[release] Avefontbook

AveFontBook

*Fully* functional font management tool for Windows

Because of some luck with figuring out some functions, this appears ahead of schedule.

Description

AveFontBook is a font management tool that allows the user to preview not-installed fonts without installing them, enabling/disabling fonts and keep them organized in collections.

1: Collectionspane. Here you can view your collections and see what's in the collection by clicking it. Also, you can disable/enable a whole collection with only one click.

2: Fontspane. Here you can view and browse all fonts that are in a particular collection. Fonts can be previewed and enabled/disabled.

Drop font files from Windows Explorer into this pane to copy them into the current selected collection.

You can also move fonts from to different collections by dragging them to the collectionspane and dropping them onto the desired collection.

3: Previewpane. Here you can preview the selected font. The text is editable and will be saved on exit. The size of the font can be adjusted by using the combobox.

4: Searchbox. Here you can filter the fonts that are displayed in the fontspane. Filtering is done immediately while typing into the box.

5: Infopane. Some information about the currently selected font is displayed here. the panel can be hidden by using the seperator.

6: Font controlpanel. Here you can enable/disable/add fonts.

7: Collection controlpanel. Here you can add/enable/disable fonts collections.

Notes

Use on own risc!

The buttons lack alpha-transparency. Feel free to fix this for me :D

The glow-look on selection is not implemented because of lazyness.

I have 1 problem. I cant add fonts to the collections (folders in the left window) that I create. Is that not supported?

#162865

It is supported and should work. Can you give me a little more information about the situation (what's the collections-name, font file name etc...).

Fixed a drag-'n-drop error btw.

@ToNeR: double post is deleted.

Question

I just see I forgot a remove-option. How would you want this to be implemented? I myself was thinking of

trash.jpg

and dragging things to the icon would remove them.

Gimme some suggestions.

#162884

I create a collection and tried to drag and drop a folder with folders that contains fonts ( ttf and pfm, pfb ) it says I can't add becauser they are already on the collection, although it doesn't show any font

#162891

#162895

Grillo, how do you drop the folder? you select all items in it and then drop it or you just drop a folder? The last thing doesn't work.

#162896

That wasn't directed at you juno :6 ;) .

Unbeliever made me aware of that problem, expect an update pretty soon.

Good work Ave! (Y)

Regarding Collections, a remove option as well as a rename option would be brilliant (I've just added a new collection imaginatively named 'New Collection' and I can't seem to remove or rename it!).

#162914

Yeah Ave, the remove/rename option would be great. Instead of, or with, the trash icon, you could have a right click menu with remove/rename. However, regarding the trash icon, I suggest you place it in the lower right corner instead of the upper left. Either lower right or lower left.
