[wishlist] Things I Would Like To See In O.d. 1.0

A little birdie told me that 1.0 will have run: maxed, mined, normal option along with AUTOFOCUS!!! :rule: :own: :smartass:

#66826

Any news about other feats in 1.0? :canadian:

#71019

transition smoothness control! (not for autohide configuration) /just like yzdock!

#71043

The only real problem I have with object dock now is that I have to copy icons from my icons folder into the object dock directory in order to use them. It would be great if object dock could just read them from the location they are already at instead of having to copy them to the object dock folder. ;)

I would like to have an exclution list or something, to avoid some program to run in the od taskbar, like itunes....and if is posible, separators.

go in another direction to the OsX dock is a good thing, but just if we can still get the look.....

....and if is posible, separators.

Adding separators is already possible with the current version of OD. Look at this thread to see how it's done.

If you set it so clicking on an icon shows currently running programs instead of opening new copies, clicking on the same icon again should minimize the program (unless multiple windows exist for that app., in which case clicking the icon should switch to the next window). There should also be an option to hide the icons in the running tasks section if their program appears on the Dock.

A command line option to unload the Dock.

A separate section to the right of the Dock where you can place icons like the Recycle Bin and Control Panel. Running tasks should appear in a section on the left side, and open folders should be added to this new section on the right.

Make sure no part of the Dock or its icons extends beyond the screen edges.

Have the Command Prompt show up in the running tasks section (right now you have to quit and then restart the Dock to have it appear).

When starting, it should perform whatever code is in the "Autohide" section, because if you check and then un-check Autohide the animation is much smoother, and the icon magnification doesn't get stuck when your pointer leaves the Dock area.

I know this has already been Requested but I figured it never hurts to let the developer know that many people are looking for.

MULTI MONITOR support. not just dual monitor but true multi monitor support including spanning multiple monitors.

#74486

i know it has to have been said, but this is perhaps the most important and most dangerous feature: the seperator, i think that because of that seperator y'z dock looked close to the real deal, and that is why the program was stopped. While it may be what everyone wants and is waiting for (me too) i think that the seperator should be left for the final release when everything else is done.

#74506

boy can`t wait anymore...... where is the v 1.0 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !!!! i need it.

#74521

I am missing an option to set the startup directory of an application. e.g. fifa 2004 doesnt start with OD :(

#74667

@ Flarex - i think that YZ was stoppped cause of it`s overall features not just separators. And by the way Jeff has said himself that separators WILL be in 1.0 (Y)

#74685

hah, well quoting myself:

"Going to go do some thinking about this... has implications more than just at the surface level which is why i shyed away from it before. we'll see.... regardless though that little 'undocumented' trick will continue to work hehe"

so just to clerify the "change the ini" trick will continue to work, but no sure if i will actually publically support user-separators yet (e.g. have a "Add Separator" menu item) - still deciding on that one.

just thought i should clerify ;)

btw, just finished adding a couple things such as XML Weather w/ metric option and resizable choose image dialog ;)

thanks for clerying things Jeff :)

with all those goodies u`ve been adding lately does this mean that 1.0 will be released soon? And is there any way to make the empty space around the separator a bit narrower? it is too wide, i`d like to shrink it if possible. :canadian:

thanks for the update! (Y) ;)

Unfortunately I'm still stuck with OD 0.85 because 0.99 is too slow on win2k - to the point that it takes so long for kkmenu to popup that its unuseable :(

That's on a 2500XP+, 1Gig DDR400, Geforce 4 TI4800SE, so my system isn't exactly slowing it down!!

Things I would like to see in later versions:

Much better resource useage. To me this is much more important than adding more flashy graphics etc. OD regularly decides to use 90-98% of the resources, bringing the entire system to a halt.

Fix the clock stopping on resolution change. ATM if a program changes the screen resolution, the OD clock stops updating.

The ability to addd items from the system tray to the OD system tray - such as Getright, Trillian etc.

#75939

I wish changeable puff.

#77002

Both puff and the new shortcut image can be changed. There is no "user friendly" way to do it (but i don`t know what`s so user unfriendy with dragging and renaming a file) So here is how it`s done. Find a poof u want to use instead of old one (u can find it here if u use search or @ wincustomize.com). Open OD`s folder and rename the existing poof (poof2 for example) Then name the new file poof.png (all poofs must be png). Restart the dock and voila. A new poof.
