okey i have another problem too, the spaces inbetween each of my contacts seem to big, see picture attached. Is there anyway to make it smaller?

clist_modern isn't buggy, it does exactly what you tell it to do ;-) It just requires a little monkeying around to get the options how you want them.

I was wondering how I can get the contact avatars to show in Miranda. I would love to be able to see the avatars and not just the status icons, or maybe even both, if possible. Here is what I have set up so far:
As you can see, an avatar shows for one user and none of the others. I am assuming that is because the contact is using MSN. Their avatar also shows in the message window:
But my avatar in MSN doesn't display, and the directions I have seen are rather confusing...
Also, for AIM, I don't see the oprtion that allows me to set an avatar, nor in Yahoo! as well, and when I am having a message with someone, I see that X :
Also, how can I not use containers in Miranda? I want to see the messages in separate windows.

Ok, I have set my settings to mach those. The container problem is solved.
I still get the X in AIM regarding the avatars, and AIM icons still don't show in my Contact list.
I haven't had anyone contact me on Yahoo yet, so I cant tell how thats working.
But either way, I cant stand that blue avatar I have, I want to change it, and make sure that my contacts can see it. Otherwise, I am going back to Trillian.

The blue icon is just a local image that is displayed in your iChat window and not the actual avatar from your protocol setting.
Go to the skin directory (e.g. C:/Programs/.../Miranda IM/.../Skins/iChat/green_blue/Images).
There you find the "me.png" witch is the blue icon you don't like.
Just replace this image with your avatar of choice (30x30 Px).
All of your contacts will see the avatar you've choosen in the AIM protocol settings.
Ok, I was able to change the local image, does that image get sent to my contacts for them to see as well, or are they seeing whetever icon I used on Trillian still? Wondering because the image I used just so happenes to be the same as Trillian.
Also, I don't see any option for the AIM protocol that lets me select an avatar. But my contacts say they see one. And I don't have Trillian running at the same time, so I am confused. I cant select one, so Miranda must be sending one that is uploaded to the AIM server by AIM/Trillian. I think...

Currently, the AIM protocol in Miranda does not allow for showing avatars, which you could have found out by just searching, instead of asking the same question five times in one thread.
Also, the local image is just that, LOCAL! No, your contacts can't see it. If you set an avatar in your MSN or YIM protocol, your buddies can see it just fine. It just doesn't work with AIM.
If you already have an avatar set for AIM back when you ran Trillian, it's still sitting there in your AIM profile online. Miranda just accesses that AIM profile, so if you want an avatar that badly in AIM, set it in Trillian and then use Miranda.
And Miranda isn't all that confusing, it might help if you actually read the readme's that come with the different files you install, or maybe actually did a little legwork on the Miranda forums and looked for some answers yourself.....

@ppoppe: a little bit off topic, my YIM plugin doesn't allow me to set my own avatar, i can see other's avatars but can't set my. Could you please gimme your YIM plugin? Thanks in advance budd
@duyvan: if you right click on your tray icon, go to main menu -> yahoo -> my profile. I think you can fix it there, it's been a while...
@ppoppe: sorry but i don't have that option, all i have is:
- set custom status
- show my profile
- yahoo mail
- refresh
If i click on 'show my profile' i'm redirected to Yahoo! online profile...
hmmm......i'm trying to remember if setting a "photo" in the online profile will use that photo as the avatar, and I don't remember...
Miranda may not do outgoing avatars on YIM either, although I was thinking there was some way they did....maybe try messaging me, and see if you can see my avatar or not, and then we can try to figure out how I got it to display.

miranda shows global status icons in the tray, so you need to change those.
