iTunes Skinner - 01-15-05

Ooh, if anyone feels that I'm saying they don't have a right disagree, please do not. If you disagree, that's your decision and your right. I do not take offense to it. I'm stating my opinion as well.

I will see what I do and play it by ear. I need more opinions on the subject tho.

I think you'd make more money selling the skinner aplication for 5 dollars and haveing the skinner creator for free on your site. This way people can see how great your applications system works and if they like it they can buy the skinner application and use the skins they made.

Also it would be a good idea for your site to be similar to Konfabulator's and Stardocks and have a forum. :D I think comunity applications tend to have more populatity when the users feel more welcomed. ;)

#246921

i realy agree with jesus franco, thats probly the best way to go

#246924

Ok, I'm seriously overthinking your suggestion. It does sound like a good idea. I can offer the iTunes Skin Creator for free and offer the iTunes Skinner for $5.00.

I will have to imploy some type of protection with the iTunes Skinner program tho. I can't just offer it up without any type of protection on it.

I am not sure what protection scheme I will be going with. Probably some type of registration process. I am not sure how as just about every registration process can and will be cracked and can be done so very easily.

id pay you a dollar to remove skins from itunes altogether so it uses less resources

oh also, can we see some screenshots or something?

#246931

Here are some screenshots of the new iTunes Skin Creator program.

Oh man, Jesus! Now I have to pay five dollars :(.

Oh well... I'm not objecting, but I just wanted you to know that I was much more ready to pay 1 dollar than 5 dollars. I may still buy, but you're far quicker to dispense with one GW than a Lincoln :).

P.S: Screenshots look great.

#247144

to me, the best pricing plan would be like $2 for the skinner, skin designer free... *shrugs*

#247157

I'm still contemplating the whole Price issue so don't get to riled up about the price as of yet. Nothing is concrete :) hehe

#247185

what? now you're gonna charge for conrete? :P

#247186

No. He said nothing is concrete.

for some reason i think shmengie was being sarcastic.

Will this work on all versions of iTunes? If a new version of iTunes is released and the app no longer functions, will there updates be available for free to purchased users? :-/

Saying the this program will be 100% compatible with all future versions of iTunes is impossible. I am trying to make it so that it is and that all that needs to be updated is the actual skin file...

And yes, the if an update is required all updates will be free to registered users..

Just a quick update.. I am nearly complete with iTunes Skin Creator. It is 95% complete.. :) I should be complete with iTunes Skin Creator tomorrow and after than I'll have to do iTunes Skinner which is the Skin Manager. Then everything will be finished.

I just hope the anticipated release is everything everybody expects it to be. I've been trying my hardest to develop something that is user friendly, quick and stable.

I know this is something the PC iTunes community has been waiting for and I'm excited that I am the one who is able to provide it.

Hi all, I am sorry that I have not updated everyone on any new progress with iTunes Skin Creator. I am currently out of town visiting the In-Laws so I cannot work on iTunes at this momment. It's sorta coo because I needed a little break from it. I will be back today and have a few things I have to take of with my business but after that I will resume work on iTunes Skin Creator.

Just wanted to let you all know that it is coming along great and that I plan for a release late next week. So maybe Saturday or Sunday of next week.

Well, I have to go for right now so I'll hit you all with a PM a little later.

I'm not sure if it can be done with QuickTime as I haven't taken a look at that. I would imagine the same skinning Technique could be applied to QuickTime as well but I can't be for certain until I actually take a look at it.

I will definetly have to look into this once I finish programming iTunes Skin Creator which by the way is just about complete. WOO HOO! :) hehe

I just 2 more options to add in and create a couple of Graphics and we are set to go. Ofcourse I still have to create iTunes Skin Manager but that won't take long.

Once the programs are complete, I still have to setup a website so everyone can go download the iTunes Skin Creator which will be free and the iTunes Skin Manager which is not free.

I have also done away with the ability to edit the .qtr file and instead created my own project file and skin file. Also, .qtr files cannot be shared across PC systems. This not only protects the Skin Creator but stops people from doing other things I'd rather them not do :)

Just another quick reply here...

I just finished iTunes Skin Creator. Every single feature and option I wanted in there has been implemented. Now to start work on iTunes Skin Manager and the whole "Distribution" process. This should take only a couple of days to complete but, unforseen problems can and almost always arise.

So, lets hope that everything goes smoothly and that I can get this thing launched in a couple of days. If not, then definetly by late next week :)

I will keep everyone updated on the progress of iTunes Skin Manager.

#248266

Well, just I predicted, I ran into problems while creating the iTunes Skin Manager. :( I seem to have made a HUGE error while saving the Project and Skin Files.... So Now I have to do a bunch of backtracking just to find where my error is. I think I have found the root of my problem but I won't know for sure for a few more hours :(

I'll keep you all updated..

- Runasoft

#248296

Got the problems worked out :) Whew, took long enough... hehe.. Anyhow, already began work on the Skin Manager and it should be done later today after I wake up.. LOL ooh and QuickTime is showing promising results on being able to skin that as well.. hehe Not exactly the same process but close.
