I've gotten used to this icon).
3) I will try reinstalling that DLL...where do I put it? system32?
4) I'm actually running it from the quicklaunch, or just clicking any file that is associated with WMP... I'm not quite sure what is going on with it. It's very strange...
5) I hit cancel a dozen times. I ended up just changing the registry to remove the protection.
I'm happy with the changes, just...hoping someone can shed light on the rest ![]()
I believe the biggest problem with this modding and packaged stuff is that if someone updates something on "accident" (or even on purpose) with the update utility XP brings, then the mod will be destroyed (not the entire thing, I'm talking specifically about that mod for that program/dll, etc.).
I dunno...I don't use windows much, but for some reason I really wanna get this thing to work ![]()
1) Get a better set ![]()
3) It goes in Shell32 and backup directory (What's that called again? Go to Iceman's site for information).
4) Perhaps try reinstalling WMP?
5) Good on yer ![]()

To make sure you keep your modded files, your best bet is to turn off System Update and only manually do it when you need to from Microsoft's site. ![]()
