Safari Clone

Hi everybody

Jib and I are working on a Safari Clone. I know that theres already Savanna, but we have not felt satisfied with it. We are now working on a more bug proof Safari, with new features, and more accurate. This is a team project between me and Jib, so we have two developers together working on this app.

Ive created the preview page but it looks just like the address book one!

http://www.wincentral.net/safari.htm

That is the page that will be updated with new screenshots, and information.

Please post your comments, ideas, suggestions ....

Looks very nice.

I'm afraid to ask though, but you're using IE control's aren't you? I'd give you a wet sloppy kiss if you used the gecko engine.

Woah! Great news! I hope it will end up with something that replaces Savanna on my comp. Make sure you get rid of that keyboard bug (cursed!)

Go! Go! Go! (Y) :rule:

It's the interface that makes it slow, and all the other bloat. As far as rendering time, it's exactly the same.

For info on how to use the Gecko engine which is superior to IE... check the mozilla website.. found here

#88750

No more "Gecko please" posts. He gets it. It's his choice.

#88751

YEAH ... if JIB is in it .... we gonna have a Cool app and it surely gonna be release !!! Go ahead Jib .... i realy like your Work !!! Good luck ! (Y)

#88762

Are there Gecko SDKs or ocx files for VB?

#88766

Hmm what is this Gecko? I have never heard of it. If it works with VB 6 and has the same functions... or more? then I could probably work with it. Im glad everyone has gotten so excited. :) Dont worry about Jib not working on his Address Book. He still works a lot on that! Upcoming beta 3 is going to be very nice!!

Hey, if I noticed correctly, Duckie was one of the ones pestering about Gecko . . . and he's an admin himself.

Get the stick out of your ass.

hmmm good preview josh :D

I personnally use Mozilla Firebird (Gecko engine) instead of IE, but one can admit IE is easier to integrate in a VB application (microsoft don't like competition lol).

What about Gecko engine ? people using IE should download the engine ?? look, most of the people are using IE (which leads the market, more than 90% if I can remember), so it would pain in the ass for most of you to download an engine you don't like.

Another point : alternative to IE are goods (I love Firebird), but many pages are not displayed correctly with them ; I know this is because those websites don't comform 100% to HTML standards, but who cares about this argument ?? I want my websites to be displayed corrrectly lol

I think it's better to keep IE, and further Gecko integration could be planned... we'll see

and Josh is working hard on this safari, so encourage him lol

I'm still working on Address Book, don't worry :P
