im in class right now, but ill try that later though. thanks.

DAMN! You made me curious, going to try it with ResHack...

Well, the two-cursor-thing can be related to my images, but as you can see in the screenshot, my cursor is hidden and overlayed by the image replaced in shell32. I'm puzzeled... stand by for report what happened with ResHacking the images...

Edit >

Windows XP Pro SP1 (Build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633: Service Pack 1)

Hmm??? I did all the updates, shouldn't I read Build 2800??? Damn Windows!

Restorator 2004

Batchmod Replacer

Drag and Drop image onto resource 142/143, save .dll, replace using Batchmod. Finish. And I get what you see on my screenies...

#163949

so just me then huh >.< . i guess ill try some tinkering and post what happens. my tuesdays suck though, so ill have to do it later.

Nah, I got the dual cursor thing too. I figured it was because of my custom cursors...

oh ok, i have custom cursors too. so maybe thats the problem.

#164084

here you are, my main pointer... :)

Don't forget to enable mouse shadow since the cursor itself isn't shadowed.

i think that your cursor fixed it. at least the shortcut icons work now, but i have no drag icons for copy, just the normal pointer. gonna restart and see what happens.

edit: yup. that cursor fixed it. shaggo do you have a set that matches that cursor? because its slightly different than the set that i have. just curious because now i want to change all my cursors to match the one you posted. thanks.

#164133

:D give me a second... I'll compile a set...

Edit > And here it is! A tripple-set with installer scripts included. Read my (schaggo's) readme to get what's to do!

Haph vun!

schaggo, thats the cursor set i have. the main cursor is different than the rest of the set, so when the cursor changes from normal to busy, it moves a bit. thats what i was pointing out before. either way, thanks for the unshadowed main one, as it fixed the shell32 tweak problem.

#164261

ah, the moving cursor. That's because I cheated windows. Actually the cursor is still there, but hidden by a transparent area (sounds strange, but it is below the transparent area and the transparent area hides everything below it) which belongs to the shell32 bitmap. because Windows positions the bitmap somewhat to the right I can't eliminate that one. But I came over it and I accepted that the cursor moves about 5px to the right side. I'll see if I can solve the problem on another way. Maybe Relativity_17 has got a solution? Is your cursor still visible when the copy overlay shows up?

#164275

Edit: Now confirming that the cursor is shifted if it utilizes alpha blending.

Could this be caused by the fact that the "difficult" cursors also have alphablending in them?

#164309

I posted about these tweaks over at Neowin.net, and some people have been getting problems which no one here has encountered. I was wondering if anyone had insight into what's going on.

When I try to drag and item, say a shortcut pointing to IE over the Strat Button, I get the cursor with a white border around it. I've included a picture to show you what I mean. It does it whenever I drag a shortcut/folder/what have you over any object.

His machine won't recognize the mask color for transparency in the shortcut glyph. Its just plain black and white.

problems : couldnt copy n paste, couldnt drag n drop, no matter how many windows were open they wouldnt show in the taskbar, I wasnt able to have any conversations in msn, I couldnt read what i typed after pressing enter in yahoo messenger n i couldnt read the other person too.

Well... Problem is well described, but I don't have the foggiest idea what could have made that happen...

I remember experienced the same when I directly edited the file in the system32 directory. I thought my system was experiencing some kind of viral attack but I could - actually I don't remember how - bring the faults in connection with the edited file. I restored the file, and my Windows worked perfectly again. Then I was inspired with the idea of replacing the cursors and tried again, this time I suceeded.

I'm a member at neowins too, can you maybe PM me the link at neowins? I will join the thread there.

Is there a difference between the ole32 and the shell 32 or should u do both??

#172642

You need to replace both to have all the shortcut/copy overlays replaced.

#172705

Made this in AX Cursors but reshacker wont replace it in the ole it says out of memory and the cursors on here wont open up in ax cursors could someone tell me the difference between them

#173077

Sorry this is what it looks like........

....by the way it works fine as a windows cursor you can use it through the control panel.

#173079

Found the problem I saved it as .ani instead of .cur now it replaced but didnt change in the system I think I need to replace the bmp in shell32 not good at bmp could someone make a bitmap of this cursor that will work in shell32 please

Never mind after rebooting several time it finally took this works great

#173138

Thank you very much. Well, it's not the original (I guess), but it looks better than the normal arrow. I think I'll take this one!

#173151

All the links to osx-e are dead.

#173625

great work, guys.

how to take a screenshot with cursor? I've encountered a problem...

#173651

use the capture docklet or objectdock or yzdock they both capture the mouse

#173660

Until now I used Techsmiths Snagit (-> google) to take captures. But the idea with the Dock is cool, indeed: very cool. I have to think about that!

Cherrysoul: I'm looking forward to your report; curious what it will be...
