Apple's Recent/Anticipated Products
After alot of begging from several people, Viper-X agreed to summarize what he posted before:
Alright, I'll try really hard: But you are going to have to refer to the top to see the long explination of why:
1: The compiler flags were fair.
2: Diableing Hyperthreading was used to test the processors themselves in an SMP environment, and it is highly questionable to everyone except Heartgabrial, if it would have helped or hindered the P4.
3: The use of SSE instead of SSE2 probably happened because of the lack of Altivec enhancements in SPEC2000. It's not fair to use on SIMD unit instead of another.
4: GCC for x86 is most likely no more optimized than GCC for PPC.
5: The custom memory librarys shouldn't have had an effect on raw processor power. No number changing effect anyway.
If you want to know why, there's bunches up there.
Viper-X-
Yeah, I agree about the iPod thing. Id love an iPod, but cant afford it, and had to get a cheaper MP3 player.
And the worst part is that apple stops supporting their "old" iPods (not completly). Thats ridiculous when your shelling out $300-500. If someone did that to me, id boycott the store (I have picket signs already made).
Thats apples problem. They assume you have $5000 to spend, and that just making you spend $200 on a whim is OK. They lose customers that way.

Basically they added stuff to the mac, and turned off features of the pc, it is worth reading...
Personally, I do not choose to believe any of that, for it is from a .com site, which could be written by any dumbass that pleases to bash Apple. Thank you very much. I would believe Apple 100 years before I would believe that sites trash. ![]()

Oh yeah, lets all believe APPLE, because they are known for their honesty.
Just like comparing a completly full PC case with an empty Mac case and saying that the mac is cleaner. Any case is clean if theres no parts in it. LOL.
I bet Jmitch would say that Apple makes invisible wires now. "Its the next innovation in computing".

lol, I personally dont believe any big comany, and I always trust on second opions when they have valid arguments, it is stupid to think that only one source is correct and worst when it benefits the one that says so, I that would be claimed by other important company I think it can be more valid, but if it is for benefit it leds to doubts, which not all people eats what apple says, atleast not me.
I want the g5 powerbook, if it doesn't come out soon, I gonna f***in' jump Jobs!
by the way.. am I the only one who hates the new goofy Finder icon?? <_
It looks stoned.

since i'm guessing you're too lazy to go find the threads or the information, just go here...

And MICROSOFT IS THE KING OF HONESTY HAHAHA. What a joke. When was the last time any huge corporation was completely 100% truthful. I'm not saying I believe every word of what Apple says, but I believe certain things that I dont believe they would make up. There is a certain level of dishonesty a company can get to before they get nailed.
Originally posted by Jmitch@Jun 25 2003, 07:51 PMWhatever Cho. You can believe whoever you want to believe. Just because you believe some random sites and dont believe a major corporation that doesnt make you an idiot. I choose who I want to believe and its definitly not gonna be some random sites made by some dumbass kids.
Just keep on ranting... I'll just keep on dishing it back.
Man, you and your and your silly concepts make me sick, and you seem to dont understand what the site is doing. Let me explain step by step, because you dont understand.
1. I'm sure he is not a "dumbass kid" he is just posting what he has found.
2. He has not made up ANYTHING! He is just posting what other BIG/MAJOR companies like apple say. If you could read the following table:
Computer/CPU Result According To Result
-------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
Apple Power Mac G5
(PPC 970 2.0 GHz) Apple/Veritest 840
-------------------------------------------------------------
AMD Athlon XP 3200+
(2.2 GHz) AMD 873
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dell Precision 650
(Pentium 4 Xeon 3.06 GHz)Apple/Veritest 646
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dell Precision 650
(Pentium 4 Xeon 3.06 GHz)Dell 1053
-------------------------------------------------------------
Intel Pentium 4
(3.0 GHz) Intel 1201
-------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
As you can see he is not INVETING stuff as you claim, because you are just saying a pile of crap with sucj stupid not supported comments, he is posting the results of benchmarks, if you could THINK to click the damn links, you could see where he is getting the stuff(BTW, it is a .org domain for your worry).
3.The problem here is your stupid obstinacy and your obvious lack of reading, because you post what ever crap comes to your mind and not what it IS, you are just slandering the guy that made that site.
In conclusion, he DIDNT made those benchmarks, he just posts the results of benchmarks that a company made, and according to those benchamarks, you can see the big difference in apple tests on the windows pc's that led to doubt. Thats the point here, not who you are going to try to beleive. It is known tht people is not that honest and they always mod stuff to their benefit. But as it is obvious that you eat all the stuff that apple says, go ahead, believe on Apple taking the world computer industry, and that Apple is 100% Honest and theri decitions are never wrong, they ar perfect.
What Ignorance can make....
Just wanted to add,
#The guy wont win anything by saying that apple is cheating/lying.
#Apple gets more $$ if they get people like you to believe that their processors and that the other PC's are crap, they will increase sales.
So think what is the purpose, think a little bit, just on that. So if they can get more sales by modifying their tests, they will do, just think on that.

Originally posted by Jmitch@Jun 25 2003, 09:44 PMLike you can prove that? Your believing that kid just as much as I am believing Apple. If you say I can't believe Apple than you definitly cant believe some kid you dont even know.
I dont believe the kid, I believe in what he posted, because it has a backup and a link to the results of each test that proves the speed of each processor, tests that place in doubt the tests by Apple.
I think you are not reading correctly, do you know how to read and understand? the Kid is not the one that made the tests, he posted results of another company. Got it? I believe on what EACH company SAYS about their processor, not Apple. I think intel knows better their processors than Apple, and those test prove wrong what apple posted at their webpage.
i'm sure G5 is powerful, but I doubt that it is faster than all, image if intel places a benchmark claiming that their processors are faster than the G5, this time who you are going to believe?
Each company says the specs of their processor, and if apple runs misterious benchmarks it wont give true info.
And i think you know apple very good, you own a lot of macs, you meet the top executives of Apple? no. so you dont "know" apple either, you just claim stuff with no support and with no reason to say, jut because your immaute mind says so. I'm amazed on your skepticism and your non-acceptance of other facts.
I think that you can prove too that the G5 is faster, you cant right now so we better beleive on OFFICIAL benchmarks, not vague and unclear benchmarks of apple, dont you think?
He posted OFFICIAL benchmarks to each processor, and they are very different to what apple presented on the benchmarck of the x86 processors. this are Official and thery are not for comparison, when comparison benchmarks exist, there are certain benefits to manipulate the results. This BENCHMARKS DOESNT include a comparison, they are compared by this guy, so he is comparing OFFICIAL benchmarks with the Apple Benchmarks.

You are not reading MY POSTS correctly! How can YOU PROVE that that kid got his test results from those companies. He may say thats where he got them, but you are choosing to believe that, where as I am skepticle. You dont realize that that kid could be making up every single thing he is saying. Are you the top executive of the company where that kid his tests? No, so you dont know that they are valid. No, I dont know for a fact that Apple's tests are valid, because I am not the top executive of Apple, but I choose to believe them as you are choosing to believe the kid.

For god Sake,
the KID is not doing the tests
the KID is not doing the tests
the KID is not doing the tests
the KID is not doing the tests
lets see if this time you udnerstand!!!!!
Read this:
”World’s fastest” based on SPEC® CPU 2000 benchmark results and leading professional application performance tests against 3 GHz Pentium 4-based Dell Dimension 8300 and 3.06 GHz Dual Xeon-based Dell Precision 650. SPEC® CPU 2000 benchmarks run with GCC 3.3 and independently tested, full report available from Veritest. SPEC® and the benchmark name SPEC CPU 2000® are registered trademarks of the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation.
it is from this url:http://www.apple.com/powermac/performance/
The kid is posting the results of those processors from this pages:
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/resul...0505-02154.html
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/resul...0407-02060.html
http://www.specbench.org/osg/cpu2000/resul...0422-02133.html
They are from the same website as apple mention of the benchmarks, and according to the benchmarks of the other processors, BENCHMARKS made by SPEC, NOT the kid!!!!!
How can YOU PROVE that that kid got his test results from those companiesHe is posting a link to the pages I just pasted above, and the result is the SAME, so it is a result of the benchmark, again, the KID is NOT making any benchmark.
Here, check the table "Integer Results (SPECint_base2000, higher is better)" in the page : http://www.haxial.com/spls-soapbox/apple-powermac-G5/
You can see what apple says about the intel processors, and below the link to the bechmarks that SPEC made, they are complety different. I bet you didnt even checked the site of the "kid", each info he posts is backed up by benchmarks of SPEC got it? now what do you dont understand?
You are not reading my posts nor the page I provided, I bet you just closed it.
Originally posted by contrasutra@Jun 24 2003, 08:31 PMIs UT2003 out for Mac yet? When it comes out, I may finally get a mac (probobly the G5). I cant live w/o UT2K3. :-)
It runs so-so on my slow eMac 700.
FYI
Haxial is not a name of a "kid"
Haxial is a sofware company that has been creating software for Mac OS9, OSX and Windows.
The programmers of Haxial are very talented people in Australia. Our company has been been using Haxial NetFone for almost a year now. It allows us to communicate easily within our Asian Regional branches (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia) whether it is a Mac or PC. We spent about $160 for 8 licenses of NetFone and it has saved us thousands of dollars on overseas calls.
I don't know who wrote the article that you guys are talking about (Haxial has quite a few staff) but I don't doubt the credibility of what has been said.
those who come against apple.
please be quite cause you're all awfully wrong. There is an argument for why did they use the gcc3 compiler and the obvious answer to that is that they simply cant compare compilers, but CPUs.
