I can't believe how well and accurately works; this is how a dock program would be in my dreams... no scratch that I never dreamed someone would make one so damn good!

I'm pretty sure desktop X has this, but i don't want to run that just for that feature. I don't have access to a mac, but it appeared that the dock can force all windows to not overlap it?

You can do this using WindowFX from www.stardock.com, which is what I use
The full version includes a 'Maximize to specific size' option that lets you set boundries for maximized windows, thus stopping them overlapping the dock.

Great dock, but is there a way to make it a little less responsive to mouse.hoverings? (that, to avoid nuisances), and uhmmm why winamp doesn't minimize completly?

@admf, excluded means that it isn't shown in the dock, usually when you have a shortcut and you drag it off, or click "never show in dock" it will be written up as "excluded" in the item list, as not to show it next time.
@D14852001neko, you can right click the dock, and "lock" it so you dont accidentally drag things off, if that's what you mean.

A program called Hawkeye ShellInit can limit the size of maximized windows. It creates a screen "margin" and then closes, so it doesn't use any resources. Best of all, it's free!
Download it HERE, then make a file in your Startup folder named "Dock.hss" that contains "Margin, 0, Bottom, 48" (if your Dock is 48 pixels high). Run the included "destroy margin 0.hss" to allow full screen usage again.
Reserving room on the left side of the screen doesn't seem to work with WindowFX, but Hawkeye ShellInit can do it. (Did I mention that it's free?)
I love it. It's very smooth but the mem usage is pretty high. Also, if the icons that I usually use are magnified they usually look a bit pixelated. Otherwise, I'm quite enjoying this dock and will continue to use it over yz unless I start having problems.

Corvida, if you use Aveicon and turn your ico dock icons into pngs, it will usually look a lot better on the dock.
Just a little tip if you haven't tried it out.

Is there any possibility to change the standard position of the applications (minimized and currently running)?
And: Is there any way to change the icons that are not (!) in the dock instead of replacing the standard application icon?

I use a tool called Sizer for this. You can't maximize but you can set presets. My fav is called "Workspace" (1220 * 950px on 1280 * 1024px screen). Works great for me, because you can access the presets via a context menu near the close and minimize buttons.
I just hope Apple will not make my dream disappear!
@Raduking: thanks man, like most of people here, I'm simply speechless ;). Since you buzzed me on MSN yesterday announcing this release, I've been playing with this new baby and I really love it man.
I have some suggestions/ideas for the next release
- "Activation by mouse" feature: it would be really handy if you could implement this feature, at the moment the dock can only be set either on top or bottom which is a bit hard to access.
- There is a bug (I think) with iTunes, my iTunes is set to be minimized to systray, but when I minimize it, it goes to the dock with a nice screenie (yep very nice screenie indeed). I don't know if you did this by purpose or it's a bug.

This Dock is fantastic raduking
Only bugs/suggestions I can add are:
- the close application menu item doesnt seem to work for me.
- the 'quit' menus item closes RKDock and not the application in question.
- It would be great if rkdock could add every application to the itemlist.conf so that personalized icons/names will be remembered even if you dont choose to have it remain in the dock.
- could you add an option to hide the taskbar?
Those are my only gripes/wishes.

I know Y'z did have an integrated benchmark for this, but how do you know RK's=30fps?My AMD64 3500+ & Gf6600 setup is quite similiar to yours but I don't experiance the slowness you seem to get hindered by. How many icons do you have on the Dock?
I can tell its below 30fps because it is visually jerky. Since smooth video is around 30fps I know it is below this.
Why would you want that? Right click on docked items allready gives context menu, doesn't it?Your request would mean an extra action for achieving the same result.
That would be fine if it actually worked... Clicking "Close Application" does nothing for me on any application I try. I'd also like options like: minimise, maximise, restore, close, etc...

Nyaaaooow~ What I meant is that the response time is, well, too fast, is there a way to "dull" the response time (in the Automatically Hide)...
I move my mouse close the edge, and there it is, the dock, make it wait, i dunno, 1 sec or something, or what about moving the response area to the screen edge's??

Great work on the dock! One thing I like about your dock against ObjectDock is that your magnification is complete... as in it zooms in on mouseover AND out on mouseout (not just IN like OD). But I have a few suggestions...
First, can you make it so your dock has an option to where it doesn't remove the Windows taskbar? I don't use objectbar cause I find it to act somewhat clunky as oppose to just a windows taskbar and it's a bit annoying to find that when I minimize a window, I lose my taskbar.
Second, your animation down to the dock seems kinda slow (and I have a very good computer but who knows it might just be me.) So try to work on that a bit.
Third, allow explorer windows, programs, etc. to still be shown on the dock even if they're not "minimized to dock." One thing I noticed is that when I turned off the minimize to dock function, nothing I minimized was shown there anymore.
Eventually I'm assuming you'll also be including some backgrounds.
I realize this is just a beta so if I came off harsh to anyone I apologize... just giving my opinion. I actually think this is a fantastic dock especially for a first release. It definitely has great potential and it's an awesome start... but in my opinion it still has a ways to go before I choose it over ObjectDock. Eventually though, I see this as the #1 dock. Great job RK.
