I've always loved Macs and thought they were better computers over all. But, I wasnt as faithful and loyal to them as I am now. Aqua-soft got me back into the Mac world and made me realize how much of a Mac lover I really am. Before aqua-soft I just thought Macs were great, but I never realized how truly great things they really were. So, thanks Aqua-Soft for getting me into Apple again and making me see my true inner self. :wipe tears:

Also none of the categories fit me that perfectly. I loved Macs before they even had the Aqua interface. I still thought they were way better computers, and way ahead of the game. (yet I used a PC) WHAT WAS I THINKING???

I've always wanted an Apple computer because I loved the software and hardware design. With info, tips, apps etc from AquaSoft, my software tastes more like apple, so I don't need to buy an original one as before(!!!)

Ok, honestly now... If I had the money, I'd buy an iMac, a 17" powerbook, a G5 and a 30GB iPod. Right now I can afford none!

Hey Ken, you are in the same situation I am in. That is what lured me to Aqua-Soft in the first place. I always loved Macs hardware and software, but I couldnt afford it, because I already a PC, so I used Aqua Soft and their help to make my pc look as Mac-like as possible. But for me, that was only temporary. It was too ease my pain until I got a Mac of my own. Nothing can ever match a real Mac to me. Not even os x on x86. Its gotta be the whole deal. It will not suffice for me.

When you get the money though, definitly look into it man!

Yup, me too. I bought my iBook largely because Aqua-Soft introduced me to OS X and i realised that the OS had come such a long way from my last experience - OS 7.5.

I love my mac but I feel really sad that Apple feels the need to jump up and donw on Y's Dock and others.

i wasnt too sure how much i loved apple until i found aqua-soft. before i came here, i saw OS X is small little glimpses, but once i had the dock and objectbar (and the no-longer-in-existance aqua-apps), i really fell in love.

Well I'd been enamoured with OS X from the moment I first saw it. I remember taking a look at the GUI back when it was still in pre-release form. By the time it got to 10.1, I'd pretty much decided that it was really something very special. I remember comparing it to Windows XP and feeling quite green with envy.

One night though, in November or December last year I think, for no reason at all I did a Google search for "Aqua GUI in Windows XP" or something similar. I stayed up til dawn installing everything I could find, including Iceman's system files - the man is a living legend. My computer never had much luck with Jef's Aqua Apps though, which was disappointing, and I would have liked to have been able to eventually get them working.

However were it not for Aqua-Soft there would have been no chance that I'd have actually gone and bought a Mac. I've taken order of a shiny new iBook 900Mhz, which I'm really looking forward to. My PC is ok, but certainly not state of the art these days, and my dock benckmarks etc are looking pretty slow compared to some of you people. I could never justify spending the money on ObjectDesktop, so my Aqua emulation has never attained the levels that some of you guys and gals have. Instead I'm going for the real thing - and I'm by no means the first on here either.

I'm openly sceptical about some of Apple's PR and customer relations practices. Even though I imagine I'll be absolutely bowled over by Jaguar (and later Panther) I'll remain this way. The fact that Apple appear to be going through $130 (actually for me in Europe, I'll end up paying the dollar equivalent of $180) operating systems every twelve to eighteen months frankly sucks, regardless of their high quality. I know I've bought into an OS which is towards the end of its natural life (Jaguar) and I'll have few qualms about buying Panther when it comes out - nobody forced me to buy the iBook, right? But, in short, I think the more sceptical switchers Apple gets from the Windows side the better. Apple have got away with a lot of things with hardcore Mac users, because a die-in-the-wool Mac user won't switch to a Windows machine over the phasing out of iTools, or annual $130 OS upgrades. Whereas if a Windows switcher such as myself - who will still have his Windows XP box - feels aggrieved at Apple, he can simply walk away.

I think Aqua-Soft switchers are a mutually positive thing, both for Apple (who make more money with more customers) and for other Apple users (a larger customer base means more R&D and better - hopefully cheaper - products). I defy anybody to find another site on the net whose target audience is Windows XP users that has produced this number of Mac converts. And there's going to be more.

Before even knowing Aqua-Soft existed, I went and bought a 10GB iPod, an amazing piece of kit, and even though the new ones are out, I still treasure it. The iPod for Windows was one of the major 'Trojan Horses' Apple put out there to entice Windows users towards Apple products. It backfired. While I did not expect an iTunes clone for Windows to manage my iPod, I did expect a piece of software that would actually work with my iPod, as opposed to MMJB, which is crap. If anything, the iPod turned me away from Apple, especially with the firmware issue, which I am still very upset about.

So take note Apple - were it not for Aqua-Soft, I'd have gone and upgraded this PC. Instead you've got yourself another Aqua-Soft switcher.

Long live Aqua-Soft.

PS: Incidentally, how many of us have now gone and bought a Mac primarily because of Aqua-Soft? It's been difficult to keep up with all the buyers - I remember soulless, H4RM and nrzero alone in the last month or so (there's probably more), even though I know the latter two had problems with their systems.

I'll most definitely be buying a Mac even moreso because of Aquasoft even though I've loved Macs all along ^_~; this site is like a gateway drug; you get hooked on it and then you need more until you have to move on to the crack rock known as Apple computers :woot:

i always wanted to make the switch but every time i tried i got bad feelings about it. when iMac was released i went to an appleshop and checked the machine. i realized it's slow as hell (slower then my Nvidia TNT2 graphics card, P3 500 MHz with 512 MB SDRAM). But i loved the look of the whole system so i couldn't sleep :lol:

Everytime i get news about Apple i decide to buy a mac and finally i change my mind - all the time. i went to my girlfriend who has a G4 and i played with it. I realized the appledock is worse than any win32dock and i always hated MacOS because i can't resize windows from any border/corner (i'm not sure it's true).

the last fact in my mind: "Don't buy a mac!!!"

i'm getting bored of MacOS and the jaguar skin. sometimes i start the skin apps and docks but mostly i use only a few softwares on my computer both on windoze and freebsd. i killed explorer two years ago so i have no desktop (thanks God) i use only a traymodule and a program called hotkey master (keyboard shortcut manager) as my Shells - i set my beatiful icons but i don't need to click any icon - i just push my keyboard and it'll work as i would like to.

if you think about it: you only have to set a nice wallpaper and windowborders are so small... there's no need a visual style. just use your computer. make it handy.

i also started to build a box for my computer. there'll be a box made of wood and another made of plastic. i'll send a photo about it on the board. i'll also change the cover of my keyboard and mouse.

i won't switch (only for the look&feel) - sometimes i feel apple makes a mad uniform. apple wants us to wear a uniform (like IKEA). or similiar to the russian singer woman who was loved by Picasso in the movie Adventures of Picasso.

x86 architecture is faster and more people develops it. i'll build my own computer then i'll use freebsd and windoze for the rest of apps.

actually my imac is 500mhz and with the motorola chip it is roughly* equivilant to a 750 p3 mhz x86 processor.

Regardless OS x is a charm on these machines (although i wouldnt resist having an ibook 800mhz ) infact the desktop GUI rendering on my imac is far faster and smoother than it is on my ferrari-like pc (1.8p4 768RDram Radeon AIW 9700pro). Yeah generaly its slower than my pc alright, but in many Desktop cases it has a clear edge. I bet taha, godpunk, betaguy, mihaly and other mac users who have above 800mhz enjoy it tits.

So H4rM you're sticking with the 17 incher, I'm waiting until September, when the Powermacs ship (and possibly panther as well) to make my decision. Hopefully by then Apple would have released some update for their Powerbooks, hopefully it'll be a g5 upgrade, but we wont know anytime soon.

I was fascinated by OS X from the first time ever Ive sawn it.

Now, that was actually not a long time ago. I never knew a lot about mac, I was on the (styled) Windows Side most of the time. But I then once saw the Mac from a Friend of mine and I was just fascinated. :woot: From that Moment on I always wanted a mac. I worked with them in School and really wanted one. But infront of me there is a good old PC Hows that??? :cry: Well, I dont have Enough Money to afford an Mac!!!!!!! Thats why I want my PC to look like one, that doesnt cost a thing!

nrzero, donmt think I will wait much longer. Reason is I can always buy Panther once it is up for sale, and as far as the G5, it doesnt look like it will appear inside the powerbooks until next year sometime. Apple isn't talking, and nobody knows, but going on their track record, I would have to say well into next yr before we see a G5 Pbook.

On spymac forums, they report it took 2 years to get the G4 in a Powerbook, and 3 yrs to get a G4 iMac.

I just opened my Powerbook after talking to people at the Apple Store, to where, I actually went, to return my laptop. They said that this is an amazing machine etc. and asked me whay the hell I wanted to trade it in for a Powermac g5 and display for a few more hundred dollars. I realized that I should be happy with it and enjoy, after all they told me that from the information that they recieved the Powerbooks will not g5 processors for >1.5 years, just as it took 2 years for te Powerbooks to switch from g3 to g4 and come out with the ti-book. :lol: :lol: You should get yours quick H4rM. How about passing that copy of Panther on???
