At the risk of redundancy, I would like to inquire about the pantherXP fast user switcher function. I know that you posted earlier in this thread that it was a feature you had already bundled into the app, my question is whether or not pantherXP's fast user switcher will function as a virtual desktop switcher or whether or not it will actually allow the user to switch from one user to another in XP. Right now I use the "super fast user switcher" powertoy from microsoft and I have long since been longing the same functionality in that app but with the panther-style GUI. If you could post and give us some details I would be much obliged.

And I'm sure it's very beautiful. Would it help at all if i were to send you the super fast user switcher powertoy binary? It's actually bundled up with the old microsoft powertoys, but due to security reasons it's no longer available for download from microsoft. Nice screenshots. I wish I had the programming skills necessary to assist you in the development of this project. I can only offer my assistance as a beta tester, which I'm sure you have plenty. As far as suggestions go, I agree with the focus on everything but the dock and with this possibly becoming a complete desktop replacement instead of a shell, vague as that request may sound.
Thats right folks, it's DJ Williams! 'X' Head Programmer for PantherXP! Just want to let you all know that the ****amaimy story that DrFire told is WRONG! I got arrested for passing bad checks several years ago! I am NOT in prison, and was NEVER in prison! However, I was in a county jail for a while pending court and all. But now I am out. I will NOT however contribute anymore to PantherXP. On the brighter side, for those of you that were interested in the Adium port for windows, I am going to finish that! And since I am not working with any handicaped programmers(Those that ONLY know VB) I will be coding Adium in C++/OpenGL. And it will remain opensource. Once I get things straightened out with my family, and get my finances back on track, I will be actively working on the project. If DrFire can come up with an apology for slandering me, I will consider working with PantherXP more.

Well, it's not that I am pissed off at him, it's that he slandered me! He did not have to tell everyone that story! I have invested so much time and effort in PantherXP that I will not give up on it! Even though I say I will, I will not..lol.
As for AdiumX. I plan on implamenting the floating contact list, skinning, and multi-protocols at first. Then I will work on more functionality. I figure OpenGL would work better then DirectX. Thats just my opinion. If someone thinks that DirectX would be a better deal then OpenGL, then let me know. I will work on that. But like I said, I will work on it a little here and there, and once I get things fixed up with the family, I will go at it full time. I am doing this all myself, so time and pataince will be a big factor for me, and everyone else.

I will also boot my web servers back up, and continue to host for PantherXP if hosting is needed. While I was away, my gf did not know how to maintain my web-servers, and when she moved she tore down my racks and had NO idea how to reconfigure, and install them. lol.. So, in a week or so, I will have them back up and running. I have gone over the source code that I had wrote for PantherXP some time ago. With all the features that I had once promised, it seems that I may recant the abilities of PantherXP being 100% VB. Some aspects of the project are going to HAVE to be C. Fast-User switching (I have completed that a while ago) is much too slow compared to the C port that I wrote. The Dock itself is limited to its abilites with VB.
I will encourage the on-going effort for PantherXP to be written in VB, however, I think I am going to re-write it in C++ for my own pleasure. BTW, as some of you may already know; I have been in contact with the Apple Legal Team. I got to reading all my back emails, and have discovered that they are NOT going to limit PantherXP on any features or abilities. They first wanted a 'custom' GUI instead of the OSX GUI. No longer the case. They also wanted custom icons. No longer the case. The project is to remain Free & OpenSource. The programmers are to document what is a replica of OSX, and identify in the liceans what Graphics, Icons, Audio, and such was used.

I hope he will forgive me and help with PantherXP. If anyone is wondering why I havent posted anything it's because I have some good news for myself. I got my Mac mini and I've been having so much fun using a real Mac for the first time I havent even touched Windows. I will continue working on PantherXP and hope DJ helps, lord knows I need it.
Also I guess I should share the fact that I'm now making software for Mac OS X. I can't think of any good software ideas, anyone have some?
Well, I accept Dr.Fires apology. But, like I said, I have some family rebuilding to do, and so on. So I will not be working 100% on anything. Aslo, all my machines and code is in storage in St. Louis, M.O.! But, I will continue to work with PantherXP. I will have to consult with Dr.FIre to see what he has done while I was gone.
Good. Now with DJ back you guys should see some serious stuff come out when he gets back to coding after he's done getting his life back together. Back before he left he was doing most of the coding and I was tired of all this PantherXP crap because my life was going into the crapper with my girlfriend and school. I'm past all that and me and my girlfriend are happy and I'm doing good in school. So DJ and me will both be doing an equal share of work this time so releases can come out as soon as possible and I hope it will be everything you want it to be.

Me too. I think Apple is starting to realise that all this Window$-to-Mac costumising keeps it's users linger for the real OS X. Guess who were the first to buy the new MacMini, I bet quite some Aqua-softers and PearPC users 
Good to have DJ back on board. I still want to advocate less Dock and more Finderbar, shadows, buttoneffects, desktop & desktop icons behavior. Oh, well...
We'll get the features you guys want. And yes, I was a PearPC user and Aqua-soft, and I bought a Mac mini the second day it was out. Apple made a good move with it. On the down side of it it only has 2 USB ports, no serial ports, only 256 MB RAM (which makes it not able to handle that much of a work-load), and I can't think of anything else right now. Don't get me wrong, if you want OS X and can't afford an iMac, Mac mini is the way to go. My case right there.

Good luck on the project! I think I agree with wiebeest that we're good on the dock front. More effects (like the cube one, even though I've already seen a version, etc) would be great.

Well, it's nobodies fault what they believed themselves. If I heard a stroy like that, I may to believe it. However, that is in the past.
I have not been on a computer for 3 months. So I am lack on any new features of OSX. So, I will have to do some major research. More extensivley then I had last time. While being in the County Jail (lol), I had the chance to talk to ALOT of people. Even the jail network admin. And they ALL would love to see this project suceed. And all agree that it would be a huge 'seller', though it will be FREE. So I want to learn EVERYTHING about OSX that I can. I need features, picutres, GUI's, sounds, icons, and such. If anyone-and-everyone would like to send screenshots of any-and-all applications features, and such so I can study them, please do. Email them to dremation@gmail.com
