I do not think you are stupid but some peoples do not know what is Google DEsktop Search and do not know i-Find need it... The problem : It can be a problem with your firewall ( if you have one ) or with your antivirus ( DO NOT STOP IT !!! ), it can be a problem with a proxy if you have one or a problem with your local network if you have one... Can you tell me : Your windows, your sp, your firewall, your antivirus, and a list of your processes when you try to use i-Find ?
Thank you.

colraffs... you've got some nerve, deetox10 has every right to assume you are stupid ..or smart or whatever til he has reason to believe otherwise. He does not know you. You asked for 'any help' and that he gave. He started with the most obvious possibility given that you gave no information for him to troubleshoot with & seems willing to contribute even more. Perhaps your patience was used up in the 2 hours you spent trying to get the application to work, however, being a little more efficient with your time (10 minutes typing up some troubleshooting characteristics,) A little context switch til @deetox10 had some time to respond, another attempt, repeat. In this manner you could have spent an hour or two and at the same time helped with tracking down a possible bug... maybe even got the program to work in the end. Flowers and all that ****. Instead, you get a 2 out of 10 for effort... Next.
No..No.. that's a bit hurtful I take that back. And I apologize colraffs.
@deetox10, is it too difficult to have your application installer check for GDS installed on system and suggest to user to install prior to further installation?

OK guys calm down you have to understand that im scotish and here sarcasim is a form of wit ! so deetox10 my system is Pentium4,500m ram, windows xp sp2, Grisoft AVG, xp firewall gds works with the other spolight clones ive tried and im sure it will work with yours its just that your program doesnt seem to think gds is running when it is i hope you can help me solve this
I do not understand man...please,
Go in Start/execute and type regedit... You must see some folders in the left... Go in this on : HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareGoogleGoogle DesktopAPI
You must have, in the right section, a "file" ( a key ) named "search_url" and the value must be something like ";http://127.0.0.1:4664/search&s=nK1JGDTq9-jdfgsdfgsdfgaE4?q=".
DO NOT GIVE THIS URL ( it can be a hacker pass to your computer ). But please, confirm to me you have this value.

Ok i admit... i am the new guy... i dont know a lot of things... this is the error that i get when i try to install it... actually i cannot even figure out how to attach an image hmmm help!
OK ive looked in the registry and i do have the "file" you are talking about. i cant understand why it wont work for me gds is working fine on its own and with the other spotlight clones ive tried....any ideas
I do not understand... I have not this bug... and anybody have this one !!! I am sure it is a problem of my http client ( there is an http client that download a file generated by GDS )... I will put another i-Find.exe on my website ( not for the moment ) and this one will give to you the """code""" of the bug...
You can take this file here : http://pascal.hervo.club.fr/osxplorer/file...ssages_HTTP.rar
You need Winrar so unrar it and copy it in your i-Find directory. Put off i-Find and use i-Find_messages_HTTP.exe. It will not solve your problem but change the error message... Please, give me this message !

colraffs, you may want to attach something a little larger.. my browser brings up a thumb-sized image.
yes ! mine too !!!
Sorry about that, its the first time ive uploaded a picture and i think i may have reduced it a bit to much .....any tips ?
It still do not work : it is a 180*144 pixels... If you want I see something, please, convert your screen to 640*480 ( minimum ) pixels or copy and give me the message ! Thank you.
DeeTOX.
Deetox10 ive e-mailed you the screengrab ....hope thats ok
@ colraffs, try imageshack: http://www.imageshack.us/
it's free, just upload from your computer, copy the link to the image they provide (make sure it's to the full sized image and not a thumbnail as they give you a few different links once you submit,) to your post and you should be good to go.
Thanks for that firecracker6.....here is the link http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/7708/ca...592159pm5sx.jpg
Please, Download this file :
http://pascal.hervo.club.fr/osxplorer/file...ssages_HTTP.rar
1) extract the new file from this archive...
2) Copy it in the i-Find directory
3) Start this file
4) Give me the new message... ( it is a "code" of the error ).
Thank you.
DeeTOX.
OK did what you asked and here is a screen grab of the error i got...http://img287.imageshack.us/img287/4433/ca...110833pm2zt.jpg
PS thanks for taking the time and trouble to help
OK ......Now i am really pissed since i downloaded the file you told me to ive had some sereous problems....my computer has slowed down so much a reboot was the only solution and then when i restarted firefox ALL of my bookmarks and favoretes have gone and im really pissed, i am tired of half developed software messing with my pc and have had enough and think that from now on im only going to download visual styles. unbe i agree with you for once ......now excuse me while i try and fix the damage done.......who needs a spotlight clone anyway
no... it is not the good message... Please, create a file called remember.txt ( an empty text file ) in the i-Find directory and restart the same exe.
I think it is normal that I help you : I create an application and I am supposed to debug it and make my possible for anybody can use it !
DeeTOX.
@colraffs, it strikes me as unusual that iFind would selectively delete your Firefox bookmarks and favorites. Did you try tracking them down (assuming you know where they're located
?)

Is it at all possible to get a version (or maybe a command-line flag?) that uses the standard Windows Style as opposed to one drawn with (presumably) GDI+? I use TopDesk a lot (which grabs windows as a texture, which GDI+ doesn't like), and I already have trouble with NeXplorer using GDI to draw its windows.
Not wanting to sound needy/whiny, just wondering :-D. Aside from that, it's all McDonalds over here (ba da ba baba, I'm lovin it).
