Well, there are a few annoying issues I'd like to get rid of:
1) all the dock and dock item properties windows have that crappy settings icon in the dock's tasks area (see picture). They just ruin all the looks!
2) the drag and drop feature only works for me when there are some windows present in the dock's tasks area. If there is none, I just can't drag any items INTO the dock and swap their positions there. The icons just won't divide to let some dock space so that I can put anything in between them.
3) even though the Russian characters are present in my Lucida Grande font, they do NOT show correctly in the dock. Just see the second pic. KkMenu docklet does them good though...
OD needs Unicode support!!!
4) IMO the shadows of window snapshots should lay just slightly lower than the window, and be centered, not on the right side of snapshot.
5) could skinnable clock hands be implemented? i hate those 1px-wide, not-alphablended ones... And a seconds clock hand option?
6) is it possible to drag a dialup connection onto the dock? Right now it creates an item, linking to some ::{blablabla}, but it won't work, saying Windows cannot find where this ::{blablabla} thing links to.
7) could the "choose icon" dialog window be resizable and have the drive/folder tree on the left, like in windows explorer? So that I could choose any folder for the icons. I just hate the fact that I should put all my icons (~1GB) into the dock folder. Also, various icon sizes would be useful (perhaps a drop-down menu with options like 16x16, 48x48, 128x128 etc.) in this dialog.
And the dialog's too slow when it shows all icons in the folder and subfolders by default. Can't that be an option?
8) When I drag a shortcut onto the dock, it just makes a reference to the shortcut's .LNK file, not to the actual destination it links to. See, if I drag a Sample.lnk (which opens Sample.exe) onto the dock, the new dock item links to the LNK, not EXE...

Hope Jeff looks into it...
1. U CAN change the icon, just right click on the icon and choose set icon for this Class.
2. U should check if "lock dragging" is turned on. When it`s on u can`t pull any shortcuts in or off the dock. (DUH :smartass: )
3. I`m Serbian but i use english for all i do on my PC, but i understand ur need for cirilic characters.

U CAN put icons in separate folders inside of the main OD folder, that way u get explorer like browsing through icons. i don`t think pple would need to choose size option, i keep only pngs in my OD folder (a 128x128 png is way less in size than 128x128 icon) but resizable icon browser window would be nice. Also to be able to view icons in 128x128 instead of 48x48 that it is now.

9. i WOULD like that but i WOULDN`T like Apple to stop the development of OD like it did with Yz Dock (cause adding genie effect would mean copying Apple and stardock is trying to distance OD from OSX dock so it can`t be shut down)

You guys do realize that once od leaves 0.xx stage they will probably start charging money for it? Now tis still beta so its free but i think most software will cost money once it leaves beta.
Unless stardock has said something to the effect that od will continue to be free in perpetuity?

Hope Jeff looks into it...
1. I don't know why your icon got to be that way because it's supposed to be a blue folder with a wrench on it. Just change the image.
2. I get the same bug. I have to open a window or app to move things around
3. You can add unicode support. Just follow the instructions found here.
4. Agreed. But at least it is still better than the real OSX where I hardly see any shadow

6. Create a shortcut to your dialup connection and place it maybe in drive c:. Drag that shortcut to ObjectDock, rename it and change the icon.
7. Agreed. In the meantime, do what Unbeliever does.
8. Agreed but in some cases it works better that way. Your dial-up connection wouldn't work unless it was the .lnk that you pointed at.
9. Like what Unbeliever says. You can sort of get a genie effect by using Judge's WFX genie script.

If u had been following the development of OD u`d know that frogboy (Brad, the founder of SD) has said that OD will always be a freeware (and my thoughts r that if they were to start charging for OD, Apple could easily jump on their back for making money on "Apple`s" program)
@anibalin - frogboy said that OD 1.0 should be released in late september/early november but that deadline has passed so i guess we have to wait for another date
true, true... Jeff has been busy working away on a bunch of other things. One of those things getting work though is still ObjectDock no doubt - expect non-always-on-top-but-not-autohide mouse activation such has been a request for a while... promised I'd have it for 1.0 Also taking a handful of suggestions i've seen and making many of them happen.
Won't give a timeframe because I still have some ObjectBar and KeyboardLaunchpad work to do before I get back on finishingup ObjectDock 1.0 and though I could give you dates, don't like disappointing anyone by missing a self-imposed deadline... but yep just posting to give that little update.
heh one final note, what you see in ObjectDock now will be now and always *free*. enjoy

So there may end up being an ObjectDock and an ObjectDock Plus or something like that? If so, that's fine with me (I'm an ODNet subscriber) as long as it is part of Object Desktop. I hate how Cursor XP isn't, even though I would never use it as I am quite happy with the Alphablended set I got from here not too long ago.

It`s just great how pple get great ideas! Jeff says OD will be free and pple start thinking that there will be 2 versions of OD, one of which will be payware! What part of FREE u didn`t understand!?

I was going by experience with Stardock. With WindowBlinds you didn't get the Windowblinds4 upgrade with it because it was completely reworked from the ground up. If they do something similar with ObjectDock I wouldn't be suprised, and the fact that Jeff's sentence was very carefully worded instead of merely saying "ObjectDock will always be free!" is what gave me the idea. To me, Stardock has been a great company with great support. But they're still a company and the need to make money.
One of the things I would love to see in OD is support for the systemtray. I mean, there are certain things that are active in the system try, like network connection status, messenger status, etc, etc, that OD could use. I am at the point now that if OD had that support, I would totally do away with the taskbar and solely use OD for all my work.
Yay, that's a great idea, jolhof. And it'd be way better if we could tell it what of the tray items to display in the dock (like, some kinda checklist of them), so that we won't get volume or network connection icons
@ GameboyzGB: for that crappy icon issue, how do I change the image - the dock won't let me do that when options dialog is open.

As for the Genie, I was just kidding. I know of all the issues with Apple and stuff... Sad we probably won't get it. Judge's one is not that identical ya know... But nice anyway.
miSka, I e-mailed you a "Settings.ico" file that you can use instead of the ugly wrench (or checklist icon). Just overwrite the one in your ObjectDock folder with the new one.

hah yes ObjectDock is free and will remain free... what we will never ever do is give you something you can use and then take it away from you! A 'plus' version is a possibility though if we are able to come up with some really radically different/creative stuff to add, we'll have to see though how that goes.

Thanks, Mike. I figured out I had no Settings.ico at all. Could've erased it somehow. It works ok now.
