FlyakiteOSX v3.5 Bug Report Thread

Please use this thread to post any bug reports you may have. Also make sure to search this thread before posting a bug, as it may already be answered. This will help keep the amount of threads down to a minimum.

Before posting a bug, make sure to restart and double-check if the bug exists. It may have only been a one time thing. If the bug consistently happens, then please provide me with all of the important info I may need, such as but not limited to:

- Windows version and Office version (if involved)

- What options in FlyakiteOSX you installed

- Any anti-virus software you may have running

- If you know the reason the bug is happening or know the solution, please post that info

- If you can, please provide a screen shot (upload to Imageshack.us if you do not have web space)

- Any other information you may feel is important. The more information you provide me the more chance I have of finding a solution.

Well just did the installation and works like a dream , just found a very small minor thing, spelling mistake.

Should be 'Executable', this is very minor indeed and doesn't undermine your excellent work

Got a problem with the Current User Settings Icon in Control Panel

The icon is not modded, and secondly double clicking the icon asks which program i want to use to open the file. Have you changed the location of the current user settings in FlyakiteOSX 3.5? If not, maybe something to check as this was an install over FlyakiteOSX 3.0, unless its just me.

Just to note, i've done a reinstallation of the System .cpl files and tried rebuilding the icon cache without success.

Okay, I updated the installer (this is a one time thing only). It fixes the spelling mistakes (not a big deal), but mainly fixes the current user settings tool.

Only 3 mirrors have the new file, so the others have been pulled until they are updated. Check the downloads section of the site and redownload it from a mirror. To verify you have the new version, you can check the MD5 hash of the installer with this utility: http://www.whitsoftdev.com/md5/

The MD5 of the updated installer is: 6E7A72F8E092CBDB91E046DB83526891

(The current user settings issue only happens when installing v3.5 over v3.0, was a stupid piece of code I changed). It does not happen on a fresh install.

hi-up till now i have had no problems-now when i load up a few programs my cpu spikes and i cant get it down without restarting

why is this happening-should i try a system restore?

I can't use FlyakiteOSX v3.0's .ini file : "FlyakiteOSX.ini" to make a silent installation during using the /S switch on FlyakiteOSX v3.5.~~~>_<

I want make a silent installation with WindowsXP full unattend installation.

Oh, damn it. I tried to make a re-install to see, maybe a clean installation helps.

After uninstalling and rebooting that's what i saw on black screen:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
system32ntoskrnl.exe

Please re-install a copy of the above file

I don't have the exact distibutive of that version of Windows that was installed (Win 2003 Standard SP1), but only Enterprise edition.

Copied ntoskrnl.exe from that distributive using recovy console, Windows stopped writing the error, but didn't load anyway, just black screen without any messages appeared. No hope even to enter the safe mode.

Re-installing Windows now on that machine.

The scrollbars get very big for me when using flyakite 3.5.

Try copy ntoskrnl.exe from Flyakite backup ?:WINDOWSFlyakiteOSXBackupntoskrnl.exe. It's work for me.

When I recovery this file from backup and boot to the Windows, this file automatically patched by System Files Updater and after two reboots I need recovery this file again. :-)

Hi,

This is bug concerning the Boot Screen.

Previously I had Flyakite v3.0 installed and the Boot Screen worked fine.

Upon downloading Flyakite v3.5 (I have the latest version with the Current User Settings icon fix)

I reinstalled the Boot Screen just for updates sake.

Now when I run ScanDisk or some other utility which runs at bootup the Apple loading screen appears but it reverts back to a black screen when the Scandisk screen is meant to be showing.

Has the Boot Screen been changed for v3.5? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but the black screen still appears. It means I cannot see what is happening when Scandisk is running.

As i said before, the Boot Screen worked fine in v3.0, I could see the Scandisk working.

Is there a fix for this? If all else fails I will install the Boot Screen again from v3.0 rather than v3.5.

Hopefully that will work, I just want to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.

My system specs:

Windows XP Home Edition

Boot Screen and Login screen installed from v3.0, and reinstalled with v3.5

I also have .cpl icons installed from v3.5

Thank you for your time, and for all the hard work put into making the app, it truly is a masterpiece.

**EDIT** I reinstalled the Boot Screen twice from v3.0, it now works as before.

Recently i made a clean installation of Windows, all patches and FlyakiteOSX, same bug happened. Even worse, when i copied ntoskrnl.exe from installation cd it didn't work, i'll check now for you method.

Ok, I ran into a MAJOR problem when attempting to uninstall flyakite v3.0.

The uninstaller completed sucessfully, but when I rebooted, Explorer.exe could not run because Normaliz.dll was not found.

As a result, I have no taskbar, am unable to open anything other than the task manager (and only core window, all dialogs will not open because iertutil.dll was not found.

I am not sure if I am missing anything else, as I cannot open anything else to check.

Currently I am on my other computer, and I REALLY need help resolving this issue. I really don't want to have to reinstall XP, and if I do have to, I don't know how to go about it. I did get backup CD's of XP and everything, but am not sure how to use them, and again I would really prefer not losing everything on my system.

Help would be very much appreciated.

Did you check task manager? What program is using the CPU? Nothing should be causing this to happen. You just said "All Extras" and "All System Files" and then you said "none of the extras". Which is it?

well thats the thing-i couldnt really tell what was causing it-i ended up switching back to 3.0 and everything is fine now

as for the confusion

I installed all the system files and extras but none of the tweaks-sorry for the confusion
