I was wondering, because I am dying for one of them G5s, but I have a budget of less than $3000. I seriously want a Mac, but want it at a decent (notice I didn't say good) price. :dr_evil:
After the G4 was "created," how long did it take for that new iMac (the "lamp" one) to be introduced?
Yeah, the G4 cases have more glitter and glean to them. This on the other hand is more...unique, functional, professional? An incredible feat of engineering nevertheless.

Im trying to wonder to buy a 17 Pbook now or wait for the new 15 or 17 ones.

the case design! Such a smooth, proffesional, powerfull feel to it. The specs look nhasty too. Good work on the new box Apple.
The G5s run REALLY hot: 9 fans hot. I doubt they will even work in a laptop for quite some time. I mean, look how hot the G4s get, and the G5s are 3x hotter, but they can get more cooling on the desktop side.
Personally I think the Powermac G5 case is really ugly!! Alot worse than the G4 case!
But the G5 chip itself, is really awsome! (Y)
I hope an iMac comes out with a G5 chip soon, and they better not screw up the iMac design. :rant: :crossing fingers:
All I can say is wow. Words cannot describe what Apple has done, and what Apple is in the process of doing. Awsome for Apple and everyone that owns Apple computers. But, not so good for Aqua-soft.
I just dont think we're gonna be able to keep up with Apple and what they are doing. There's no way we are going to be able to continue to make windows mock-ups of their apps and finders that try to be Finder. I think it's really cool, and really great that the developers here and everyone that contributes helps. But, I dont think we're going to keep up with this race horse anymore. Emulating os 9 and maybe trying to copy Jaguar is one thing. But all this, and more on the way...
Personally, I'm getting a Mac, and when I do, I'm done with this business. It was fun while it lasted, but I mean, why waste your time emulating something that exists. I'm not gonna put another nickel into my pc or any pc. The only thing that brought me here was my yearning to have a Mac and for the Mac os. Once I get my first Mac, I'm ditching my PC and forgetting about Windows, which is what the rest of the world will be doing soon. In my opinion, (now some people may disagree with this statement), but in my opinion, Apple is steadily making their way to the top, and will soon overcome Microsoft and rule the personal computer industry. You may think, "How can Microsoft ever die? They will never, they are too rich!". Apple is on a success road to the top, and is not going to stop, and they are not going to wait for any straglers to catch up, and when I say straglers I mean MICROSOFT. They are SOOO far behind Apple now its not even funny. And now no one can even think to argue with me about power and hardware speed. Sorry Contrustra, but Apple just proved you wrong and put a sock in your mouth.
People, Apple is eventually going to take over the computer industry, whether you like it or not, so you might as well save up your pennies, save your time wasted on Windows and just jump on the band wagon now. People, its a reality. You may not want to believe it now (for those messed up people who like windows, dont know why your here), but it is going to happen.

Most people buy sub $1000 computers. Apple doesnt even have an entry into that markey, while both Windows and Linux do.
Apple will not rule the desktop with their current offerings. Them calling a $2000 monstrosity a "personal computer" is very fishy. For $2000, I could always buy a 64bit processor, its nothing new. If they did it on a $1500 or $1000 computer, id be more impressed.
Apple still is marketing towards the l33t, so thats all they'll ever conquer. Sorry.
The fun of having a mac is knowing its a RARITY. If everyone had a rolex, would you think Rolex would be thought of highly? Or anything else of the sort for that matter?
Personally, I don't even touch my PC anymore. Gamers might, but (for the 200th time), as y'all know, I don't play games. So I have everything on my mac, and I couldn't be happier.
BUT - I still do and still will visit Aqua-Soft. For the community, for the discussions, for helping out, for cool stuff...
And remember, if its a rare gem, its precious.

Exactly, that is the market Apple is appealing to. The people who need a computer "that makes them different, special". They dont WANT the average's joe bussness. Believe me,they are in a good enough financial position to market a $800 computer, they just dont want to.
exactly. Apple knows that it cant be the major computer supplier (nor does it want to). Just like Rolex, or Ferrari, or Mont Blanc...
One more thing. Mac users can argue that macs are faster till they're blue in the face. But the fact remains that PC is the most widely used platform. That means more development and a bigger market. Hence faster machines and faster games etc...
But I own a precious gem, and I'm happy :taha:
