Yue Ying (moon shadow) made me feel it's a girl's name when I saw it. Anyway, according to what Magnolium described, I guess we can add a "Gu" (Lonely) in the name, which makes it Yue Gu Ying. (Lonely Moon Shadow. This English name sounds not cool enough, but it's Chinese counterpart Yue Gu Ying sounds cool at least for me. 
) And Yue Gu Ying sounds not like for female (at least for me).
If you guys think the person has nothing to do with the moon, then you can just name it Gu Ying (Lonely Shadow). Since he's not with the clan anymore and he's fighting alone, I guess this name is suitable for him.

Ok, some small corrections, there is only one "clan"...
It is the "clan" that has the zhi jian ker in it.
Out of that, there are no other clans.
Using the elements is a good idea except there is only one clan which lives on a hidden underground base on asteroid Juno

The meaning sounds feminine but the only interesting part in it is "the wife of Jupiter" In the project, planet Jupiter and its satellites take a very huge place. The wife of Jupiter would mean, what's important next to it. What comes up behind Jupiter....Juno....Who's watching? Juno....i hope you get it...
Now i wanna know if Yue Gu Ying still sounds feminine to you, the english words won't be used, even the meaning of the clan won't be disclosed.
I want an authentic name so you chinese speaking gentlemen are gonna understand it when you see it.

my personal idea, what about a name like: the invisibles. Something really simple that works on the fact that these guys are seen as a legend to the rest of the world. What about Darkness???
"Gu" has two meaning, it can mean both lonely or Lone.
So if we translate Yue Gu Ying: it becomes: Lone moon shadow.
As I have said before, 'moon' in Chinese refers to the female gender in general. You do not have a guy's name with 'moon' in it. Even the Hong Kong Manga artists seldom use 'moon' names for characters unless the character is a female or a transvesitite. For weapons wise, there are of course names with the 'moon' word in it.
However, in some guy's name, the parents name him a girl's name because they are afraid that he can't mature and die at an ripe old age. The parents are afraid that the 'devil' will take him away, so they are forced to name him in a girl's name to decieved the 'devil'.
In the end, it's up to you Mag. If you wanna follow Chinese traditions, in naming a character, then 'Yue gu ying' still sounds feminine. However, if you just want a name that western culture can't make head or tails of, then, you got yourself a name.
But when a Chinese plays the game, he will have the same thoughts as I do.
I will stop participating in this thread because I feel that have done my contribution. As for credits wise, I do not not hanker it as I have said before, therefore, it doesn't matter to me because I will help anyone within my abilities and expect nothing in return. I live by this principle.

well i have another idea but it'll sound stupid. really.
stupid because both characters sound very similar so it doesn't sound like a name. or at least, a proper name.

heh i know it was a funny name. using it would be just like using one of those "xiao ming"-like names that appear so frequently in primary school chinese compositions
all right. it's time we take a little 1 - 2 day break here. everyone 's kinda stickin' with their own thought. i mean, yeah, all the names in here ever thought up were really cool to me. i kinda feel mine is the worst ever presented in here. so yeah, how about we all go back and think of another brand new name for the CLAN and not the main character, again, it's for the CLAN, and NOT the character. <_<

I was considering adding you guys to a Research Team.
You guys are online, in different parts of the world, well-informed, and willing to build this project with me...so what do you think about it? (this is also adressed to you Rain).
I've got people designing the planets and the cities, i've got people designing the main characters, i've got people designing the weapons, the ships, the different humanoids and so on...still the only reality based research team consists of me and another guy. We both thought out the whole history and background....so you guys tek, livecn, youngou and Rain would be welcomed to think and research with us.
I'll let you guys consider it...
In the meantime, try to think of a killer name...
I was thinking of something like an animal name...like a Panther, a wolf, a falcon, a Scorpion, a Sabertooth...etc.
If any of these sound good in chinese, please let me know. ( and not gay plz )
here's a new name for the clan, hope it would spark some inspiration for u guys. it doesn't has to be final. u guys can do anything with it, as long as it helps to reach for a final decision.
instead of explainin too much this time, i am actually thinkin only of a cool name that sounds cool to me. well, it's still kinda related to their dark shadow (stealth, mysterious, quick) stuff. but rather than being an artsy name, this is a much straightforward attempt for a name. so people know instantly what we're talking about yeah, the knights - bunch of mysterious zhi-jian-ker...
p.s. i would like to be in that research group if i could be of any help. just let me know what we need to do as a group member, and so on.
aight, based on what u guys have suggested so far. i have come up with two more names using the "ying (shadow)" and the "yin (invisible)" in one of each. see if u like how it sounds in chinese. anyway, it's the chinese pronounciation that matters, innit. so here u go, more cool sounding titles for the clan by the least contributable mike (youngou)...lol.... 
here's two images i found on a game site, edited by myself with photoshop. it's just an idea of how the dark knights should sort of look like. they don't have to be the same as the two shown here (of course not, we would do better ones), but these two in the pic kinda reveal the spirits of what we've been talking about with the clan... kekeke, mag, i don't know, it's just my personal idea.

All of these things you guys are doing looks interesting. For a non-chinese speaking individual like myself, "hei yue wu shi" looks like it could be pronounced this way; "Hey you, who's she?". I know it's a lame call but it sounded funny for me the first time I tried to pronounce it. Hope it doesn't offend you guys.

@ Youngou : Hei Ying or (Yin) Wu Shi, sounds a little too 'warrior' and 'War' like. It's as if these guys are preparing to go into a battle.
It might be a name more suitable for a MMORTS game instead of a MMORPG.
Ying- shadow. Shadow signifies darkness, the unknown, the forbidding feeling. By adding "Hei", which means black to Ying, it's redundant.
If you want, you can shorten it to 'Ying Wu Shi', which means Shadow Warrior.
For eg. ANsatsu-BUtai, meaning assisination squad in Japanese becomes simply ANBU.
Short and simple.
Or the clan name can just have a character "Ying" to signify it's existence in the dark and unknown.
Play around more with variations. I'm here to give my opinions and variations on the suggested names. hope you guys won't mind. :ninja:

uhm aight first off,
your picture of the knight youngou, sorry but way out of what it will look like...
no offence but the whole project takes place in 600 years, on different planets and sattelites, these guys are not gonna dress up samurai style. They do indeed follow an ancient ritual, but as far as wearing a wooden and bronze heavy armor against automatic uranium machine guns....
The thing is, these guys can easily be killed IF and only IF they are seen long enough for a soldier to aim and shoot. They do a single attack to quickly kill and then disappear. Therefore, any kind of armor would be useless from my point of view. Better dress them up with something sleek, dark and silent.
Now, i'd like a short name like one word, me and Rain thought of Chi Sa but i'd like it even shorter. The Ying example was interesting but the thing is i don't like the way it sounds.
Do you guys know any other names for a ninja???? Something that sounds more, darker. These guys, even though they are nice amongst each other and are willing to free the world one day can be very evil too. Any outlander is slaughtered, Anyone suspected of being friendly with the enemy is killed and so on. They have to sound a bit evil even though they are the hope of peace and the root of the main hero.
To youngou: of course i'd like you to be in the team, let's just hope tek and livecn agree too...it's a team, after all...

hi rain. welcome back to the thread. it's always great to have you around. u know how this thing requires so much of a combined knowledge, rather than just a person's racking brain.
and mag. yeah i use photoshop a lot for my own design and work. but i wouldn't say if i am good or not. cos i tend not to judge my own capability since it often ended up with different ideas from different people. so yeah, i design, if u want anything from me creative-wise, i can give it a try...lol...
p.s. i think this forum should enable us to delete some of our own posted messages... sooner or later this thread's gonna be the biggest none-moddin' related topic on the aqua-soft...lol...

If you (my favorite team) guys are good with photoshop or something or simply hand drawing just show me what you can do. We don't need main designers but we do need sketch designers!
(which means it's mostly for the game)

Some cool updates: I met the executive producer of the animated films of the ONF today and my project has been pre-approved...we just gotta build it all up and present the whole thing now!
Next up, youngou's idea to change topic name is good.
First assignment to my research team: Find a new name for the topic.
Once you find it i'll contact a mod or an admin for the name change...
If we attract more people we might then get our own section!
