as i said, u're welcome magnolium. i am just doing what a member here should do, only with twice the effort. and i am glad that you chose my translation in the end. it's such an encouragement, feels much better than tryin to win the signature contest. lol... :D

if possible, i'd appreciate if u would show me ur finished work later on.. :own:

#49958

Your name was noted youngou, it'll be a pleasure to show you guys the completed work once it is done!

I'll also keep you guys updated on the developpment of the zhi jiao dao if you guys want too.

Once you know to what project this is related your jaws are all gonna drop....if it ends up being as nice as we see it so far...

I still need some feedback from livecn and Rain!!!

Again, thanks everyone! :D

#49977

@magnolium, iI'm glad to be able to help you. As for credits, there's no need to give me any, because when I give my helping hand, I do not expect anything back in return.

As for the in depth Martial Arts know-hows, you can drop me an ICQ off-line msg and I will reply you (Different time zones). I'm on MSN more btw. Hope to see this game out soon.

#49999

Magnolium, good luck! No credits needed. :)

Now Zhi Jian Dao also sounds OK for me. (Y)

#50020

I'm happy that everyone is happy!

@Rain, i'll drop you a msg on icq as soon as im back on the project (taking some time off now)

To all,

the project consists of 3 movies, 1 animated movie (or serie) and then maybe a game based on the HL2 engine or the morrowind one...

Of course, you can understand this is all elaborated on a long path but the zhi jian ker will be seen in the first movie

As to livecn and Rain, i insist that you 2 be also in the credits, it is not something to be expected in return but as a present from me.

#50167

Thanks Magnolium!

Cannot wait to see the movies..... and the GAME based on HL2 engine!!!

That must be a BIG thing!

:who's your daddy:

#50200

can't wait to see them either.. DO keep us updated on their progress (Y)

#50214

wow, magnolium, that sounds like sth really big. please please do keep us posted... (Y) btw, if u need further help, just ask away, ai? cheers and good luck.

#50253

sure thing guys!!

But as for the game, you'll have to wait at least till the first movie is out...

We plan to make it an rpg...but really really really freestyle:

You wanna do this, you do it!

As of Online: You wanna steal the best item from someone then kill him, you do it!!

There should be no main quests, only side quests so you do what you wanna do when you wanna do it.

If you'd like to be a pirate, you find them you join them!

As you can see, we really loved the morrowind concept!!

Now, unlike some people are asuming now, i can let you in on this:

The project is based in 600 years from now. It is all based on actual facts and the things invented could be mistaken as real things.

i.e. There are no teleporters or warp speed...

It's basically our world in 600 years from now.

The first movie will start with a main character who is also a zhi jian ker.

The second movie is gonna be a prequel and the third a sequel to the prequel.

So far we got the story background set, so we aged 600 years of history, we got all of our main characters selected, we only need to define them further more.

After that we will build the current story for the first movie.

The part with the zhi jiao dao and the zhi jian ker are very important parts in the movie since it all comes from the main character and his past.

But!!

The second and third movie will be containing much more details and parts about the zhi jian pai. Since the population that practice this style are a key part in the history of this project.

So that's about as much as i can tell you guys for now...

i'll keep you all updated.

:rule: :rule: :D

#50329

ouuuuuu, i don't know about everyone, but that's really a game i'm lookin' forward to. now it all sounds perfect, but how's the actual work goin'? are you doin' this alone? cos for as far as i know, u need a really cool graphic team for an rpg game like that and the visual effect is rather as important too. all right, alright, i tend not to be so excited yet and speak too much, but then again, hey i really do wish the game would be sth of a successful hit... and u have the entire forum of us to back you up. go go go... :own:

#50488

No, i am not alone actually, there are about 36-40 people working on it.

Here's the how:

I was studying cinema and i was talking for no reason with a teacher and him and i got to talk about how i made my first movies and that really impressed him. So we met again and talked more and more and then he offered me this: During this Summer, you start a project by yourself and it has to come from you. When school starts, you present me the project and we'll see.

I presented it to him and he found it genious so he's funding me with contacts and people to work with. I then signed a contract, found myself a team and here we are working on the project!

Now, related to the game, We know what we want and we have our roots on that but there is nobody working on it for now. But the thing is, we do have so awesome graphic people working with us

Our main concentration is the project by itself and then the first movie.

goNeatWorks

These guys are working with us.

You see, what's original about this project is that its true to us. It's a good story and of course it's possible to add more and more details and substories

That's why its so suitable for a game!

In the game, you would also play in the year 2608 but you wouldn't actually be or play with, the heroes of the main movie. You would decide from which planet, population, social class you are then you would start the game, on your home planet, in your house, with a couple of things, some money and basic defense and the rest would be up to you!

Of course, this game would have quite a hard learning curve so that's why we came up with this tutorial.

In the main menu you would have an Information button and a start game button, the start game would then get you to a submenu with this: Basic Learning Class and Advanced Learning Class

Once you choose basic, the game would start with you in some kind of huge gymnasium. But you as a kid, learning the basic stuff with a teacher. The the advanced learning class would be you as an adolescent with a tutor and then once done you would create your own character and start the real game...

What you guys think??? :joystick: :joystick:

#50565

sounds great.. but maybe you could make it a little unique from other games which share a similar storyline. (Y)

#50590

uhm, i'm afraid i don't understand tek: you don't even know the story!?

#50602

i think what tek means is that, he hopes this game will be sth out of ordinary. because there're many similar games out there. regardless of their storylines, cos they freakin' look the same to me. a number of them are literally craps. and a number of the others sure do claim to redefine the visual effect and shxt, but only to be found out later with what we called lame-a*s storyline.

plus, i am sure we'd all agree with this - we here all require something that's pretty high standard or say, proly done. i hope this wouldn't give u too much pressure. but yeah, the whole forum is weighing on you... lol... just playing... do what u do and bring out the best of you.... again, go go go mag... :own: (Y)

#50751

LOL i get what you mean, well i've played alot of games, I'm the kinda guy that's gonna play a game for a week and never touch it again.

The only game that kept me playing was actually morrowind but then i stopped...why? not enough freedom! This is why i love GTA so much, you have freedom!!!

So, we realized that in order to get as much freedom as we want, we need to remove a main quest and let the game be filled with side quests

Thst way, you don't feel the need or you don't have to play with the main quest in order to advance in the game.

What i loved about morrowind: Download myself a nice house with secret passages and stuff then travel through the country and steal as much as you can and if you're seen, you kill him.

You see, that's not a main quest at all and it gets more and more interesting since you wanna get harder stuff to steal and then you wanna sell it all. to make money but you keep your most prized possessions.

This is all possible in a game with a concept like ours.

You start off with your house but you don't like it, you go make some money and buy another one somewhere... OR you simply get in the house you find beautiful, kill its residents and live there!

The other thing we want is non-leveled npcs and enemies. That way a ****ie that thinks he can go and kill a lieutnant in the army and survive will die trying!

So a loser stays a loser and when you become better, he doesn't become better!

That's why it's not gonna be like other games since there won't be a stupid save the world story!

:D

#50789

@ All : True, there's alot of "save the world" kinda heroes out there, let it be in games or movies.

I think, if there's a game, whereby, people can be themselves, or be a "baddy", in an alternate reality, a world where a gamer can choose who he or she really want to be. A world that's vast and big, filled with unknown with infinite outcomes is what is going to make the game itself interesting.

It is because in the game, it's just like reality, too vast and big, filled with too many unknown factors and that will raise gamers'' curiosity to find out what kind of "world" it is, in the game itself.

Frankly speaking, a game should cater itself to harcore "level-up" gamers and casual gamers who just want to take a break from reality.

I have been beta-tester for Shattered Galaxy, Elemental Saga, Ragnarok (since alpha, Korean and English) and Shining Lore (Korean and Chinese).

Somehow, when I'm in these games, I still feel "restricted", because there's nothing much for me to explore, except leveling up.

I do agree with what Magnolium has come up with. I don't need another "save the world" game.

Sorry for the rant.

#50855

Making it big and vast is what's the most difficult. When a game is 6 cd big, it attracts less people and costs alot to do and to buy.

To an extend, it is possible to make it pretty big and vast, but the player will always find the limits of the game. The thing is, once he found the limits, he has to keep on playing it and what we've come up with for that sounds interesting: You make every "city" filled of different stuff that can all be interactive whether it's useful or not for the player! after that you fill outside the cities with vast areas with some unknown danger and subquests, hidden cities, bases and so on...

Interesting or not?

#50868

Not a bad idea. But, can we include an option of building a home in the game itself?

Home owners need to provide security on their own, ie, installing high tech intruder survelliance system, if not, anyone with a "pick lock" can get into the house. Customising the house would be nice too, whether it's high tech style or traditional. It will attract people who just wants to get away from reality for a while and chat with online friends.

Is it a feasible idea?

#50869

Actually what we thought is pretty similar except one thing:

Building a home online would mean import it to a server and since the online version would be a persistent online rpg it would be possible but with a tool outside the game like a HouseMaker....

Our concept though is pretty interesting.

The houses will be all different depending on the planet your living on.

Now, you just started the game and you've been randomly given the house003

So you go to your room, there would be a small electornic panel on the wall which gives you access to the house menu. In that menu there would be something like this: Lock House , Call Authority, Sell House, Change House Name.

With the Lock House button you could then set the lock level, the highest the longer it takes time to lock/unlock.

Call Authority would call for the "law" at your house if something happens. Sell House with a price set but you can change it if your good at bargining. and Change house name...

Now you can buy unoccupied houses but if you want a nice one that is occupied you can break in, kill everyone before they call for help and get the key so you can lock it. Unfortunately, if somebody breaks in after you've settled yourself and you call for help, it's you they're gonna arrest.

So, since the house concept looks cool to me, you can get any house you want when you're good enough, We would probably release the HouseMaker after the initial release of the game.

#50924

honestly, i myself is a big advanture game lover  cos i really wanna use my brain  not in the way as you think how you can aim more accurately so as to blow a guy's brain out in one shot :who's your daddy: nor in it how u can group up a dozen dark templars to kick the zerg's asses outta ur turf  but in a way in which u really situate urself in the game and discover the truth of sth :canadian: games such as, "the forgotten", "myth I - III", "silent hill 2" still appeal to me big time. :own: is ur game any close to that, kekeke, any good for me? no worry if it's not, cos i can still blow a dude's balls off in one shot and sweep the marine's hq with 3 dozens of draggons... :who's your daddy: to me if it's a good, then it's good game (Y)

#51403

Thats actually an interesting questiong. Since the game won't have any main quest. All of the sub-quests can be varied. What i mean is, you can get a quest that would go like: Get in that warehouse, kill all the guards, unlock the basement's security system, go in, steal that object, get out and bring it back to me. As it can also be Find that weak terminal during that set period of time and hack in and retrieve everything you can. Practically, we can design any quests we want! The main purpose of the game is actually to Live in that world. If you start the game thinking you gonna look for people to raise your voice and start a rebellion, you will actually be able to do so! On the other hand, if you wanna get in that game, do small jobs to get good money and then buy yourself a rocking house and then steal all of the most prized objects and expose them in your house, you can!!!

If you simply wanna travel and explore, you can!!! Trademarket? you can!!

The engine would be a little bit complex so it would basically imply that we release a set of tools after the release of the game such as a HouseMaker,Quest Maker,Planet Maker,ShipMaker and an Armors and Clothing Maker.

You feel you wanna be part of the law, you will actually be able! So that leaves so place for a double agent, you create your character as a guy that comes from that certain planet in that high social class, you train, you become a cop and you can sell out infos, guns, ships and pretty much everything as long as you don't get caught!!

Does it sounds interesting or similar to Myth or silent hill ??

#51486

haha, nothing personal, really, now it starts to sound like "the sims" to me. like, u'll be able to decide what your characters are. once u've decided u wanna have them careers so u build houses, make money (or steal it), construct ur lives all from ground up (or maybe just totally grab it from someone). haha, want entertainment? kill someone! want fashion? buy ur very own style from a stylist or sth! want excitement? rage a war with some gangs with ur online pals! lol, i have started to really like your game mag, i mean, i even start to concern how i am gonna be able to have a copy once it's out. do i need to buy it? or simply download it, and whos gonna host the game (no doubt it's gonna be f***ing big, thinking of dvd?).

p.s. just a thought - when do u think the game's gonna be finished, got a vague idea?

#51582

Honestly i can't tell you when it's gonna be finished, i don't know at all...

I can tell you this, it's not gonna be in 2004, probably after...

You'll probably have to buy it, the thing is, if its persistent online, people would have to pay per month...that makes me think we're gonna lose some people here...

so i thought that maybe we can release 2 packs, the main single player version and the Online package in which you can host your own server so you can play with your friends and everything and you won't pay per month...Or you can go directly to the big ass server and pay per month....

We are unsure of that at this point...

Hopefully, we would like to have Ubi-Soft to back us up....but as of that we will know maybe in early 2004...

The thing is, i don't know if we will be able to export our game over Asia and Europe so uh since you guys are really great and helped the project alot i might as well send you a copy over there....

#51605

yeah, i was just wondering if it was a commercial game at all. i mean i thought it was a game written for fun or for us borad members. but now i can definitely smell some seious sh*t from over here in london. lol... alright then, i believe that this is gonna be one of those games that are sold in store. that's why i'd like to see it be a hit. i mean, gosh, my name is in the credit. lol...

#51715

LOL, you know is in the project's credits so you're gonna be in the animated serie, the movie(s) and the game...

Actually, i got one more request for you guys:

those zhi jian ker, they are gonna be probably a small group, coming from a hidden base in an asteroid in between the sun and jupiter, there are very few of them and i'd like you guys to find a suitable name for them

in the same pattern as the bladestopper, like in chineese, with the signs, the meaning and the pronounciation...

Pleeease!!!???? :(
