Damnit... This thing wont work right! Does anyone have a code to set it so the top of maximized windows go under the finder, and the bottom goes to the top of the dock??? I have one but it's being an ass!

#251110

Nevermind... Got it working.

#251128

Good news. I got hosting from osx-e.com! I have uploaded the source of what I feel like should be released right now... There is more it's just not included in that zip. The zip is at www.osx-e.com/drfire/pantherxp/pantherxpsrc.zip

Glad to hear you found space! Any chance of a compiled version? If not, that means I can't use it. I don't have access to VB. Thanks!

#251171

Very cool! I couldn't get the menu to work, so I couldn't exit the app, but this looks very promising!

#251258

Looks Great so far!! I'll try it at home after work.

Keep up the good work.

#251287

Yea, you have to use the stop sign on the dock!

#251363

Great - got it! However, exiting pretty much destroys the windows shell. The taskbar comes back, but it thinks that the screen is severely offset. Just FYI...

#251458

Yes I know... Sorry I'm having problems restoing the work area to what it was. The way I've found to fix it it: unlock your taskbar, then click the top part where you would drag it to make it bigger, just CLICK, then lock it again.. Will restore everything!

PantherXP has been moved to the download section of osx-e.com, although I will still have a site hosted there. The EXE is at http://www.osx-e.com/modules.php?modid=1&action=show&id=245

The source is at http://www.osx-e.com/modules.php?modid=1&action=show&id=246

Cool - I logged out and back in, but your way is easier. Thanks!

Any suggestions from anyone for PantherXP?

#251475

Is spotlight possible?

this is a great app, and definitely the best all-round effort i've seen so far in the aqua community from one app. In terms of suggestions I would say that the biggest thing would be to get the Safaribar to have the same functionality as objectbar has right now. Many people use object bar but don't like it for various reasons, and safaribar is showing some great opportunity here in terms of an alternative. With regards to the dock, it's slightly jumpy, but what I would actually recommend to you is the option for the user to disable the dock altogether. I am only saying this because most of us already have docks that we use and more importantly, have customized to our system with all the appropriate icon's, shortcuts, etc. Or another option could be to code the dock in pantherxp to recognize and take over the dock shortcut and icons settings from the default dock, this seems like it would be pretty easy to do, since many apps like RK Dock have an itemlist file that provides that information, but I'm not a developer so I can't really comment.

All in all, love this app, especially eager to see the panther fast user switcher enabled, that's something I havent' seen from any app up till now. Keep us posted!

I would like this app to become a true desktop replacement eventually.

On which we would have OS X behaviour and Finderbar on top,

but with the opportunity to use alternative docks instead as Suleiman suggests.

I would go as far as to suggest that maybe you should focus on the other items (desktop-finderbar-shadows, because I honestly think we have enough docks to choose from (Y'z, OD, Moby & RKLauncher) at the moment.Again, why not make the other itmes you forte with the integrated ability to interact with the third-party docks.

Now that would be cool & very usefull IMO.

Who agrees with me on this suggestion?

No further dock-developement in Pantherxp, but refining or the other desktop&finderbar stuff with integrated support for the third-party docks?

I also agree :)

#251710

yeah that sounds good. i agree too.

i dont know how functional that release of pantherxp is supposed to be, but i could not use it effectively at all. all the windows i had open would only show up one at a time in the finder bar. i thot they would go to the dock, but also the dock shouldnt have ie icon there as i bet most ppl on these forums dont even use ie (i personally use firefox) the apple button also didnt do nething, im hoping that was released only as a preview

#251721

I fourth that motion.

The most important element of this project to me would be the Finder aspect - being able to use my desktop in the efficient way I can on my mac. The time it will take you to create an accurate dock (which will only be duplicating Raduking's work) will only pull you away from development time on other elements.

Combining the skills of the community will make this project grow.

#251722

Ok... I'll think about making the dock optional. But if I do, it's going to be there by default, I'll make it so you can turn it off later.
