Just so everyone knows, I have created a clone of the fast user switching feature with the animated rotating block for PantherXP. I can't upload the files on here because it's too big. If anyone can provide me with web space, that would be sensational.
And if this helps anyone's spirit, PantherXP is not dead!!!

when drfire asked for help (a few posts back), i contacted him about what i could do to help, we have since talked several times and tried to figure out what we are going to do do revive pantherXP.
the major stepping stone for this to restart is what language we wish to code it in. drfire wants to use vb6 because thats what he knows best, and so people dont have to download the .net framework. i would rather use vb.net because thats what i know best.
before we commit to any language and get to far into development, we have to weigh the benefits of each language, or consider a better (more optimized) one entirely. any developers opinions are welcome.
with both of us going to school, it is also difficult to find time to sit down and do any actual coding. i know he has started a few elements of pantherXP, and i can only assume that they are going to be great.
we will let you know when there are any updates or when we need some public opinion.
still, if you are a developer who has interest in helping out with pantherXP, please PM or email either drfire or me. the more people that are involved the faster it will get done and the better it will become!

I also don't care about a site - why waste your time and effort on a site about the project you are working on - seems kinda counter productive to me!
That's because while DrFire and the current developers will be doing most of the coding, I would be making logos, icons, websites, and advertisements.
Well everyone, I have been working on an alpha release for you to screw with until a stable and fully tested version is released. I'll perhaps have it posted within the next few days if someone provides me hosting.
What I've got so far is:
- a dock with magnification
- virtual desktop feature which will rotate the 3D cube to the next desktop (like Mac OS X Panther's fast user switching feature)
- a clone of the amazing flurry screensaver from Panther (source included)
- multi-user-support
- multiple languages for all of our friends from other countries
- support for plugins to extend the capabilities of PantherXP (with an example code and compiled one as well)
- and of course the full PantherXP source code in Visual Basic 6.0
Please don't leave us because you thought this was dead! I appreciate all of your guys feedback. Please make alot of discussion and suggestions. That's what will make this program amazing.

Oh and BTW, didn't you say that you will not release it with a skin|theme that will resemble a mac, but that the skin will be seperate; for legal purposes.

i can also speak with a friend who has some super-fast hosting with almost no bandwidth/file space usage limits as well if you want...

Well... Not much discussion on the release you've been waiting for months for. I was hoping you would provide feedback rather than read it and say, "Oh." Anyway, I'm finishing up some things, then you'll see a release. After the release, I will be looking for some skin creators... As I am only making one basic skin for the default. Maybe I'll make more myself, I don't know.
are u making the one default skin AND including mac os x tiger as another skin??

Well, the dock uses about 20% of your processor, and the rest is pretty low on it. I will not be including any Mac OS X skins because Apple Legal said that I can't make one included. So, someone else has to make one and put it on their own site or some other site where you submit things. I think you'll be fine with the skin I made for default. I'll post a screenshot of it soon. The user login is also skinable. I am making some Panther skins for the thing, but won't include it when I release it. So if anyone wants it when I'm done, e-mail me.
Is this going to be like FlyAKite OSX or WindowX's Mac OSX Transformation Pack 2.0 (which I'm using now and love). Will it replace system files and such? And, will it work with Windows XP SP1 or SP2? Please let me know and I can't wait for a screen shot. Thanks.
We are very interested, but it's hard to talk about something I have never seen. The feature set sound neat, but, to be honest, I am having a hard time visualizing how this integrates into Windows. I am looking forward to downloading this and trying it out.

It's a replacement shell for Windows. I wouldn't be doing an replacing until a fully tested version comes out, but... It can be skinned to look like whatever you want. I might add scripting capabilities, so you can COMPLETELY redesign the GUI and make it look like any operating system, or even pretend you made your own, lol. Anyway, I just tested the Panther logon skin, looks good. The SafariBar skin for Panther works fine as well.
Ok, ok... I'll take some screenshots, but it's not looking that good right now... The good stuff is in the code...
