[release] Cdcovers
Bubba my man
my mistake
I had to be more specific in my readme file.
Just do this :
Go to Start > Run >and copy/paste this line in run box:
"C:\Program Files\Samurize\Client.exe" CDCovers
...or do the same from command prompt ... ![]()
Same thing apllies to any instance you want to run, just replace CDCovers with instance name.
Originally posted by AlexMC@Feb 27 2004, 04:33 AMThe Box style has the same problem (check the new screenshot) and I have all the files in the right place, I unziped to samurize dir, I'm also runing CDCovers Instance (seen on screenshot also).
I located that line you say and mine is slightly diferent:
not_available = d:\Program Files\Samurize\Skins\CDCovers\NOcover.pngthe diference is because my main disk is d and not c, I also did a find replace in all the files in CDCovers and replaced all the "c:\" for "d:\" I think that should have make it work, but nop, it has this bug.
I see what you mean ...open 'CDCoversSynergy.ini' located in '~\Configs\CDcovers\ ' folder and find line :
Command=C:\Program Files\Samurize\Scripts\CDCovers\Expand.vbs
and REPLACE it with your 'expand.vbs' path .Then do the same for 'CDCoversSynergyLong.ini' .
For BOXED style open file 'CDCoversBOX.ini' and locate line :
Command=C:\Program Files\Samurize\Scripts\CDCovers\CDCovers.vbs
and REPLACE it with your 'CDCovers.vbs' path .Then do the same for CDCoversVIS.ini.'
That should make the difference...
Thanks for the help CRNI but I had already done that, all the paths in configs and in "AdvancedMediaPlayerInfo.opt" are correct and pointing in the right directions ![]()
It's really strange, because the expand script is minimizing when no cover is found, but after that when it is needed to grow after it finds a cover again it just doesn't grow, but if I go and manually double click on the script it grows without problem.
thanks crni... i finally got the instance thing down..heh
now...i'm having the same problem with the synergylong.ini... it looks the exact same as the pic that was posted. All configs are pointing to the right place... it just looks funny...any ideas.
I don't get it
If script execute when clicked then something in config isn't right.
Open 'CDCoversBOX.ini in editor > click on getAlbumCover meter
Check that in alert value say 'Value equals' and the path to 'NOcover.png' matches yours path. (in my case : C:\Program Files\Samurize\Skins\CDCovers\NOcover.png)
That path MUST be the same as in "AdvancedMediaPlayerInfo.opt"!!!
Next check that 'Perform command' is checked and pointing to CDCovers.vbs.
(in my case : C:\Program Files\Samurize\Scripts\CDCovers\CDCovers.vbs)
Check the same thing in CDCoversVIS.ini except 'Alert value' MUST say 'value is over''.
...
i don't get it either, just checked what you sugested, and everithing looks ok ![]()
If you want I can mail you or upload all my files so that you can test them and verify the problem.
Thx again for your time.
Exactly the same problem as AlexMC, it keeps displaying the brown cd even if I hit the reload Config button. It only goes back to normal if I go to Select Config File and I choose the CDCoversBox again.
Sorry if this question has already been asked: isn't there a way to show the images that are embeded in the MP3/AAC tags instead of those from Amazon or the picture folder?
All my AAC files have got the right pictures, but this CDCovers widget just keeps going on the internet, and unfortunately, it often mismatches my disc covers...
Thank you!
So, no one does want to answer my question? Please...
I have two more, which aren't explained in the doc:
- how can I change de default website from Amazon US to Amazon France? I guess it's in the dll files, but I don't know how to edit them.
- the doc says that if there is a jpeg file in the folder where the songs are played from, it can be used as the cd cover. However, it doesn't work, even though I've checked the option is activated in the config files. Does the image have to sport a special name?
Thanks,
JF
JF - there are a few problems with Samurize's media plugin.
In short, it can't read the folder path from iTunes, so it can't retrieve the images from the music folders.
What you've got to do is put your album art into the x:\program files\samurize\covers directory as .png files, named the same as either the album or the track you want to apply them to.
Also, in the plugins directory, there's a AdvancedMediaPlayerInfo.opt file. To stop the media plugin retrieving art from the net, you should set autodownload_byalbum and autodownload_byartist to 0.
It's also worth noting that iTunes sometimes doesn't return the right names for albums and tracks - Albums containing apostrophes (') have those apostrophes replaced with underscores (_), among other things, but this doesn't happen in the same way to tracks from the albums.
I spent about 2 days tinkering with Samurize to work out exactly what it does when it's working with iTunes, so if you want more in-depth info, lemme know ![]()
The only "bug" (if you want to call it that) that I could find with this is that once it downloaded an image for a "Greatest Hits" album by an artist (lets call it "Artist X") it used that same image for subsequent "Gretest Hits" of "Artist Y" and "Artist Z", I'm guessing this happens because of the filename of the retrieved png, don't know if it can be fixed/helped, and I don't really care much because the config is amazing.

You're obviously just not as picky as me about your album covers - the ones from Amazon aren't right for half my CDs, and that just won't do ![]()
great work man.thank you

awesome, simply awesome ... stunning work there crni! :woot:
Hi there,
earlier in this thread was the suggestion to port this for ObjectDock or YzDock.
I must confess I'm inches away from a working implementation for both of them.
However I hate to reinvent the wheel and therefore started to reuse the "AdvancedMediaPlayerInfo.dll" named Samurize plugin.
I have already sent mail to the authors and wait for their allowance, so stay tuned on the pod front ![]()
i guess i'm a late bloomer, but i just installed cd covers and it freaking roxxors my boxxors. holy crap, thanks crni! :woot:
Is there a way to make the Boxed skin dissappear when no player is playing? And also, is there an easy way to add a shadow to the template skin? Sorry if these are basic questions, but I am very new to the world of samurize.
to make disapears the box:
add meter=>add plugin=>choose below(advanced media player [function:getaudio player])
choose draw type:image and enable alert value(value is over 0)
and choose your alert image filename(lets the default image blank)
that's all ![]()
Just wondering if anyone can give me a hand..
i install CDCovers as per the readme, then when i run the cdcovers instance via a shortcut or the run dialog, it opens a new samurize client.
but when i right click and choose 'select config file', CDCovers is not listed, i only get the ones in my base config directory listed.
help? i can copy the cdcovers ini files there, but then i get errors sometimes when cdcovers are loaded..
yep, got 1.25
