Problems With Admins/mods...
Modding is a bit like parenting. You hate to come down hard on your "kids", but it is sometimes necessary to do so to keep them in line. Don't get the mods and admins wrong- without you guys, this wouldn't be a community, and we love all of you- both personality-wise, as well as the contributions you make. We are estatic to have you here.
However, we have to do what we have to do to keep the place running smoothly, to weed out the cuzzo's and aafus's so that the alilm's and beric's can thrive. This sometimes includes a little scolding when those prone to offtopic discussion turn a "NTFS vs. FAT" thread into a "Hey, I just dug a huge booger out of my nose" thread. ![]()
Whenever it seems we are a bit harsh, just think of us as parents who are a bit annoyed at your antics, but love you all the same.

@ godpunk - Whoa! that was a great post! (Y)
Hmm... well I'm glad that after months of membership i finally found this thread lol! And it serves me right for readig it.... 15 minutes + of my day gone now! Oh well...
GENERALLY i think the modding around here is fairly good at the moment. Threads/posts dont seem to get closed too readily, although i have seen at times that certain mods (mentioning no names, they know what i mean) can be a bit trigger happy on the "close post" button.
I'm glad this thread is here, cause until I found this it had seeed to me that mods were almost an authority unto themselves, who had the facilities to make AS a community where their opinions were more important than anyone elses. I personally have never been shot down by a mod, and I would be irritated if I was, cause I dont post about stuff I know nothing about (unless, obviously, i am asking a question lol), and my knowledge of PCs at least is fairly good, hence the profession (yes, my avatar does meant hat i work for them... and yes, they are evil lol!), but i have seen members get shot down and insulted just because they made a mistake.. This is not good moderating, this is self importance (And yes, i know Duckie's back story, but frankly I dont care who he is, he still has no right to belittle another member just because he feels like it).
The one thing that I have seen that does really annoy me is when members rants get removed, and then mods feel that they have a right to rant in the same manner as the posts that they themselves removed, or the threads they closed. Shouldnt we all be conforming to the same basic rules here? And surely that should include the mods as well... The mod position is a privalege... It shouldnt give anyone the right to force their opinions on someone else, or to have an entirely separate set of rules that only they conform to.
This would be the same to if people wrote in to Computer Shopper and we replied in the magazine saying "you are a stupid f*ck, so don't ask stupid questions... Never write in to the magazine again", or us writing in the magazine that our opinion is best and no one elses matters... someone could write a letter aout something we wrote and we could say "well your opinion doesnt matter anyway so there."
We dont.
Same thing, just on a larger scale. Luckily these kind of things dont happen very often... It's more of an exception rather than the rule.
Sorry about the little complaint... But hey, its constructive criticism guys! Personally i think that you do a pretty good job on the whole.. I mean, I had an avatar a while back that looked a bit too much like a badge given to mods etc, I got a PM asking me to change it. Thats the proper way to do things... politely and discretely ![]()
Cheers
