Yea a few of the themes don't work
the Safari ones that work are SAP-P and SAF-PL

You can search for it on your hard disk 
It's in C:\Documents and Settings\your username\Application Data\Phoenix\Profiles\default\some strange numbers\chrome.

I've done all the modifications in Firebird, and I think there's a nice result that Step 6 unintentionally creates.
Step 6: The User-Agent String4) Enter Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/103u (KHTML, like Gecko) safari/100 into the UA Bar and hit enter.
N.B.: This UA String is the most current at the time of writing, and is (apparently) the UA string for the Safari build on Panther. For future reference, all Safari UA strings should be of the form Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/XX (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/YY, where XX and YY indicate builds of the appropriate software (Apple WebKit and Safari).
Because of all that mac-info, you'll be pleasantly surprised when you visit http://messenger.msn.com.
This is because, you will not arrive at that page anymore. Instead, msn.com reads your browser as a mac browser, and redirects you to http://messenger.msn.com/mac/ - HOW SWEET IS THAT!?!

That's sweet indeed. You know, I had problems with downloading Java for Firebird, it kept recognizing the browser as Safari and redirecting me to osx download link Sometimes it's annoying 
whoever has the most up-to-date version of Firebird w/ near perfect Safari skin should just do everyone a favor... ZIP IT AND POST IT FOR DWONLOAD.
I'll provide some hosting space if need be. It's only a couple megs and doesn't require an installer...

You cant just zip it because it requires permission from Me, Steve and Lynchknot.
The tutorial is simple enough...
besides different OS's install the theme in different directories hence the reason why a zip has not been made.

eh.. most people here are skinning their computers thus probably use WinXP SP1. it's not like everyone else doesn't post minimum requirements for their skinpacks.
and as for permission, yes that's understandable to a small extent but don't forget who copyrights the buttons/iface you are ripping.
no sense in being uppity about something you don't truely own.
why waste time when you can share... it's not like its a Me, Steve, Lynch © patented design w/ huge reward$$.

I think it's the point about the entire thing requiring information from different locations being the problem. Anyway, it's true that the tutorial is straight forward enough.

To be fair to Steve IE6 can be used to sign up for a .mac account.
It says you need a Macintosh to use the services, however if you continue to click 'Join Now' you are transported to the ne member page.

hey guys, my name's jontiac.
I'm a bit of a ****ie (to this forum, not skinning). I don't post much, but I thought I'd offer a tip since I noticed two of you had problems with your safari results.
True was one person mentioning that their address bar was displaying misalignment because of the text. I have a simple fix.
go into display > appearance > advanced and decrease the size of your message box font. As simple as that. I'm 99% sure its the message box font. If I'm wrong (i don't think i am) tinker with the font sizes of the other windows interface attributes and you'll ffind that invevitably your box won't have to stretch vertically to fit all that text in the address box.
Thanks to all who made this tutorial possible. Everything worked, except I have a little too much negative space resting between the title bar and address box. It's as if Firebird itself wont shrink down to make up for the difference. Am I right in presuming this?

Move everything up, then uncheck the bookmarks bar from the right click menu
i was wondering if anyone had problems reshacking firebird
cause i went to the icon group and changed the icon but when i restarted firebird the icon was changed but the webpages wouldn't load up

I was just about to pull my hair out trying to figure out why this skin/tutorial was giving me mismatched ends to the URL bar and the searchbar. I had edited the URL bar in Photoshop to work well enough and I was combing through the BROWSER.CSS file in the SAF-P.jar when it hit me! :banging:
Your text input size that you control in Display Properties > Appearance > Advanced... Is what makes things out of whack!!
For instance, when my search bar was messed up my font was Trebuchet MS size 10 Bold (for a decent mac look) but when I bumped it down to size 8 Bold VOILA! No more size mismatch! I had to reset my URL bar cap images because I had compensated for my font size without knowing but now everything is hunkydory.
Hope this helps all of you who feel like oucasts when people say "Well it's working for ME!"

Thanks for all the hard work gone in to the changes and also the tutorials ...
I really like the change of Firebird to Safari ... but it really irked me that the Google GIF was still there in the Search Bar ... when I wanted the functionality of the Search Bar ...
I found the old Search Bar PNG and realised that it was the same size as the Google GIF ... So I converted the PNG into a GIF and it looks much better to me now ...
Here's what I did:
Just replace the "google.gif" file in C:\Program Files\MozillaFirebird\searchplugins with the one I have attached.
Any comments?
