RK Launcher 0.3 Beta

Launch shortcuts with style!

Description

RK Launcher is an application that will allow the user to have a visually pleasing bar at the side of the screen that is used to quickly launch shortcuts. With support for themes, PNG's and ICO's and with smooth amazing animations, RK Launcher is a versatile and great taskbar replacement.

Zooming

When the mouse is moved over the dock, all the icons will automatically grow: this is called zooming. The advantage of zooming is that the user will be able to have a very small strip of shortcuts that virtually take no precious screenspace. Only when interaction with RK Launcher is required, the shortcutbar will automatically zoom in to allow the user to pick the icon he wants.

Taskbar

Minimized windows will normally be shown on the Windows Taskbar. RK Launcher provides an eye-pleasing replacement for the taskbar: whenever a window is minimized, it will automatically be placed on the shortcutsbar and will be represented by a small image of the contents of this window. This way, the user will quickly see which windows are minimized.

New Applications

It's always hard to track newly installed applications: where did they go? To solve this problem, RK Launcher will automatically place a shortcut on the launcher when an application is started for the first time.

Customization

All parts of RK Launcher can be fully customized. From the number of icons that gets zoomed on mouseover to the background and icons; the user can set it all as he likes.

With support for themes, users can exchange their favourite looks and change the look of the launcher with one click.

This is the first official release of RK Launcher.

Notes

Because it is still in development and not all requested features have been implemented yet I chose to call this release 0.3 Beta.

Nice job! the memory usage is down a lot, which is great, but its still pretty high compared to other dock programs. Its progressing nicely, keep up the good work.

I have been keeping my eye on your site and downloaded it about 20 minutes ago.

I came here and was suprised it hadn't been announced.

Anyway, this is great, it's notably smoother, the new icons are great, the scale effect is very smooth and it even has it's first desklet!

Congrats on the first official launch. Have grabbed a copy and will give it a try.

1st thing I have found is that I can't use the launcher on my 2nd display. But the magnification and general look is certainly very smooth.

This thing is awesome! Especially for a 0.3 release. I don't dare imagine what the final 1.0 will be like

I have a few requests, if any of them are possible:

-KKmenu support

-all of the windows options you'd get from right-clicking something in the taskbar

-allow the minimised windows to show up in the taskbar as well as in the dock (at least as an option)

-when I minimise an explorer window the taskbar dissapears

-being able to customize an app's thumbnail on minimised windows

-having a slider to decide the time it takes to respond

I have a prob.

After I changed label's font and restart rk dock, the label totally disappeared.. I changed font back to Tahoma, but didn't help.

Does it only happen to me?

here´s a little suggestion for update-versions:

settings

section: label

a possibility to turn on/off "edge" and "shadow". that´ll be usefull. well, ya, while i´m speaking about features... something like kkmenu would be superkrass.

that´s just an idea.

recycle bin dragndrop-support would be nice, either

a possibility to save all settings (icons, programs, theme, ...) to a theme or something like that would be handy, too

ah, and pantoni, superbe work. plz continue this great icon set. just love it!!!

Wow this is the best dock i have ever used. I only have one problem i cant move separators,anyone else having this problem.

Am I just being dense, but how do yiou configure it? Only through editing the .conf file or what? I dont have a systray icon at the moment. Maybe a reboot is in order.

To get to the settings just right-click an empty area on the dock, the separator for example, and select settings. The rest I'm sure you can figure out.
